Rihanna has almost finished working on her sixth studio album, producer Verse Simmonds has claimed.
Simmonds produced Rihanna's latest single 'Man Down' alongside Jugganauts partner Sham 'Sak Pase' Joseph, and has revealed that the pair have also been helping out with the new record.
"From what I understand, she is closing the album up now," Simmonds told MTV News. "We did two records for her that she really, really loved and I'm really excited about them as well."
"They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts," Simmonds added, before teasing that the two may also produce a third Rihanna track.
He also said that he is "99.999%" sure that the Jugganauts' contributions will make it onto the final record.
Earlier this month, Rihanna was named 'Woman of the Year' by Vogue Italia for her extensive charity work and success as a solo artist.
Rihanna recently confirmed that 'Cheers' will be the sixth single to be taken from her platinum-selling album Loud.
EXCITING!
That was quite quick! I saw this on DS earlier and was quite shocked she's finished so soon! But then again she has had an album out each year since 2005, so it makes sense she keeps following the pattern, and it's less of a wait for new music - which is always good of course!
She's literally like a machine/product! Thankfully she churns out good pop songs every era.
I'd really love another Rated R type album where it's obvious more time was spent on it and that she had more personal involvement in the process, Loud was nowhere near as good but still 'decent pop'.
When is the new album going to be released? As I thought there was a Loud re-release planned for this year?
I'm loving her more and more with every era. Each era is like an improvement on the last. It works so well for her and what's more impressive, is the fact she doesn't spend too long between each era recording new material for an album. Some artists would kill to make albums as good as hers in just a short space of time.
I'm really, REALLY looking forward to it. But surely there's a limit? Surely she can't go on for much more longer producing one of the best Pop'n'B records...
Very exciting!
I would love another album similar to 'Rated R' but that album did reflect her personal life.
A mixture of GGGB and Loud would be great - songs like Rehab, GGGB, TAB mixed with WMN? and OG(INW).
OMG YES!!! I can't wait for new Rihanna tunes. Loud was such an excellent era (excluding CKB) so another album later this year would be AMAZING I'm just hoping her lead single isn't a disapointment (like Russian Roulette)
Am really looking forward to seeing Rihanna back at number one in my personal charts I'm sure whatever she releases will be great, I'm worried she may have peaked but I'm confident she'll be great
I expected her to release a greatest hits next but i'm glad she isn't. A new album is much more exciting.
She gets better on every album. Can't wait.
A GH must be due soon? that would be epic!
What would she call her greatest hits? 'Good Girl Gone Bad RiRi-Loaded'?
I'd love a greatest hits collection along with a DVD with ALL her videos on there. (Like Britney's 'Greatest Hits: My Prerogative' - but include ALL songs and videos )
It still feels a little too early in her career for a GH I reckon. I'd prefer if she did a J.Lo and wait a while.
I'd rather she re-released 'LOUD' I feel that 11 tracks wasn't enough she's going really fast with her albums.
Regarding the greatest hits, she will have one hell of a catalogue the amount of hits that she's had, either way, it'll be an amazing greatest hits.
I wish she would revisit songs in vein of "Fire Bomb" & "Disturbia".
I recon this could be an EP type album, from the clues given it seems likely!
She said on Twitter, not a new album, not a re-release but YES to new music! So sounds like an EP to me!
She could call it #1s as most of her songs are #1s somewhere...
Perhaps a bit of a long title but I think it should be called 'That Rihanna Reign Just Won't Let Up'! Perfect title.
Anyway, looking forward to new music from her, she always brings the goods.
I hope her new album will be more Caribbean-influenced and show more of her roots (no red hair jokes ).
According to her Facebook page there is a MAJOR announcement coming this Wednesday. Woop!
And who announces a pregnancy announcement? LOL.
People are f***ing stupid.
I cant believe she already has another album in the pipeline. She is just constantly releasing something...
One more PROPER album (with 15/16 tracks, not 11) and then maybe a greatest hits
I'd love if she came back with a more hip-hop sound like GGGB, mixed with a bit of dance, a few chilled pop songs and a ballad or two
Oh, and a new hair style - and wardrobe :L
I love how she has a new hairstyle each era, it really helps to define it!
What colour hair do you think she should try out next ?
I wonder if she'll keep the brown she has right now. I'd love to see her try out a dark purple hairstyle
BLUE! Katy Perry 'California Gurls' cover, style blue
Although the red hair was nice, GGGB haircut is still my favourite - particularly Umbrella & Don't Stop the Music videos.
Black - done
Red - done
Blonde - done/conflicts with Beyonce
Pink - conflicts with Nicki Minaj
Blue - conflicts with Katy Perry
Purple - conflicts with Jessie J
Brown - natural and done
Maybe Platinum Blonde or Green.
rainbow coloured hair
It looked so much better when she cut it all off
There's rumours that the album will follow a more island theme, a la "Man Down'. Hope she revisits this little treat
On some I read that apparently the single will be released in Novemeber, but they had no tweets or source, they said Radio 1 had mentioned it? Well, if it is true - an XF slot!
http://www.bet.com/news/music/2011/06/17/rihanna-to-re-release-loud-.html
Unfortunately, it looks like a re-release.
Good thing imo, will help album sales alot and jumping onto another album so soon would be a wrong move imo. Still excited to hear new stuff from her, I've overplayed 'Loud' far too much and need new RiRi in my life!
I wish they would announce something officially, Is there a Cheers video coming out aswel?
'Cheers' music video should be on the way
She tweeted this on August 17;
I WANT A RIHANNA USB STICK.
Hopefully we'll get confirmation soon. My money is on a re-release.
I'd be quite happy with a re-release, normally I'd say move onto the next album, but she is very quick to move on. Plus Loud only had 11 tracks, so a few more would be good. If she does do it though I hope we get at least 5/6 new songs. Not 3 like GGGB Reloaded.
I think a re-release is a good idea. Its a bit too early for a new album yet. Good girl gone bad spawned about 8 or 9 singles, so I'm sure loud can be stretched further yet.
I don't get the "Cheers longest shoot ever"... wasn't it a recording of her performing it on the tour? Unless she was being sarcastic, lol.
Anyway, a re-release is fine with me as long as it comes with a companion album.
I take it her team have finished this and she's just going to lay down her vocals a couple of weeks before release like Loud. Interesting that she worked with Britney not long ago and she's turning into her as far as career involvement goes. Shame she has all these big hits and she makes so little from them! Another mercades for Esther Dean! Get those endorsements Ri you need to make money somehow.
I'm pretty sure she's doing fine financially somehow LOL.
Excited for a re-release! Hopefully Rihanna can get a #1 this year! (I can't remember if WMN got #1 in December or January) and yeah this era has been so successful, it would be a shame for it to be over in just one year.
Don't artists mostly get their money through touring and promotion?
Yep, that's why they don't like people selling "fake" merchandise outside of concerts.
They may not make a lot of money off CDs but a successful album leads to a successful tour
A tweet from Rihanna;
From DS:
I love how dedicated she is. I'm so excited for a new album!
'Fire Bomb' Part II PLEASE.
I take it we aint getting a re-release then of loud?
