Might be a bit too early for this thread, but I've made it since we don't actually have a proper thread for the first single off Rih's upcoming sixth album
Anyways, from what I've read this apparently is a reliable source;
Very exciting!!!
I find Calvin Harris to be a bit of a hit and miss producer but Rihanna never disappoints so I'm expecting something big.
Produced by Calvin Harris? Very exciting, he's on FIRE at the moment!
Bounce was brilliant (I didn't like FSC but he won't be singing this obv so yay) so I look forward to it. Looning over RiRi again with new material (not that I've had a chance to stop since she's just kept going during the Loud era)
I hope this era is successful, after a very big Loud era!
OMG so excited Calvin Harris and Rihanna on one track = amazeballs!!!! It should be great, it definately won't disapoint unless it's a Collide-type song Should get her a 6th UK Number One Hit too
Calvin Harris and Rihanna!? Interested to see what they come up with and what 'direction' she will take with this era.
Calvin Harris produced my second favourite Kylie song ever (which as a die hard fan says a lot), so I'm hopeful he can come up trumps with this. 'Feel So Close' is my obsession at the moment too.
It's a shame he didn't get Rihanna on 'Bounce' or 'Feels So Close'. As a producer he is incredibly talented. The featured guests/vocalists put me off the songs though. So HOPEFULLY he delivers for Riri!
GIRL KNOWS HOW TO STAY CURRENT!
This will probably end up being like this time last year, remember when Cheers was rumoured as the lead single for Loud?
I CAN'T WAIT! RIHANNA AND CALVIN?? YESSSSS!
Such a good day when Rihanna took over her twitter account! I live for some of that stuff
Really interested to see how this new album goes after such a difference from Rated R & Loud. Hoping for more of the latter.
Yeah, I'm glad it's not coming out that soon. 'Cheers' has JUST properly clicked with me and is just now getting huge in America. This time in October followed by the album release in early December = perfect!
We have a title
the song is called....
'We Found Love'
The source;
http://www.allaccess.com/top40-mainstream/future-releases
Just about to post that!
Sounds very dancey
So we'll hear it October 11th or shortly before? Seems a bit too soon after/during 'Cheers', but it's new Rihanna so still very excited.
Sorry for double posting but I thought this deserves a post of its own.
Rihanna tweeted lyrics for the song a couple of days ago
Well that lyric sounds like it'll be a ballad... I'd like a mid-tempo though, although an up-tempo would still be appreciated - I think I'm looking forward to this more than I was with 'Only Girl (In the World)'/Loud
I think it will be a mid-tempo where the Calvin Harris influences are very strong, almost as if it was Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna.
I hope this is something along the lines of Feel So Close, Firework, the Edge of Glory and Collide
Really excited now! Sounds really dancey....
I imagine something like Feel So Close, like a dance track but with more 'ballady' vocals and lyrics.
Ridiculously excited for this! By far my favourite popstar at the moment.
Rumoured chorus lyrics:
"We found love, and it's all that we need / We found love, and I'm moving at the highest speed / I want this feeling forever, forever"
Just from a random tumblr though so probably not very reliable!
Rihanna has an unlock system which is linked to the new album/single. There are 13 missions.
I'm guessing this means that there's 13 tracks on the album? I hope so anyway - 11 was far too few for 'Loud'!
Am I right in thinking they're all locked at the moment? Or am I doing something wrong!
She just doesn't take breaks! I love Rihanna, but I would like a bit of a break from her - it's just seemed constant since Russian Roulette.
Can't believe this is coming so soon, she is unstoppable: "This Rihanna Reign Just Won't Let Up"
Hope it is in the same league as GGGB, RR and Loud.
Apparently these are the lyrics:
Edit: bit.ly/qM4vqt confirmed as fake.
Premieres tomorrow.
Rihanna just confirmed that the lyrics are fake
Oops! Well, here's hoping they're much better lyrics.
First mission has been unlocked
Its the new logo for this era
Premieres tomorrow? SO SO EXCITED.
Loving the new R and the fact she's keeping it and renewing it for each era (well, since Rated R).
I hope it Leaks I cant wait any Longer
Is it really tomorrow? Any actual confirmation? I wouldn't get too excited, I can't see it happening - Cheers is still doing too well. But I do hope it is tomorrow, it's not like it will harm Cheers - more exposure! Anyway, Rihanna is one of my top 5 singers ever and she ALWAYS brings it, fingers crossed for We Found Love!
It might not harm 'Cheers' here, but it will definitely harm it in the US! Radio won't play it anymore if there's a new song doing the rounds, and it's still gaining there! I hope it's not tomorrow - I assume it'll be at the end of the unlocking thing, which is probably two weeks from now.