Nope. Brand new album!
Seeing as it's released in November too, am I right in thinking about ANOTHER XF performance??
We're getting a 6th album already? Now that is very good. Can't wait to hear it.
I suppose I hadn't got used to the lightning pace Rihanna goes through her albums. LIKING it though.
I hope this era gets managed as well as 'Loud' is/was. A lead single that got promoted before it was released, an X Factor performance which pushed the second single to #1 despite selling well on its own - A third single that gets everyone talking... A fan favourite and rock-inspired ballad and a chilled single to end off the era with a look to really define the whole thing. Also other places got the stand out track for me... Man Down.
Compare that to Rated R... Lead single randomly released midweek that charted, peaked too soon then dropped... Confusion over the second single where radios were playlisting one song and music channels were playing the other... A promo track that got a video that was also getting played on music channels. And then it took the record company ages to choose a third single which ended in the song underperforming and the era ultimately being over... Then they try and release a fourth single but it didn't even out-peak its original peak from the second single confusion. Not mentioning an abysmal album peak for a superstar!
Compare the eras and the Loud era has been fantastically managed, compared to the Rated R release strategy (or lack of it...) So I have faith in her and her team to really push and advance for this era. Can't wait!!
Apparently the release date has been confirmed (in a recent press release) as 21ST NOVEMBER.
Pretty much exactly a year after 'Loud' and two years after 'Rated R'! Love how she always releases albums within a week of my birthday! Ha.
On the basis of 'We Found Love' COLOUR ME THOROUGHLY EXCITED for this record.
The album title is hidden in the logo:
It'll be revealed after there are enough guesses on Twitter using #unlocked
I'm thinking it could be called 'Talk', but that would be a pretty crap name imo.
'Talk That Talk' has appeared several times on Twitter; pretty crap name, but then again, most of her album titles have been shit.
I don't think Talk That Talk is that bad a title.
Rated R is still her best title!
f*** that
f*** that
Music Of The Sun
A Girl Like Me
Good Girl Gone Bad
Rated R
Loud
Talk That Talk
Hmmm... intriguing title, I quite like it But in order of my favourite titles it'll have to be;
Rated R >>>>>>> Good Girl Gone Bad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Loud >>>>>>>>>>>> Talk That Talk >>>>>> A Girl Like Me >>>>> Music Of The Sun
It must be a combination of the words: Talk (x2), Found, Girls, Answer, When.
Rihanna
Mission #5: UNLOCKED! Rihanna's new album, TALK THAT TALK, out November 21st! #TalkThatTalk http://on.fb.me/qytYE2
Talk That Talk is quite a good title I think, better than Loud However the actual album will have to go quite some way to top Loud!
I think its a pretty good title, not amazing. But album title doesn't really mean anything anyways.
Wow, she does seem to be releasing albums around the same time (2nd-3rd weeks of November) lately
Uhmmm, there's a poll on her facebook page that asks: 'What do you want Rihanna to reveal next in UNLOCKED?'
16k people answered "Sex"
6.4k people smiled ":)"
5.3k people answered "Her boobs"
ROFL
Adjusted the title a little
'Talk That That'?
LOL woops, fail mod/rihanna fan.
Does anyone have any info on what producers she is working with ?
apparently this is official cover
Hmm.. I'm actually contented with that if it is the album cover. But i'm still hoping that's fanmade and the official one will be so much better
The outfits a bit meh, but as usual Rihanna makes it look good
Please no
Rihanna just tweeted that there will be a deluxe package with its own cover.
The official album cover;
OOOOOOOOOFF.
Deluxe edition cover;
Not a fan of the standard. She looks very Beyoncé and it's just not very... Rihanna even if it has "ATTITUDE" and "SWAG" and everything else RiRi is generally associated with. I much prefer the deluxe.
I prefer the standard! She looks great in it, plus the deluxe one looks very cheap... Glad it's finally been unveiled though
They're both... interesting Anyway, at least it's been unveiled
I think I slightly prefer the standard because it's more colourful, but then it could be better getting the deluxe because of extra tracks. WHAT TO DO.
Wouldn't say I LOVE either though, 'Loud' had a much better cover.
Not really a huge fan of either.
My only request for this album is that when I buy it, it better not be censored like my Deluxe copy of Loud was. That was so annoying.
The standard cover is AMAZING
The deluxe cover is much better, following Pixie Lott in having the deluxe cover better than the standard. Except the standard is still good here, not a constipated picture like Pixie's
Loving the covers. I prefer the deluxe one though.
I prefer the standard.
Hope there's an album booklet to rival Rated R which is brilliant.
Standard is better. Rihanna is FINE
I prefer the deluxe so much more. It fits in so much better with the logo and just more effective. There is a 'tracklist' floating around which lists We Found Love as a bonus track and a track with Cheryl Cole ( ) so most likely to be fake.
The deluxe one is far too reminiscent of her Music of the Sun/Good Girl Gone Bad phases which is a bit of a step back as far as I'm concerned. The standard is easily her best so far though!
I actually really, really love both! The standard in particular!
Deluxe cover is fantastic!
I deffo prefer the deluxe. So does this mean that there will be a version with more tracks? Hopefully more than 11 songs this time!
Does the deluxe remind anyone else of the deluxe of Born This Way? Obviously the standard is far better than the GaGa equivalent...

They sound very 'Rated R' type titles.
Can't wait to hear 'Monkey See' and 'Battle of Nerves'. They sound like the best tracks to me, just judging by titles obviously!
OMG all of them titles are amazing. Does sound VERY Rated R from the titles. I do hope it is a little more rocky/gangsta like RR. but still quite dancey at the same time. Excited for this now!
That's fake, no? The "official picture" thing of it doesn't list any of the features on the tracks, not even the one we know about (Calvin).
EDIT: Yeah the picture is fake, they just cropped http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2009/stylewatch/blog/090817/kat-mcphee-500x375.jpg one
Very 'Rated R' esque, I agree from those titles. I hope the album goes against the clubby 'We Found Love' style and goes more to the 'Rated R' style again, as that album is still my favourites of hers so far. I love dark Rihanna
DAMN. I was looking forward to hearing 'Suicide'
Not as fond on the title/album cover as much as Loud & the cover for Loud. But i do like. She looks like Beyonce a bit on the cover

'Hardback Book Edition' sounds exciting!
I bought GGGB reloaded the other day at Morrisons and I really cannot wait for this album now. I've finally warmed to the first single (mainly thanks to the video) and I can't wait to hear the next single. Hope they are as good as Only Girl and What's My Name.
Also, I think the caption under the banner in her forum might need a little updating... "We've all stood under her umbrella, and now megastar Rihanna is set to release her 4th studio album later this year! Talk about her upcoming new single and everything Rihanna in here!"
I need to hear more singles from this album. I do really like We Found Love but I need more.
Rumours...
- There is a collaboration with Katy Perry on the album.
- The album has a more 'urban' sound on the whole.
- The second single will be the title track and it will be released on 14th November.
Ugh no to all of the above (unless by 'more urban' they mean lots of Man Down)
The 2nd Single Is rumoured to be called Black Butterflies
I just want this album like right now. RELEASE IT ALREADY GODDAMMIT.
I can't believe the album will be out in 13 days in Australia and we still don't have a tracklist!
TALK THAT TALK TRACKLIST
1. You Da One
2. Where Have You Been
3. We Found Love
4. Talk That Talk
5. Cockiness (Love It)
6. Birthday Cake
7. We All Want Love

9. Roc Me Out
10. Watch n' Learn
11. Farewell
DELUXE:
12. Red Lipstick
13. Do Ya Thing
14. Fool In Love
Love seems to be so common there
Titles are mehh but its all about the music bring on November 21!
Ya Da One? Do Ya Thing? Roc Me Out? Drunk On Love?
I'mma be sic.
Not really feeling the titles, but hoping the songs themselves are better. I have a feeling there will be lots of references to alcohol on this album, even moreso than the last
I read this on a blog earlier:
Some information has been said about the songs like Where Have You Been is a progressive dance track which has been compared to Don't Stop the Music (one of my favorite Rihanna tracks) and Fool In Love is described as a ballad which contains Rihanna's best vocal performance yet, and Red Lipstick... well a demo (which sounds a lot like Rihanna) was premiered back in August (which you can check out below) but it's not sure that this is the track we are talking about. But remember this all could be complete BOGUS because nothing has been confirmed yet. I will update the post if anything comes up.
This was the demo to 'check out below':
I'm thinking she should push Talk That Talk back to possibly 5th December - as it doesn't seem possible it will be out in 2 weeks (even though I'm ridiculous excited for it! )
Why push it back? The album's done, they confirmed that.
By the way:
From her Facebook! Saxon is from Rated R, and the "demo" can be heard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5lKswpb6e8, which is strange!
Do we know about the producers of the songs? Chase & Status said on Radio 1 a few months ago that there was a track they gave to Rihanna for Rated R which didn't make the album, and that she might put it on her next album.
I hope for a lot of Stargate songs too. And Ester Dean.
I hope that tracklist isn't real. I hate slang in song titles. Hopefully RiRi sees sense and changes the titles!
She says it's real, but Answer is gone, and it'll be a different order.
Oh, that's good - I didn't realise it was all finished (I'm sure that she was in the studio a few days ago)! Defo looking forward to this
But I hope that Cockiness isn't the new Peacock
Not too keen on the song titles tbh I'm sure it will be amazing, but it still feels a bit rushed and I would've been fine with 'We Found Love' being released next Summer with the album following in Autumn.
I seriously hope she's had some writing credits on this. She didn't have any on Loud (from what I remember) and that really annoys me. Would love if she performed on the X Factor final again this year, but maybe that's a bit too much to ask for
She's tweeted that there's one collab and she's got the best! (Katy Perry???)
It's just Jay-Z according to Stargate I'm sure the track will be amazing anyway!
Yesss, can't wait for the Jay-Z collab.
'JUST' Jay-Z???
-Who is calling?
-You know JUST Jay-Z. NO BIG DEAL.
I didn't mean 'just' in that way, I meant it in the way she has collaborated with him before (Umbrella and Run This Town) so it isn't as exciting to me.
I can't wait for Umbrella Part II () - am so excited to hear more from Rihanna this year Jay-Z never disappoints too (well I do hope his rap is better than the one he did on Umbrella)
Yes, I'm happy about Jay-Z!
So far, in terms of producers, there's two Stargate songs (one written by Ester Dean), one Calvin Harris song, and one Chase & Status song.
The title track will be Stargate produced, so as far as I'm aware, this will be the first time ever that Jay-Z will rap on a Stargate beat!!
It's strange to think that Stargate work for Def Jam/Roc Nation, and produced many of the biggest hits from the record label, but they still haven't done a song with Jay-Z himself yet.
Every Rihanna album should be blessed with a Drake collaboration. THAT IS ALL.
I want a Rihanna and Katy Perry collab!! If it's not on Katy's next album I will cut someone.
f*** that's got me so excited for this!
Definitely my most anticipated release of the year and it's out in less than two weeks!!!
album clips:
http://www.tunetribe.com/product/rihanna-talk-that-talk-explicit-version?id=5465656&ref=_irf_arp
The build up and marketing online for this album has been incredible.
Roc Me Out from the snippets
Cannot wait for this to leak.
'Birthday Cake' is very Nicki Minaj 'Massive Attack'! AMAZING.
'Farewell' is actually my favourite from them, I love a good Rihanna ballad!
I love it when you eat it.
Dirty bitch.
I'm so addicted to the clips. 'Where Have You Been' is ANTHEMIC.
'Drunk On Love' and 'Roc Me Out' sound like stand-outs at the moment too.
I have a feeling this will be the first Rihanna album I will properly LOVE. Hopefully Roc Me Out and Watch N' Learn will improve as they are so far the only two I didn't like.
Overall, AMAZING.
'Where Have You Been?' is my favourite from the clips. Can't say any of the others sound particularly great, though I'm sure I'll love them once I've heard them in full.
The one which sounded like 'We Found Love' was my favourite from the clips, although that could've actually been 'We Found Love'; I wasn't really paying that much attention, but there wasn't much great from what I heard.
Where are these clips?
Farewell and We All Want Love sound GREAT, the rest not so much.
It sounds mighty generic. I'll pass.
Cockiness, Birthday Cake, Drunk On Love and Farewell sound the best to me, seriously excited for this album
I can't say I'm even half excited for this as I was for 'Loud'.
it doesn't sound like it's going to be as good as 'loud', going by the clips. most of them don't sound like my cup of tea that much, 'cockiness' in particular sounds awful.
I do like the sound of 'where have you been', 'drunk on love', 'farewell' and 'you da one' though.
Cockiness is a proper STINKER, I can already tell. I have never liked a single song produced by Bangladesh. Birthday Cake sounds awful too but it's just an interlude.
Where Have You Been?, We All Want Love, Drunk On Love and Farewell sound like the best songs since the clips demonstrate some proper melody there but clips are notoriously misleading so we'll see. Roc Me Out is typical Rihanna/Stargate.
From DigitalSpy:
1. You Da One (Produced by Dr Luke, Ester Dean)
Already billed as her next single (to be officially unveiled tomorrow), 'You Da One' is a bouncy, midtempo number oozing with Caribbean flavour. "You da one that I'm feeling/ You da one that I'm loving," she boasts before the chorus of playground chanting ensues, followed by a sludgy dubstep moment in the middle.
2. Where Have You Been (Produced by Dr Luke, Ester Dean)
This immediate standout kicks off to a cantering acoustic beat as RiRi wonders how she's been coping without the current beau in her life. As the trancey, Benny Benassi-esque beats slowly seep in, she asks, "Where have you been all my li-i-i-ife?" In short, it's the album's 'Don't Stop The Music'.
3. We Found Love (Produced by Calvin Harris)
You should all know about this one by now; and in the context of the rest of the album it's easily its most club-friendly moment.