Mission 2 unlocked. 'We Found Love' lyrics
Yellow diamonds in the light
And we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive
It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
Shine a light through an open door
Love and life I will divide
Turn away cause I need you more
Feel the heartbeat in my mind
It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
Distinct lack of middle 8?!
CRAAASH INTO ME.
I reckon it could be quite trancey judging by the lack of lyrics, maybe? So excited now anyway!
I'd imagine one of (probably the final) the 'missions' will be the actual song. We'll probably get video stills, lyrics and maybe album info along the way too.
Interesting! I think it'll be a cross between Collide and Only Girl possibly with a hint of Bounce
Love it!
Christ, what an EXCELLENT cover
Looks very Rated R style. Loving it!
That COVER! She looks AMAZING!
Just to reiterate what everyone else said, using mainly hyperbole, that cover is BRILLIANT and far better than any of the artwork from the 'Loud' era (although I do quite like the album cover itself). I'm surprised Calvin Harris is actually a featured credit, but that's the norm nowadays - at least it'll give him a long-awaited third UK #1
She just HAS to have a #1 album this time!
Capital FM are playing this at some point today.
Will be played some time after 2pm.
Ahhhhhhhhhh! EXCITING!
I'm listening to 'Rated R' on repeat until 2pm in preparation. Haha.
Really looking forward to this! Rihanna never fails to deliver! I still cant get over how quickly a new single to a new album has come already, Cheers is still out & doing well (most places still climbing up) and Loud is still doing well after selling so many already! Just wow!
and love that cover too.
I'm excited about hearing this too, I'm hoping for the same sort of feel production wise as 'Feel So Close' but I'm confident it'll be ace.
Euphoric!
EEEEEEEEEEE.
Yessss, this was exactly what I was hoping for it to be! Ahhhh incredible.
SHE CAN DO NO WRONG.
No wonder its featuring Calvin Harris, a lot of the song is the beat and emphasis on the beat.
OUT NOVEMBER 21ST.
Love rihanna.
Need to listen few more times before I comment on the song.
Sounds great on first listen, and really not at all like the 'usual' Calvin Harris sound either, he's become a lot more than the one trick pony his debut album suggested he would be!
WHOA WHOA
That lead up to the chorus gives me life. Sounds promising for the rest of the album YAY
Where can I hear it?
http://soundcloud.com/headphonesupiii/rihanna-f-calvin-harris-we
(hope that this is allowed)
Just Heard this on Kiss 100 WOw Rihanna actaully can do no wrong she just out with banger after nager defor number 1
This may shoot up my iTunes play count list rather quickly
Doesn't sound like anything amazing after the first listen, doesn't seem to go anywhere and the chorus is so repetitive, although some of the instrumental pieces are funky.
Definitely not what I expected and it's really more fluffy than I would have wanted. It's going to be stuck in my head all week though.
For a lead single from an internationally successful popstar how can you really go much edgier than this?
I think it's risky, different and most importantly VERY GOOD on first listen. It strikes me as a grower. Great vox.
It's alright. I expected much better but this is very pedestrian.
I can imagine there being an epic rave video.
I wouldnt describe it as risky or different though, definitely fits in very well with majority of material that is out now.
Definitely growing on every single listen, i just love this woman!
W-f***ING-OW. This is what I wanted from Collide. Sorry to steal Ryan's post but this is EUPHORIC. AHHHHH OMG Sorry I'm in loon mode so hard right now
She's certainly not disappointed me, loving it so much!
Wow!
Only Girl In The World was an amazing way to kick off a new album... but I think I like this one alot more!
Never fails to impress!!
Yes, I much prefer it to 'Only Girl' too. Her vocals are PERFECT in this, in 'Only Girl' she often sound a bit shouty (for lack of a better word)!
LOVE IT! the production is so strong, although that's calvin. most of his productions tend to be
I love the after chorus breakdown and the verses, but I am not keen on the lead up to the chorus and the chorus seems a little too repeatitive for me. I do have a sore head though and we haven't heard it in HQ, so I might not be able to appreciate it just now and I might need to reconsider later on.
Rihanna, you seem to never disappoint.
It is very good, but not amazing JUST YET - but I'm almost certain it'll be amazing after a few listens.
I swear this woman never goes on holiday. Another single & album so soon? Blimey. On the whole, I like it, but she's done better. It feels very album fillery for now, though I remember thinking this with 'Only Girl (In The World)' and 'What's My Name' to begin with too so maybe this'll grow too.
Not even close to the level of Only Girl (or Man Down for that matter) for me. I don't like it.
[insert generic this song is so f&^%Ł$ing AMAZING comment ] I can't wait for November 21 - so I'll be buying from the Australian store when it comes out there
I love this!! It was all going perfect and I was just hoping as the last instrumental chorus started she would sing over it and she did!!! Perfect
This is good on first listen (I'm liking it more than I did 'Only Girl' on first listen at least!) It's completely different to what she's done before, which is good! I am thinking it'll be better in HQ and LOUD though. Welcome back Rihanna!... OH WAIT...