4. Talk That Talk (Produced by Stargate, Ester Dean)
The only collaboration on the album, because, as her manager puts it: "We didn't believe in collaborations. It's important to stand on your own." Over a seductive, booty-bouncing riff that samples Notorious BIG's 'I Got A Story To Tell', Hova does his usual braggathon ("We're heading to the top/ If you're coming come on"), while Rihanna flirts: "I love the way you talk that talk to me."
5. Cockiness (Love It) (Produced by Bangladesh)
"I want you to be my sex life," she reveals on this head-spinning cut that infuses dancehall, hip-hop and jungle beats to glorious effect. "Suck my cockiness/ Lick my persuasion/ Eat my words and then/ Swallow all your pride down," she unashamedly asks, before admitting, "I love it when you eat it" on the earworm hook.
6. Birthday Cake (Produced by Da Internz, Dream)
The LP is divided by this brief interlude, which clocks it at 1m 18s. "I'm-a make you my bitch/ It's not even my birthday/ I wanna f**k you right now," she teases over squelchy and distorted electro beats. On first listen, however, it seemed to disrupt the flow rather than help it along.
7. We All Want Love (Produced by NO I D, Ester Dean)
The first of two slower moments on the record (three including the bonus tracks), Ri admits that behind all the whips, chains and filthy puns, she's a big ol' softy at heart. "I can pretend that I'm not lonely/ but I'd be lying to myself," she admits over stadium-shaking drums and a lullaby guitar riff, before declaring: "We all want the same thing/ We all want love."
8. Drunk on Love (Produced by Stargate, Ester Dean)
We correctly guessed the producer of this track due to its trancey, 'Te Amo'-esque intro that samples The xx's own 'Intro'. Rihanna declares herself "a hopeless romantic... I just wanna be in love", over a storm of drums and clattering synths. It also includes the LP's most thoughtful lyric: "I wear my heart on my sleeve/ Always let love take the lead."
9. Roc Me Out (Produced by Stargate, Rob Swire)
A jet-black, crotch-popping number oozing with 'tude and a killer chorus that makes for another standout moment. "Roc me out back and forth/ Roc me out on the floor... I've been a bad girl daddy," she teases. In short, it's the love child of her previous smashes 'Hard' and 'Rude Boy'.
10. Watch n' Learn (Produced by Hip Boy, Pricilia Renee)
Ri gets her Nicki Minaj on over a playful and flirtatious hip-pop melody and suitably grinding synths. In her speedy speech she tells her man everywhere she wants to get it on - including the bed, the floor and the couch.
11. Farewell (Produced by Alex Da Kid, Ester Dean)
The title may make it seem the obvious closing track, but this emotive ballad still manages to hold the pace. "So farewell/ Somebody's gonna miss that you were here," she calls out over a suitably rousing melody as she wishes the ex who dumped her all the best for the future...sob!
BONUS TRACKS:
12. Red Lipstick (Produced by Chase & Status, The Dream, Rihanna)
Despite some dodgy claims that it pinches Metallica's 'Wherever I May Roam', Chase & Status have nonetheless put their stamp on this dark 'n' twisted dubstep number.
13. Do Ya Thang (Produced by The Dream, Rihanna)
A light and fluffy R&B number with a subtle hook and a simple message. RiRi states: "At the end of the day you are who you are and I love you that way." Can't say fairer than that now, can you?
14. Fool In Love (Produced by Dr Luke, Ester Dean)
Rihanna channels Madge in this midtempo closer about being in love with a bad boy. "Papa he's quite a man, he adores me/ he's my biggest fan," she insists over acoustic guitars that quickly build into '80s-rawk ones, before claiming: "We're too far down the hole/ He's got a hold on my soul."
You Da One has premiered:
http://justjared.buzznet.com/2011/11/11/rihanna-you-da-one-first-listen/
Very questionable dubstep section but the rest is pretty catchy I'd say.
Interested in hearing 'Drunk On Love' (The xx sample), 'Roc Me Out' (Rob Swire production) and 'Red Lipstick' (Chase & Status production). Not awfully excited about the rest to be honest. 'Cockiness (Love It)' sounds ODD.
Isn't Roc Me Out Stargate produced?
Digital Spy has the credits listed wrong. Rob Swire is the co-writer, Stargate co-writer and producer.
CHECK MY SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE.
I'm losing faith in her, 'You Da One' is possibly the worst song she's recorded and 'We Found Love' (although it's vaguely grown on me) is hardly anything to write home about. Loud had a handful of very good songs, but nothing that was truly up there with her best for me. I'm hoping the album has better on offer.
Deluxe version of TTT already #11 on Uk iTunes just from pre orders!!
I thought the Roc Me Out clip was a bit STANDARD. Stargate on autopilot. We'll see though.
9 songs have leaked xD
All songs from the standard edition apart from 'Cockiness' it seems.
Heard 'Where Have You Been' so far and it's a lot better than 'You Da One'. The Jay-Z collab is OK but nothing special.
I love how she manages to produce such great albums without taking breaks and manages to change slightly each time. So far it doesn't seem to be in the same vein as Loud or Rated R.
Watch n' Learn is my least favourite upon first listen through. The two slower songs are both good but 'Farewell' has the edge right now. WHYB remains the biggest highlight.
Farewell is wondrous. Drunk On Love and We All Want Love are also very good. The rest I can take or leave at this point.
Watch N' Learn and Roc Me Out as expected are POO.
We All Want Love and Where Have You Been however are incredible.
Good lord. Where Have You Been is BEYOND STUNNING. It's like Rihanna takes on Marry The Night with an added twist of CRAZY.
FULL STAN MODE *_*
first listen review...
09 You Da One
11 Where Have You Been
10 We Found Love
08 Talk That Talk (ft. Jay-Z)
-- Cockiness (Love It) [NOT LEAKED YET]
09 Birthday Cake
10 We All Want Love
10 Drunk On Love
11 Roc Me Out
09 Watch N' Learn
10 Farewell
AMAZING *_*
I love what I'm hearing of the album so far. I love Farewell. But honestly, Alex Da Kid is one of my favourite producers (even if a lot of his songs sound the same ), so I'm really happy they worked together again. They should make it tradition that she does one of his ballads at the end of each album.
I'm listening to Talk That Talk atm. I really like it. It's very urban sounding. Although Stargate do re-use parts of their beats in songs a lot. Like this sounds like a mash-up of Black and Yellow, Rude Boy and Till I'm Gone. Not that I'm complaining, it's a great song imo.
I can honsetly see Talk That Talk being cherry-picked the most when the album is released (unless You Da One isn't released before then), since it's the title track, and features Jay-Z.
Roc Me Out is also very standard Stargate, although I do like it.
Only listened to Drunk on Love so far (apart from the hideous first single), and I really like that one.
Apparently Cockiness has now leaked too (although I don't know where, but surely someone will upload it to Youtube in a few minutes, if you just search for the song, go on "most recently uploaded", and refresh every few minutes, if you're really desperate ).
SUCK MY COCKINESS, LICK MY PERSUASION.
BEST. RIHANNA. SONG. EVER.
Background guy making weird sounds. *.*
The very ending of the song is WORTH DYING FOR.
07 You Da One - unbelievably crap second single choice, total filler moment
08.5 We Found Love - solid but not great in the context of her singles cat
10 Where Have You Been - BEYOND fab
08 Talk That Talk - great production, not much of a hook though
06 Cockiness - not as bad as I expected, still filler
01 Birthday Cake - DIRE
08.5 We All Want Love - so lovely and fresh, old-school Rih
07.5 Drunk On Love
07 Roc Me Out - standard Stargate, bit of a retread
08 Watch n' Learn - super catchy, growing on me even during the first play
09 Farewell - lovely lovely lovely, great melody
Overall I think the album is on a similar level with LOUD albeit with less outright highlights.
Cockiness (Love It) is alright-ish probably a 7 but it'll probably grow on me. Loving the DIRTYYYYYY lyrics
Not everything has to be a 10. Although according to your review IT DOES.
06 You Da One - it's alright, not something I'll ever chose to listen to though.
03 We Found Love - decent melody, awful production.
02 Where Have You Been - it was going so well until that Godawful breakdown.
07 Talk That Talk - would be better without the rap.
00 Cockiness - the kind of shit I HATE.
-- Birthday Cake
08 We All Want Love - nice melody, nice production, YAY.
09 Drunk On Love
08 Roc Me Out - surprisingly good.
05 Watch n' Learn - it's proper filler.
10 Farewell - AMAZING.
This post was brought to you courtesy of Vidcapper.
Bangladesh should produce an entire Rihanna album with Drake and Kanye featuring on every other song. YES.
This is typical generic filler crap ETC ETC ETC.
But BANGLADESH IS CRAP. I can just about stomach Cockiness but I can't imagine how anybody could want an album full of his tuneless hood crap.
Cockiness is a skipper, so with Birthday Cake & Watch n' Learn it makes three that I don't care for.
Where Have You Been is still brill. If she doesn't release it as a single or at least make a video ._.
Oh my lord Birthday Cake!!
Love it so damn much, really hope we get a full version at some point.
'Where Have You Been', 'Cockiness' (apart from that hideous Soulja Boy-esque 'yoooooooooooou') and 'Talk That Talk' are other highlights for me atm.
RATE:
We Found Love - 11
You Da One - 3
Farewell - 8
Drunk On Love - 7
Everything else - Meh.
08 You Da One
07 We Found Love
10 Where Have You Been
08 Talk That Talk
07 Cockiness
06 Birthday Cake
06 We All Want Love
07 Drunk On Love
10 Roc Me Out
06 Watch n' Learn
07 Farewell
'Where Have You Been' and 'Roc Me Out' EASILY the best two. Quite like 'Cockiness' for the time being, but I'm sure the novelty will soon wear off. Overall, OK.
'Where Have You Been' is completely STUNNING. In love with it so much, if that's not a single I will cut a bitch!
What quality is the leak? I want to hear the album, but I'd more than happily wait if the quality is poor.
It's HQ (the one I have is anyway!).
07.0 'You Da One'
06.0 'Where Have You Been'
10.0 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
08.0 'Talk That Talk' (feat. Jay-Z)
06.0 'Cockiness (Love It)'
06.5 'Birthday Cake'
08.5 'We All Want Love'
08.0 'Drunk On Love'
07.5 'Roc Me Out'
06.5 'Watch N' Learn'
09.0 'Farewell'
'Farewell' is the answer back to 'Fire Bomb'! Absolutely beautiful! Overall though. It's the weakest of her 4 albums since she properly "made it" (i.e. GGGB). But that's only one listen through and it's a good album. I just don't "love" it yet. Not getting the love for 'Where Have You Been' yet, either. But hopefully it'll grow.
What am I saying. Of course it'll grow, it's RiRi!
HQ? I don't think there's HQ anywhere. Bitrate of the leak is 128.
It's leaked?
Oh God, *looks at date* Can I hold out until the CD arrives? Can I (read: can't be bothered to go looking for a link, even though I really want this)?
Will have to consider this. 9 days to go...
First listen rate:
10.0 You Da One
10.0 Where Have You Been?
09.0 We Found Love (ft. Calvin Harris)
09.0 Talk That Talk (ft. Jay-Z)
08.5 Cockiness (Love It)
07.0 Birthday Cake (would be higher if it was longer!)
07.5 We All Want Love
08.0 Drunk On Love
09.5 Roc Me Out
05.5 Watch N Learn
10.0 Farewell
Overall I love it! Watch N Learn is definitely filler though, and I'd rank it below Loud and Rated R, though I'd not be shocked to see it overtake the latter I'd rank the album thus:
01 Where Have You Been?
02 Farewell
03 You Da One
04 Roc Me Out
05 We Found Love
06 Cockiness (Love It)
07 Talk That Talk
08 Drunk On Love
09 We All Want Love
10 Birthday Cake
11 Watch N Learn
R8 TIME
08.0 You Da One
10.0 Where Have You Been
09.0 We Found Love (ft. Calvin Harris)
08.5 Talk That Talk (ft. Jay-Z)
10.0 Cockiness (Love It)
08.5 Birthday Cake
10.0 We All Want Love
09.0 Drunk On Love
06.0 Roc Me Out
05.0 Watch N Learn
06.5 Farewell
What the FUCK is this *_* shit people are using these days?! It's *.* and that's the NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS.
Anyway, that aside I need to let this album settle but it's NO Loud/Rated R
Where Have You Been is EPIC! This album is really good from the song I've heard so far
I love the title track.
Duuurty.
Not as many stand out tracks compared to 'Loud'. Loving it though. 'Birthday Cake' is a major WTF moment though.
I've come to the conclusion that this is overall a FAR better album than 'Loud'. Not quite 'Rated R' standard but I'm seriously loving it at the moment and it's definitely my second favourite album of hers. Currently on repeat alongside Drake's 'Take Care'.
'Talk That Talk' is quickly becoming one of my favourites on the album. Jay-Z & Rihanna work so damn well together.
The album is growing at quite a pace but it's held back by the fact that there are only about two or three huge standouts. LOUD had more despite being patchy and so did Rated R.
The album is actually growing on me quite quickly too now, I found Loud far more instant though but then that had the two singles and LTWYL part II to ease me in whereas I only knew one song on here beforehand. It also lacks anything as excellent as What's My Name but is overall quite high quality and consistent. Rate after a couple of listens;
08.5 'You Da One'
09.0 'Where Have You Been'
09.5 'We Found Love' (feat. Calvin Harris)
08.5 'Talk That Talk' (feat. Jay-Z)
08.0 'Cockiness (Love It)'
07.5 'Birthday Cake'
08.5 'We All Want Love'
08.5 'Drunk On Love'
08.0 'Roc Me Out'
07.0 'Watch N' Learn'
09.5 'Farewell'
Looking forward to the bonus tracks! Can't see it overtaking the previous three albums in my affections but then I'd count all of those in my all time top 100, might overtake Good Girl Gone Bad.
Cant wait for release!