Compared with Only Girl it hasnt clicked with me how quickly that did, after one play I was hooked and did not stop listening to it for god knows how long
Now that we found love what are we going to do with it?
Out in the US now!
Also, I really hope this is on-air/on-sale in the UK - they'd be completely stupid no to do it with this; it's going to be huge anyway, and it'll just get even more sales being released now in the UK.
Oh my god I f***ing LOVE this woman. Amazing song, how does she do it, she's surely got to f*** up sometime?! I agree with the comments regarding 'Collide' done right.
When you're around me, I'm radioactive.
Quite repetitive, but the build-up to the first main chorus is amazing and it already sounds better on second listen. I think I liked Only Girl more when I first heard that, but already better than Russian Roulette & Umbrella (which I find overrated and at one time hated).
I think this is third best lead single for me.01. 'Take A Bow' (It launched the reloaded version of GGGB so I dunno whether you want to count it or not! haha)
01. 'Russian Roulette'
02. 'Umbrella'
03. 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
---
04. 'SOS'
---
05. 'Only Girl (In the World)'
06. 'Pon De Replay'
1-3 are 10/9 out of 10's! 'SOS' is an 8 and the last two are 7's.
01. 'Umbrella'
02. 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
03. 'Only Girl (In the World)'
04. 'Take A Bow'
05. 'SOS'
06. 'Russian Roulette'
07. 'Pon De Replay'
'Umbrella' is a 10/10; 'We Found Love' an 8.5 (currently); 'Only Girl' an 8; 'Take a Bow' and 'SOS' at 7.5 and the last two are 6.5-7
She's never had a duff lead single.
Really like it. Not amazing. I prefer all the singles from Loud. But I despise Calvin Harris so considering its one of his productions I'm surprised I like it at all. Think it will be a grower too.
Just got round to listening to this as I just came back from my Biology trip LOL.
REALLY like it. maybe not as much as 'Only Girl (In The World)' but it'll definitely grow.
10/10
01 SOS
02 Take A Bow
03 We Found Love
04 Only Girl (In The World)
05 Russian Roulette
9.5/10
06 Pon De Replay
9/10
07 Umbrella
Yes that is serious![/loon]
Yeah it really isn't doing it for me at all. I did expect as much given Calvin did the production and everything he's put his name to post 'Acceptable in the 80's' has been utter crap. It's just dreadful, I really dislike that style of music and hope it phases itself out very soon. Her vocals lift it a little and there's a decent hook so it isn't a total loss. I could imagine a stripped back version beind quite pleasant.
As for a lead singles rank/rate:
10 Russian Roulette
10 Only Girl (In The World)
08 Umbrella
08 SOS
07 Pon De Replay
06 Take A Bow
03 We Found Love
01. 'Russian Roulette'
02. 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
03. 'Umbrella'
04. 'SOS'
05. 'Only Girl (In the World)'
06 'Take A Bow'
07. 'Pon De Replay'
Maaaan she's had some killer first singles!
Did I read it's on US iTunes? If so does anyone have a HQ version they could send me please?!
It is indeed - and check your inbox
1. Umbrella
2. S.O.S.
3. Russian Roulette
4. Only Girl (In The World)
5. Pon De Replay
6. We Found Love
7. Take A Bow
I would only really describe the top 3 as "killer first singles", 'Only Girl' is good and grew on me but nothing amazing, she usually releases better singles later on in the campaigns.
1. Only Girl (In the World)
2. We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)
3. Russian Roulette
4. Take a Bow
5. Umbrella
6. SOS
7. Pon De Replay
I find it difficult to rank her lead singles as none of them are anywhere near my favourite songs of hers, not even one would be in my Rihanna top five. I guess Take A Bow and Russian Roulette come closest and actually I really do like We Found Love too. I've always found Umbrella and to a certain extent Only Girl (In The World) overrated and I don't care for SOS or Pon De Replay.
This sounds INSANE on incredible speakers, HQ.
THE BASS PEOPLE
Its not bad, not brilliant. Hopefully it will grow.
Currently #40 in the US iTunes
I wish they released it on a Tuesday so it could've gotten a full week of sales.
EDIT: up to #33 now
EDIT: up to #25 now
KK, now I'm obsessed.
I echo what Rob just said.
I'm obsessed too LOL
This is bloody good. Had it on repeat all day. Sounds incredible in HQ.
I prefer it to "Only Girl", however neither are particularly ground breaking or good.
EARGASM! ><
The chorus is a bit of a let down, but THAT build up! And I don't really find it repetitive ?
Cannot wait for the video, and the X Factor performance!
Instant love. Much stronger than 'Only Girl' which took me a few listens to love. Looking like a mix of Rated R and Loud.
Artwork is amazing!
Very infectous, i find myself just randomly singing along 'We found love in a hopeless place' and its only premiered today
I keep thinking it's 'homeless place'...I thought that ONE TIME and I can't get it out of my head now!
'We found love in a homeless place'...ARGH.
Sorry guys but I dont think its that great. Quite bland and somewhat repetitive. Not a patch on "only girl".
This is MILES ahead of Only Girl. Go Calvin! First US charting song!
linky please
I ts great but im not sure if its as good as Only Girl
'Only Girl' has got nothing on this!
I know it's not even been out 24 hours yet but this is up there with Rihanna's best imo. Her vocals, the lyrics, the production...everything just blows me away.
Although this is still very repeatitive, I love it to bits now. Its so catchy and the instrumental is just emmence. I love how Rihanna has a different approach every era - the first era was very reggae, second era was more poppy but still reggae influences, third era was r&b, fourth era was dark pop, fifth era was more pure pop mixed with the new dance sound (Only Girl) and the sixth era has started off different again, with a more trancey sound, which isn't familar to Americans at all. I love how she evolves and doesn't just try and recreate what she has done in the past, because she knows its sucsessful. She so far has pulled of every single change in musical style so far, and pulling it off in such little time. Amazing.
It's great. This really solidifies Rihanna as my favorite mainstream pop artist only second to Beyonce. I don't know how huge this will actually be tbh but I really like it.
I still like Only Girl better tho ~ ~
OK I'm now obsessed with this song!
Maybe I am the only one who doesnt really get her new song. I loved "only girl" straight away and it became an instant monster dance hit for me but I just can't get into this song in the same way.
Finding it seriously hard to listen to anything other than this right now. It's one of those songs that just NEEDS to be on repeat. Aaah!
Probably the most times I've listened to a song in a day...ever.
I wonder why they havent put it on her official youtube account yet!
#3 on US iTunes! Definitely heading for #1!
It is on her YouTube account:
Took 2 listens but I like it
01. 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
02. 'Only Girl (In the World)'
03. 'Umbrella'
04. 'Russian Roulette'
05. 'Pon De Replay'
06. 'Take A Bow'
07. 'SOS'
The song is absolutely brilliant. Her best lead single for sure. Although I love Only Girl a lot too.
Agreed about the comments about her vocals. Much improved!
Got round to listening to it. This is great, really great. Time to loon for Rihanna again.
Not like there was ever a time not to loon for her!
http://www.rihannanow.com/
New website unlocked via Mission 4
This came on last night and I went absolutely crazy. Sounds AMAZING in a club!
When i was searching it on youtube it wasn't coming up. Is that on Rihanna's vevo?
It's easily her best lead single.
Hopefully the music video will be a MOMENT in itself too. Therefore no Anthony Mandler please.
01. 'Only Girl (In the World)'
02. 'Umbrella'
03. 'Pon De Replay'
04. 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
05. 'SOS'
06. 'Russian Roulette'
07. 'Take A Bow'
On first few listens We Found Love is already better than 3 of her lead singles, quite an achievement. I imagine in a few months time it'll be number 2 (or maybe #1 but Only Girl is such a great tune)
01. Only Girl (In The World)
02. Umbrella
03. We Found Love (ft Calvin Harris)
04. Pon De Replay
05. Take A Bow
06. Russian Roulette
07. SOS
1) We Found Love (This could easily drop down in the future but currently, ADORE)
2) SOS
3) Only Girl
4) Pon De Replay
5) Umbrella
6) Russian Roulette
7) Take A Bow
I still love Take A Bow, though.
JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON.
1.) Umbrella
2.) Only Girl (In The World)
3.) Russian Roulette
4.) S.O.S
5.) We Found Love
6.) Take A Bow
7.) Pon De Replay
OK. I have decided this IS her best lead single. It's also an amazing pre-drinking/getting ready song! Gets you WELL in the mood! She rarely fails to deliver! I love this woman SO, SO MUCH!
VISCOUNTESS RiRi really has had some STELLAR lead singles (and follow on singles too actually). But this is currently my favourite. I already feel like this is the best, there's something tellingly timeless about it already.
Her greatest hits record if released now would be unparalleled and she doesn't even appear to have reached her artistic or musical PEAK as of yet.
This has now overtaken 'Russian Roulette' as my favourite lead single too. I'd say 3rd favourite single overall after 'Hard' and 'What's My Name?' but even that could change in time.
Definitely one of my favourite songs of the year, just CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT.
Heard on facebook that she's filming the video in a field in Northern Ireland. Is this true ?