05 'You Da One'
07 'Where Have You Been'
09 'We Found Love'
06 'Talk That Talk'
05 'Cockiness (Love It)'
03 'Birthday Cake'
01 'We All Want Love'
06 'Drunk on Love'
03 'Roc Me Out'
04 'Watch N' Learn'
03 'Farewell'
The album is the pretty much the definition of average. 'Roc Me Out' has been done to death now, 'Cockiness' is cringeworthy and I usually like Bangladesh productions, 'Drunk on Love' somehow makes The xx generic and uninteresting. I felt like 'You Da One' was beneath her but after listing to the album... Maybe not. This really could be anyone, non? 'Loud' was obviously more patchy but this is consistent purely because everything is rather dull.
NEGATIVE TRIANGULAR NANCY.
You Da One - 8.0
Where Have You Been - 9.0
We Found Love - 9.5
Talk That Talk (ft Jay Z) - 7.5
Cockiness (Love It) - 3.0
Birthday Cake - 4.5
We All Want Love - 7.5
Drunk On Love - 8.0
Roc Me Out - 10.0
Watch N' Learn - 5.5
Farewell - 9.0
Overall, I am liking the album, but not loving it like I did with 'Rated R' and 'Loud'. 'Roc Me Out' has to be a single, its like a mix between Rude Boy & Hard (a.k.a Rihanna at her best) and I think 'Where Have You Been' and 'Farewell' could make good singles too, and I suppose 'Talk That Talk' would do well due to Jay being involved and its great instrumental, but I can't help think the chorus is a let down.
Roc Me Out is RATHER DULL. The sound of Rihanna on autopilot which isn't something you hear often.
I can't agree... she's never jumped so headfirst into dance/trance as on Where Have You Been for example. Cockiness is a much more alive, improved take on the urban thing she was going for with Raining Men. Nothing here reinvents the wheel but sonically there's still some new territory for her.
The album is amazing. Much better that Loud.
'Where Have You Been' has to be a single. 'Roc Me Out' sounds like 'Rude Boy' and 'Hard' mashed, which isn't a bad thing? I love 'You Da One'
I haven't heard the whole album (videos are hard to find on youtube) but from what I've heard it's all excellent Can't wait!
I'd imagine they're saving Where You Have Been until 4th or something, it'll still be absolutely MASSIVE even then.
In a perfect world Where Have You Been would be the third and final single and then she would record another album for next November and give the public a bit of breathing space. Nothing else after that is crying out to be a single.
Clips of the bonuses are on iTunes now by the way. Red Lipstick is boring as hell. Do Ya Thing is pretty lightweight, bit of a chore possibly. Fool In Love could potentially be good.
I have to say, 'Where Have You Been' is quite epic. I've not heard all of the album yet, but that's the only thing that has excited me about this whole era so far.
*edit - well, except the video for 'We Found Love'.
Can anyone send a link my way please? Loving 'You Da One' right now
Where Have You Been, Roc Me Out and Drunk on Love are the Standouts
Is Birthday Cake really only 1 min 18 seconds long or has a clip only leaked so far?
Only a clip has leaked so far.
I'm holding out for a FULL release but this is how I feel:
10 Watch N Learn
10 You Da One
10 We Found Love
09 Drunk on Love
08 Roc Me Out
08 Talk That Talk
08 Where Have You Been
07 Birthday Cake
07 Cockiness
04 We All Want Love
04 Farewell
"GOOD"
'Birthday Cake' is only an interlude, I think that's all we're getting. Booooooo.
some1 lied to me
I think they are now making it to a full song. I've seen twitter proof somewhere.
Seriously good album. Love most of the songs, although I'm not too fussed on Cockiness or Birthday Cake.
The deluxe tracks have leaked too now. Fool in Love is amazing!
Red Lipstick is GOOD. The other two are fucking boring.
high quality out
I so LOVE 'Watch N Learn' makes me wanna POP my PUSSY ha.
iTunes+ file leaked which means I've finally downloaded AND I'M LOVING IT.
Also. Amazon previously listed the deluxe cd with a hardback book... that's the one I've pre-ordered, it still says that in my order history... but it no longer shows up on the search and when I click on it, it just says Deluxe CD. Does the book exist?
I really don't like the new album. I won't be buying it.
First impressions of this album is that it's more consistent than Loud. That isn't really a good thing though. Loud had 5 songs that were between 7/10 and 10/10, and the rest were terrible. All the TTT songs are just kind of middling at the moment... Cockiness and Drunk On Love are the only songs that have stuck out. I think this album will spawn hits because of Rihanna's status but I think none of them will be remembered long, falling into that same bucket as Hate That I Love You and Shut Up & Drive.
I need some new Rihanna that will make me go mental in a club like What's My Name does. Nothing on this album is doing it.
Take Care is better than anything on this album.
I think i can hear Ester Dean in The Chorus in We All Want Love
I only really like about 5 songs on this album, which include we found love, where have you been, we all want love, farewell and drunk on love.
Can't get enough of 'Where Have You Been' right now
It's by FAR the greatest thing on the album. The somewhere in the CROWD moment is absolutely epic.
Seriously can't get enough of this album!
11 Talk That Talk (ft Jay Z)
10 Where Have You Been
10 We Found Love
10 Birthday Cake
09 Roc Me Out
09 You Da One
08 Watch N' Learn
08 Cockiness (Love It)
08 Farewell
07 Drunk On Love
06 We All Want Love
...and they're all continuing to grow. MADNESS.
Might actually overtake 'Rated R' sometime in the not too distant future...
This is a SHINING album. Up there with 'Born This Way' for best (and in a way only good) pop releases of the year.
'Birthday Cake' is the future of pop and I want the obviously existing full version to come into FRUITION IMMEDIATELY.
Cannot wait for a full version of Birthday Cake!
Also, cockiness is stuck in my head.
If Birthday Cake is the 'future of pop' then TAKE ME TO A BRIDGE and I will JUMP.
I think this is her most consistent album yet
Loving Cockiness and Drunk On Love, and You Da One is growing on me as a new single. Birthday Cake should be about 5 minutes longer though .
For some reason Cockiness reminds me of Sweet Escape era Gwen?
OMG! Just got this thing finally!
Will be back in 49 minutes and 2 seconds. I have something to do.
After playing the album for a second time, it's a much better album; it just needed to sink in. I'm really liking 'Where Have You Been?', 'Talk That Talk', 'Farewell' and 'Roc Me Out' now, and I'm sure a few others will begin to grow on me! Definitely not as filler-heavy as I initially thought, although with the tracklist being longer than that of Loud's, I should have expected a similar amount of standouts (6:5)
Liked that a lot on one listen through. Definite highlights are the opening 5 tracks (Cockiness is great on first listen especially)
And Farewell is great as the RiRi ballad this era (which is what I'm guessing it is, will get accustomed to it)
So enjoying it. I will start to become obsessed as I listen to it more.
I'm waiting for my copy to arrive from Amazon - hopefully tomorrow!
so Birthday Cake IS just 1 min 18 secs long???
Where Have You Been really grew on me. Sounds insane in headphones.