Pictures from the set of the music video;
Reminds me of the 'Only Girl (In The World)' music video but with more clothes on
Here is a vid with some behind the scenes footage
Also, she was filming last night in the dark on some streets in the city centre of Belfast, there was a scene where she was being pushed down the street in a shopping trolley My friend posted a video onto facebook but i can't share it
Also, there are loads more pics in this link
http://hiphop-n-more.com/2011/09/on-the-sets-rihanna-we-found-love/
We can decipher from this that RiRi has NO QUALMS topless sunbathing.
YOUNG FREE INDEPENDENT WOMAN
This made the National news on BBC 1 - can't believe the farmer hadn't heard of Rihanna!!
I didn't realise she smoked though. Disgusting habit.
Rihanna gets mobbed by fans in Belfast in between takes, check out the video
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-15079413
"She has cavorted in a north Down field, she has eaten fish and chips in the city centre and on Tuesday Rihanna completed an unlikely hat-trick by appearing in the New Lodge area of north Belfast.
The multi-million selling R&B star filmed the next segment of her latest video in amongst the New Lodge flats.
And she was mobbed between takes as fans desperately tried to get close to their hero.
On Monday, Rihanna upset a Bangor farmer with her racy outfit but her latest visit proved a lot more popular with the punters.
As well as filming the video in Northern Ireland, Rihanna has also sold out the Odyssey Arena for three concerts later in the week."
Good God, this farmer is quite patronising, isn't he?
"I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God". WOT?!
It says it all that they deem that field a 'hopeless place' btw
I love this so much. Not my favourite lead single, but definitely a 10/10. !
Could someone send me a link plz?
#16 on Billboard. Why is it falling on iTunes? I hope the video is out soon, I really want this to go to #1.
OBSESSED with this!
Cannot wait to hear it live on Wednesday!
Am I the only one who's getting tired of this already? I mean I haven't even listened to it in a few days, I have no desire to... It's very good but I think I overestimated it at first, it's not quite as mindblowing as I thought at first.
^^ It's nothing mind-blowing full stop Kinda reminds me of Pixie Lott's 'All about Tonight' - I loveee Pixie loads, and was addicted to AAT when it came out but by the time it was released I was bored of it. I think the same will happen with this single :/ Butttt, she could have really high opening sales if she keeps the release date as it is, who knows?!
Same happened with AAT for me too And it's slowly happening with this too - I feel like a flop RiRi loon!
I don't know who the biggest Rihanna loon is on BuzzJack. I'm hoping its me
But even I am not as obsessed to 'WFL' as much as I was in the first two days of its release
I just hope the second single is much better.
Saying that, maybe the music video will make me love the song even more, who knows ?
'We Found Love' is still incredible to me! This last quater of the year is ALWAYS so good for new music though. Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, The Saturdays (MHTO), Cher Lloyd and others. Those four would definitely be number 1 in my personal charts at some point, if they weren't up against each other!
I've noticed how busy it is too, I've got My Heart Takes Over, Marry The Night, Shake It Out and Don't Go Breaking My Heart fighting for the top. Poor Rihanna will drop to like 6/7
I got tired of Only Girl rather quickly a week or so after I first heard it. Similar with the next two Loud singles; it took a while for me to like them again. Only Girl is now my favourite of those three. I'm still not tired of We Found Love.
It's not her best work by any means, but it's still up quite high in there.
This does bode well for the new album, and of course, RiRi's success in my personal chart.
YELLOW DIAMONDS IN THE LIGHT
Easily cemented itself as one of THE pop releases of the year. Stunning stuff.
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME
Its' released tonight on Irish iTunes
Seriously?!
Have the Sugababes taken over control for this era for something?WEDNESDAY?! I guarantee it'll peak at 2 behind overrated Moves Like Jagger -_-Hopefully it can maybe keep up enough popularity to stay at 2 all week and overtake MLJ when it begins to fall.
A Wednesday! No, no...
You know, it could still go to #1. I'm being optimistic, but it could beat MLJ, it's a slow week. Probably will stall at #2 or #3 now, though, a la Born This Way.
I don't think this is deserving of #1, its a good song but not great, not in the same league as any from the 'Loud' era imo. I really hope the 2nd single + album tracks are better.
Maybe this means her X Factor performance will be next Sunday, as they usually have a huge artist along with the previous year's winner on the first live show? I hope it doesn't beat MLJ this week, but it can have as many weeks after that at #1 as it wishes
Does that mean released tomorrow night? I think it could maybe get #1 with 4 full days sales. It'll be interesting for sure
What difference does it make whether it gets to #01 or #02 this week? It won't alter how successful it is overall. If it's going to the massive FORCE many expect then she'll reach the top the following week surely?
People are too inherently obsessed with chart positions and don't look at things beyond the coming Sunday it seems.
Then surely that highlights what a manipulated process the charts are? It isn't a barometer of the most popular song of the time rather the perfectly timed release to get the right and highest number of sales between Sunday-Saturday, which I'm sure is what it isn't about to most posters here as it doesn't mean anything?
Besides 'We Found Love' isn't really comparable to 'Born This Way' or 'Where Dem Girls At'? It's a totally different release strategy and the song isn't selling on the hype of a return?
Can I just say she looks SO GOOD with platinum blonde hair!
#93 on iTunes already
Please let this be #1 for ever and ever.
In what universe this is Rihanna's 'return'?!
I sat and cried that week. I just couldn't take the lack of Rihanna.
Rihanna clearly saw that and decided to release her new single on wednesday of all days
Rihanna Becomes Fastest Solo Artist To 20 Hot 100 Top 10s
Rihanna roars to a 20th Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single faster than any other solo artist, as "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, darts 16-9 in its second chart week. Having first graced the Hot 100 the week of June 11, 2005, with the eventual No. 2-peaking "Pon De Replay," Rihanna reaches 20 top 10s in a span of just six years and four months, besting Madonna for the quickest collection of top 10s among soloists (from an artist's first Hot 100 appearance) in the chart's 53-year history. Madonna tallied her 20th top 10, "Hanky Panky," the week of July 28, 1990, for a stretch of six years and nine months after her chart introduction with "Holiday." Rihanna, thus, bests Madonna's mark by five months.
Among all acts, Rihanna's run to 20 top 10s is the second-fastest. Only the Beatles sprinted to the sum more quickly, taking just two years, seven months and one week between their chart entrance with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" (Jan. 18, 1964) and "Yellow Submarine," which sailed 52-8 the week of Aug. 27, 1966. The Supremes are pushed to third-place among all artists, having collected their 20 career top 10s in a span of six years, five months and one week in 1964-70.
With the vault, Rihanna becomes the 14th artist to garner as many as 20 Hot 100 top 10s and just the fifth woman to earn the honor. Among women, Madonna leads with 37 top 10s - the highest total among all artists - followed by Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (27 each) and Whitney Houston (23).
Prior to Rihanna this week, Carey had been the last artist to reach 20 top 10s when "Thank God I Found You," featuring Joe and 98 Degrees, blasted 22-2 on the Feb. 12, 2000, chart (a week before it led the Hot 100 for one frame).
Notably, in an era where songs can scale the Hot 100's upper reaches in their debut week solely on the strength of hefty first-week digital sales, all 20 of Rihanna's top 10s have received radio support concurrent with their moves into the Hot 100's top 10. Seventeen of the 20, in fact, have reached the top 10 on Radio Songs, with eight bounding all the way to No. 1. And, even the three songs that missed the Radio Songs top 10 still made the list's top 40 ("Break It Off," No. 11; "Russian Roulette," No. 35; and, "Cheers (Drink to That)," No. 13).
"Found" jumps into the Hot 100's top 10 with dual Digital and Airplay Gainer accolades. The first single from Rihanna's sixth studio album, due Nov. 21, charges 7-6 on Digital Songs (147,000 downloads sold, up 25%, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and 75-38 on Radio Songs (33 million audience impressions, up 129%, according to Nielsen BDS).
All charts, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed tomorrow (Oct. 6) on Billboard.com.

In comparison, Britney only had ELEVEN Top 10's with FOUR #1's among them. CRAZAY.
Really enjoyed reading that. Does show though when people moan how she should slow down with releasing albums so fast, which I do agree on but she is smashing records and achieving big things atm, and most of all she seems to genuinely enjoy it now. She looks happy to be on stage performing and I really do believe she is making the most of it and has adapted very well, especially since the 'Loud' era.
Heard it out for the first time (because I requested it). Sounded SO DAMN GOOD.
It's got me into it again (not htat I was ever really NOT into it but still). Kept requesting it again and again but they told me once was enough.
It does sound fantastic in a club.
it seems that she topped UK singles chart
Rihanna gets her 6th UK #1 with 'We Found Love'
Really happy for her, hopefully the #2 curse is gone FOREVER!
EDIT:
According to the OCC, 'We Found Love' sold 87,000 copies with four-day sales.
I kinda guessed when I saw Calvin's tweet It's great for her, releasing midweek with minimal airplay and no video, getting there on name and hype alone
Amazing! I genuinely thought it would be over for her after M5 had the XF exposure!
I really loathe this song. But it's fun to make fun of how shit it is when you are drunk.
With that being said, not hating on Rihanna. This is the only single by her I have HATED except 'Take A Bow'.
I LIKE this but I don't LOVE this. It's pretty good but there's nothing particularly special about it. I too hope there's something much better on the album - I can think of at least five Rihanna songs more deserving of #1 than this.
I think we're getting the video today. Rihanna keeps tweeting about it at the moment, has said on Facebook we are "unlocking something very special" today, and whilst tweeting about the video she posted a link to the 'UNLOCKED' page on her Facebook...
She is perfect.