Rihanna
Talk That Talk
Def Jam; 2011
6.0
"We found love in a hopeless place." Over a frantic, Calvin Harris-produced, Guetta-meets-"Sandstorm" beat on her sixth record's lead-off single, Rihanna repeats these words almost 20 times. "We Found Love" ranks among Ri's best singles because it recognizes that there's not much more that needs to be said: in three and a half minutes, the line moves from being a great pop lyric to a triumphant mantra to something suggestive of a whole spectrum of unspoken emotion. The best pop music transports you to somewhere beyond words, and Rihanna's strongest singles are all seem to be in on this secret. Need I remind you of some of her most powerful hooks: Ella-ella-ella-ay. Oh-na-na. Ay-ayy-ay-ayy-ay-ayy.
But as anyone with a Twitter handle will tell you, these are chatty times, and in 2011, the pop landscape's fittingly caught between two maximalist extremes: the winking theatricality of Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry, and the dribbling confessional-pop of Drake, Kanye West, and (yes, they're more alike than they'd like to believe) Taylor Swift. Barbados-born, millions-selling, armfuls-of-awards-winning Rihanna has found staggering success (23 years old; eleven #1 singles and rising) borrowing a little bit from each of these tendencies. Her recent music videos have dabbled in trendy pop artifice (check out her neon-hued, irresistibly smiley turn in Guetta’s "Who’s That Chick?" or the David LaChapelle-aping-- literally-- "S&M"), while her brooding and personal 2009 album Rated R commented-- however obliquely-- on her public struggles. Rihanna seems more comfortable flitting between these two extremes than settling on either, but her past two albums have at least had some thematic cohesion. The same can't be said of Talk That Talk: Heavy on filler though it's only 11 tracks long, it feels not only slight but muddled, an assortment of half-baked ideas that never bloom. A stitched-together collection of club bangers, sleaze-pop missteps, and mid-tempo inspirational ballads, Talk That Talk feels at times like three different records, only one of which might have been any good.
Of course, what we're supposed to be talking is about how this is Rihanna's "dirtiest" album yet. Early blog chatter reported to lots of critics blushing in preview listening sessions and making questionably bold declarations ("The dirtiest pop album since Madonna's Erotica!") that suggested that they listen to very little pop radio, or that they have never been to an R. Kelly concert. Talk That Talk's raunchier moments should surprise no one: Rihanna's always been singing about sex-- she's just never shown such an unfortunate proclivity for cheesy lyrics and dessert metaphors. "Suck my cockiness/ Lick my persuasion," Ri commands on the embarrassingly literal "Cockiness (I Love It)", hoping the boldness of the delivery will distract you from thinking about what a clunky line it is (it won't, though Bangladesh's beats might). The Esther Dean-penned "Drunk on Love" features a weak chorus lyric and vocal whose bombast feels out of place in the track's laid back, xx-sampling atmosphere. Clocking in at a puzzling-yet-merciful one minute and 18 seconds, The-Dream co-produced "Birthday Cake" is even more heavy-handed (lots of icing puns). There are flickers of empowerment here, but mostly it proves little more than the fact that a female artist can be responsible for Jeremih-grade cheese, too. A Rihanna album has never been without the occasional lyrical misfire ("Sex in the air/ I don't care/ I love the smell of it" comes to mind), but at least on a track like "S&M" she sounds like she's having fun. For a record so preoccupied with passion and pleasure, most of Talk That Talk feels unsuitably robotic.
At least things start out strong. Talk That Talk's saving grace is its first stretch of tracks: the blithe and tropical "You Da One", "We Found Love", and the album's other Harris track "Where Have You Been", which doesn't stray much from the single's winning formula, a simple lyric of romantic longing that explodes into a club-ready beat. And though it's no "Umbrella", the Jay-Z reunion "Talk That Talk" is one of the more playful moments here, though I'll say that the patented H.O.V.-giggle doesn't feel entirely earned following a line like: "Had it by a bladder/ She like 'oh I gotta pee'."
I've read some comment-section conspiracy theorists who believe Rihanna is in single-minded pursuit of Hot 100 domination, and the rate at which she's pumping out albums (roughly one a year since 2005) is an attempt to populate the singles chart until the end of time. There might be some truth to this (her singles collection is going to be killer), and with "Death of the Album" prophecies ever looming it's worth wondering whether or not that's such a crime. But 2011 found plenty of pop artists still breathing new life into the format: Beyonce's 4 and Lady Gaga's Born This Way were probably the most solid examples-- two bombastic records that also explore the nuance of their respective artists' personas. Talk That Talk tries too hard to send a more one-dimensional message and ends up falling flat: Rihanna's obviously going for sexy here, but her music's at its most alluring when she's blissed out in her own reverie, not taking the time to spell it all out for us. - Pitchfork
Generous score tbh and 'You da One' remains awful. Strange how they have complimented 'Born This Way' multiple times but never reviewed it.
Hasn't really clicked with me yet. Talk that Talk is the only song I love..Need to give it a few more listens
Probably not a good idea to listen to this after Drake's
Didn't know where to post this so i'll just post it here, it's just silly trivia really! , when I was looking through the TTT tracklist I noticed there was a lot of title's including the word 'Love'. So I looked at previous albums and it turns out every Rihanna album has had a song with 'Love' in the title!
Music Of The Sun
If It's Lovin' That You Want

13 songs, she could make a whole albums worth of this.
Rihanna - The Love Album
There's no 'love' word in If It's Lovin' That You Want.
It's longer but she didn't even have time to finish it. Shows you how rushed this whole thing has been.
I can't take anything seriously which tries to claim 4 is a great album.
Talk that talk ft Jay Z is #17 on UK i Tunes

NO TA!
Universal does have a tendency of coming up with bizarre packages and sticking a hefty price tag on them. I probably wouldn't want to spend £30 on that, let alone £130.
I don't think this is quite as bad as Lady GaGa's vinyl box set for Born This Way though (one track on each side of 9 picture disc vinyls = £120!)
The album's already been certified Platinum in the UK!
Why is Birthday Cake even there? It makes no sense to shove an OBVIOUSLY half finished song in the middle of an album, the fade at the end even makes it feel like an iTunes preview to a full song.
The album as a whole is growing loads thoughh
I have a feeling there will be Birthday Cake Part 2
You Da One - 8

It pains me that there isn't a complete version of Birthday Cake.
Birthday Cake >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The rest of the entire album.
I quite agree.
I concur. And need the full version NOW.
Ugh all of her old albums seem better than this (maybe miss out Music Of The Sun and A Girl Like Me), this album seems very manufactred, maybe like the second half of Good Girl Gone Bad (1st Edition). The sounds are different on this album but i'm not to into it, especially We Found Love!
What do you think?
Its tough to see Rihanna getting any great singles off this album after 'We Found Love'. She needs a break. Get in the studio and come back in 2013 ready to destroy the competition
Got this for Christmas.
So far my favourites are 'Where Have You Been', 'Do Ya Thang' and 'Drunk On Love'.

@rihanna
Rihanna
I promised! 1st on the agenda '12 #CAKE RT @RihannaDaily: @rihanna RiRi, when are we getting the full version of "Birthday Cake"?
WAHEYYY
As long as it's not Talk That Talk, if it is I will CUT SOMEONE. It's just as horrifically overrated as WFL except not as good
Ok, Rih just confirmed 'Roc Me Out' isn't the next single.