"We're gonna f*** on a tractor"
She really is amazing
She really is.
The choreography for it is looking sweeeeeet.
I love her so much, her personality is perfect . The video sounds pretty good as well ... loved her description of it at the end.
Love her accent!
Comfortably my favourite pop song of the year now. Still feels and sounds SO SO FRESH EH EH.
Video premičring today! Confirmed by Rihanna on Twitter.
Ooooh yes!!!!! Will we get it today, or will it be tomorrow for us do you think?
Today is a very good day for videos, Brit, Nicole and now RiRi!
She didn't say a time, but it'll probably be early morning for us.
I know i'm wishful thinking here, but I'm hoping it'll premiere on X Factor since tonight's her last night as a guest judge.
But eitherway, I can't wait to see the video
Dear Rihanna, it's my birthday so hurry up with my present already! I want the video now!
Watch the video http://www.rihannanow.com/news-article/video-premiere-we-found-love/.
WOW. I was not expecting that at all. Probably her best video to date!
Def one of her best videos! AMAZING
Wow! Much 'deeper' than I thought it'd be! Love the concept of it and glad that the snippets we managed to glimpse didn't give away too much!
Is that Calvin doing a 'Guetta' awkwardly DJ-ing in the middle of the muddy field rave?
I can't get it to load at the moment, obviously the site's overloaded!
It's been added to her Vevo too, but it's not available for viewing yet. It'll appear here:
I wouldn't say I love it - obviously the message at the beginning is nice, but I don't really like what I see. It's edited very well though. I don't understand how one of Kendro managed to end up being the love interest though? Although I'm guessing it's supposed to be in some way a portrayal of Chris Brown.
Perfect video Love it, didn't expect it to be this good tbqh, it seemed all a bit rushed since Cheers' video didn't really premiere all that long ago!
It's definitely different. I'm not quite into it yet, but with a few more viewings I know I'll love it - it's still brilliant though, and nice to see her doing more of a concept video than a dance/posing around video (Only Girl, CKB etc.)
LOVE IT. Easily my favourite video of hers now for me
Now I love it, brilliant RiRi
WOAH.
From the photos I was assuming it'd just be her prancing around in a field (which would still have been lovely, don't get me wrong)...how wrong was I?!
It's like watching Rihanna in Shameless.
I really like the video, much more interesting than most of the Loud videos.
Amazing video! Surprisingly not as shallow as I expected! I feared it would be Only Girl 2.0 (OG was amazing but I wouldn't like another one) and this pretty much blew me away! Wonderful. Still not that mad about the song but it's good.
Fantastic video. Probably my favourite of hers yet. The intro made me really emotional. Brilliant.
This woman is tremendous. THIS is the sort of thing Gaga used to bring before she became quite so overblown in her video art - the full spectrum of emotions, relevance, grit, and a hard-hitting message that connects. Gorgeous. Probably my favourite video of the year, and although the imagery isn't quite as appealing as in the Rude Boy video it's easily the best of her career in terms of the full package...
It doesn't even feel as if Rihanna is at the TOP OF HER POTENTIAL yet, which is the amazing thing!
I was gonna say it was like watching Rihanna in Skins. Really good video, I'm very impressed.
Still don't think much of the song though.
As much as I criticize Rihanna at times, when this woman delivers, she really delivers some brilliant stuff. Definitely her best video to date and up there as one of the best of the year.
The video is so good. Anybody know who directed it? I love the images when the mix is playing before the chorus. Total mindf***.
I think the video is going to come in for a little bit of stick though, not because of the drug, drinks, smoking, carlsberg product placement, sex, gambling, stealing, fighting lol, more because of nthe very obvious portrayl of Breezy!
Agyness Deyn is the woman speaking in the opening monologue. How cool.
It's safe to say that this is the peak of her career.
AMAZING.
Hmm, I'm afraid I don't get the fuss over the video. Then again I think the song nigh on unlistenable so yeah, I guess I'm going to have to sit this one out.
Wow, so much to it! Definitely shocked
Ri
Wow. I don't know what else there is to say about the video when it's all been said before (and probably better than how I would post it haha) but yes brilliant video and shot beautifully.
Everything about this song/video/release is just plain GOOD.
There's a lot of hyperbole surrounding this. It's a very good video but I don't think it really suits this particular song at all - it would've gone much better with something from Rated R. A Calvin Harris-produced track says 'let's lark about in a field ala Only Girl' to me. I'm not knocking her for pulling out a very strong video with a message though, and the Making Of video makes me luff her even more.
The song remains GOOD, but no more.
I love the video and it fits the song reasonably well. Not what you'd expect but that's not a bad thing. I wonder if this will be the era of fantastic music videos?
Apparently this is also being plugged as Calvin's third single?
@CalvinHarris The Rihanna one is 3rd RT @NATEosaur I know "Bounce" and "Feel So Close" are doing amazing right now but when can we expect a third single?
Add me to the love of the video. Amazing stuff there.
Everything about this has been SO perfect. I don't know how it can get any better.
This is now my favourite Rihanna song and my favourite Rihanna video.
Hoping 'Talk That Talk' overtakes 'Rated R' as my favourite Rihanna album.
I just wish she'd kept the red-head look
RiRi shot a video defining a hipster way of life
Much time for the continual smoking EMBLEM
Johnkm doesn't like anything good. SHOCKEH EH?
The video has got me hooked on the song!
DRUGS
This video is SPECTACULAR. I think it's easily in contention for her best video yet, shame it isn't for a better song but you can't win 'em all.
Seriously on its way to becoming my favourite Rihanna song EVER. Just doesn't get old.
The video is definitely her best thus far too. My love for this woman just can't be put into words.
I've come to the conclusion that the video is amazing, but the song is still only just above average for me.
best rihanna songs //
01 only girl (in the world)
02 we found love
03 what's my name
04 umbrella
05 rude boy
06 sos
07 disturbia
when you look back on her career thus far, it's pretty incredible that she's had 7 of some of the greatest pop songs of the past 10 years.
Just seen the video on 4music for the first time, it really looks amazing on the bigger screen and the song is fabulous too
Didn't rate this much until the video came out. Love it now.
Coldplay covered this in the Live Lounge today
I think it was a really good re-imagining of the song!
Coldplay covered this in the Live Lounge today
I think it was a really good re-imagining of the song!
The amount of fans that were around when they shot the car scene.
#1 in America
11th Billboard #1! And a #1 for Calvin!
So happy about this, and for this to be her eleventh no1 is pretty bloody amazing. Mariah has the highest no1's for a female in the US at 18 I think, she's been around over twenty years, Rihanna 6? I think in time she might just nab that, pretty incredible.
Flop.
The video is too druggy I think, but the song is literally amazing!
Calvin did a great job
Finally love this. Took a minute.
Can't get over how good this sounds in a club. AMAZING. Still not bored of it either, sounds as fresh as it did the first time I heard it!
They played this as a warm-up at the Britney gig I went to last week and it sounded truly amazing. I'm still not properly won over though. I am amazed at how fantastically it's done so far. She just gets bigger, it's RIDIC.
Single is sooooo sick!
67. Rihanna [ft. Calvin Harris]
"We Found Love"
[Def Jam]
As much as Rihanna's highly publicized private struggles and darkly domineering performative persona have shaped her into a compelling pop figure, she still makes one hell of a cipher. Musically, the Calvin Harris-produced smash "We Found Love" is pure house hedonism, and it calls for a singer who can surrender herself in equal measure. But here's the thing: If it were just some no-name vocalist blissfully exhorting, "We found love in a hopeless place," ad nauseum, then it wouldn't be half as effective, because the surrender wouldn't mean anything to us; it wouldn't feel earned. She may not be as outsized a personality as Lady Gaga or Beyoncé, but right now Rihanna's making the entire pop world bend to her whims, and if this song is powerful enough to make her lose herself, then the rest of us don't stand a chance. --Josh Love, Pitchfork
My Review
GRADE - 10/1
When I first heard this song I was like this is good but not the best but with everytime I listen to this song I love it even more. Chorus is great but the verses are even better, her voice is just amazing in there absolutely blowned off I am. So I'm very glad that it stayed as no. 1 in UK for 3 weeks then lovely Professor Green and Emeli Sande took the UK crown for 2 weeks but gave it again to Rihanna and Calvin Harris for them to rule again to another 3 weeks. About the video I love the video even more for this song, It's absolutely amazing. The locations and photos are great and the story behind it the whole poem about loving someone I think she wrote it of her heart. the English Boxer who plays as her boyfriend/ husband he's absolutely great actor too. It's my 2nd favourite Rihanna song ever nothing can beat good old classic Russian Roulette but this even better than Only Girl (In The World) who made me really fall in love deeply with Rihanna
MC Handsome
Will probably hot 100 no.1 tomorrow!!
This just doesn't get old...still as in love with it now as I was on first listen.
Definitely surpassed 'Hard' as her best song for me. And it's by far my most played song ever...
SAME CREMEY. 'What's My Name', 'We Found Love' and 'Umbrella' are her three best songs for me, all three are completely timeless imo and so feel good too.

Original demo with raw vocals
There was some payola for We found love on Spotify, it was very high up on NYE playlists. Bodes well she might actually be releasing something this year.
Re-enters tsp at #89 this week.
Would’ve been nice if it go a reset.
Re enters at 86 here in Ireland.
Surely it should be Calvin ft Rihanna?! He wrote the song and most of it is hos instrumental, with not a lot of singing!!