Well I'm not too sure they'll go with "Talk That Talk", the current urban single "You Da One" isn't doing amazing.
Thank GOD. 'Roc Me Out' is a poor man's 'Rude Boy'. At least 'Talk That Talk' brings something new to the table .... still any decision bar 'Where Have You Been' being a single is a completely stupid one!
please. no. not that. it's probably my least favourite on the album now, I can't get past jay-z's horrific rap on it. the chorus is good, but the rest is pretty meh.
my unreleased favourites on the album probably wouldn't make good choices for singles though. 'roc me out', while epic, is pretty much 'rude boy' mk.2, 'drunk on love' wouldn't really work and 'farewell' would probably be better on later in the year. so I'd go with the obvious 'where have you been' for the next single which is growing me at an incredibly fast rate.
I've heard WHYB four times on the radio in the past week. I NEED a video!!
she´s currently producing a video "Your da one"
so.. i guess there´s a single/video combination?
Right, I haven't got around to buying this album yet so I'm going to listen to it on Youtube and then rate the tracks.
You Da One - 6/10. It's a nice sweet happy little song, but, my god, it's SO annoying. Ruined further by her grabbing her crotch every 5 seconds in the video. This song had potential but it just wasn't marketed that well. It could have done well around Valentines time. It also looks like it might become her lowest peaking second single ever as well.
Where Have You Been - 10/10. One of the best things on this album and the energy the track has is amazing. I think this really needs to be a single...
We Found Love - 10/10. IMO, one of the best things she's ever recorded. Yes, there is a lot of "We found love in a hopeless place" but I don't really notice it too much and so it doesn't annoy me. Being so big, it's kinda acting like a bit of a curse though and overshadowing the next single.
Talk That Talk - 9/10. Another great track. It's difficult to describe but the song just works, well...
Cockiness (Love It) - 1/10. One of the worst songs by Rihanna, or anyone for that matter, I've ever heard. Completely unlistenable.
Birthday Cake - 0/10. Just why would you include a half finished song on Rihanna's sixth album. They shouldn't be able to get away with it. It just sort of fades out when she's singing. What a mess. I know there's now a full version out there but people have paid to listen to a half finished song.
We All Want Love - 6/10. A little dull but not unpleasant. It kind of reminds me of an inferior version of Say Hello To Goodbye by Shontelle.
Drunk On Love - 8/10. I also really like this one, for the sample and Te Amo feeling and she actually sings like she means it!
Roc Me Out - 8/10. This one's quite good and fun without being annoying.
Watch n’ Learn - 6/10. It's alright but a bit dull and forgettable.
Farewell - 8/10. Much better than We All Want Love from the slow songs album.
Seems a bit of an extreme album. I'm usually quite open minded when it comes to albums but I'm surprised how strongly I feel about some tracks.
If I end up getting the album, I'll probably go for the Deluxe one, in the hope there'll be a few more tracks that stand out to me. This album isn't weak by any means. Despite We Found Love, I really hope her management don't mess it up for her this era.
Roc Me Out would be a step back, I hope she doesn't inflict it on the world. Such a depressingly boring 'banger'. Talk That Talk doesn't have a strong enough chorus to be a big hit either, although it's a better song than Roc Me Out... she really just needs to go with Where Have You Been and then end the campaign right there and take a break.
Except it's completely tepid and tame compared with Hard and has none of the feel-good charm of Rude Boy. Flat, recycled beats + boring vocals = non-event of a song.
Do Ya Thing would be marvelous I'd say.
WE ALL WANT THAT... CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, ETC.
Complete it and make it the fourth single, just in time for Spring.
Where Have You Been? is the best choice for the next single but it needs a remix. It has potential but its a bit sonically weak.
every song on the album apart from TTT is growing on me a whole lot now. I'm hooked on 'watch 'n' learn' in particular, which was my inital least favourite!
She's finishing "Birthday Cake".
'Farewell' as a single next, please. I think it could have similar success to 'California King Bed'.
What? You mean a middling hit here in the UK and a massive flop over in the US? But I think 'Farewell' would do what 'Fire Bomb' shoulda and coulda done! I'm still bitter at that not getting released
US aside, I think it did ok for a fourth single which is probably what 'Farewell' would be.
'We Found Love', the title track and 'Where Have You Been' are the only three singles on this album really. They should've just had those in mind and forget the rest ever happened.
I agree, TTT is far from my fave but along with WHYB it's really the only option. I really like Cockiness, Farewell, Watch N Learn and Drunk On Love too but they wouldn't work. Maybe Roc Me Out as a final single after WHYB if all goes well but she's a bit limited, which points to an inevitable re-release
I'm thinking it will surface on her birthday
Although I'm glad she's finishing it and we'll get to hear Birthday Cake in full, I'm still quite annoyed it wasn't finished for the album in the first place.
Without caring enough to find the appropriate topic I wanted to state that Talk That Talk (single) is epic. That's all really.
Heard 'Cockiness (Love It)' out last night. Sounds amazing in a club.
If they do have to push for a 5th single after Talk That Talk and Where Have You Been, I do think 'Cockiness (Love It)' would actually be the best choice.
I think Birthday Cake will become fourth/fifth single. She has suggested it on Twitter and has asked about who we would like to feature on it. I've seen a few articles saying Christina Aguilera.
Whether Birthday Cake is fourth or fifth the other will be Where Have You Been.
After that I hope she takes at least a year's break because people will get bored of her if she is constantly releasing music and videos.
I think she also said on Twitter that she wanted a male artist to be on 'Birthday Cake'. I think Drake would be most likely.
Not Drake, please. I've had enough of them two. Anytime I hear of them doing a collab, I thnk of all the dirty things they'd get up to in the studio
Perhaps Tinie Tempah?
I actually don't think this album's that weak. There aren't a lot of stand out singles, bar 'We Found Love' and 'Where Have You Been' but Talk That Talk and Roc Me Out could work as singles if they have good music videos (Roc Me Out reminds me of her work from early eras but that's not a bad thing.) Drunk On Love may work at a push but all these tracks plus farewell are good, and I haven't got the album, nor have I listened to it a lot.
We'll see if she can recover after YDO with TTT. I think it might do moderately better and it is single material, but it's not a smash so I really can't call it!
I think 'Talk That Talk' does sound like a smash, but 'You Da One' may have crippled this era for her now.
Seriously, just why did they release that? I can't get my head around it.
I still think 'Talk That Talk' and 'Where Have You Been' will be hits, radio will still play her alot, she just needs to get them both out there asap.
I think it's a great album...
I can't see "talk that talk" doing much better than "you da one". I don't really like either of them and its strange they have gone with two urban songs in a row. I thought we might get a more upbeat track as the third single. I'm still preying for where have you been to be released. Maybe this will be the 4th single. I dont think this album is selling as quickly as the last one did in the same time frame.
Where Have You Been will be huge when released, 100%! A massive hit waiting to happen.
Love this more than Rated R
I'm so confused with what's going on this era now! I thought Talk That Talk was the 3rd single as it has been playlisted by radio stations, but Where Have You Been is apparently now the 3rd international single but the remix of Birthday Cake has also been released in some places. So what single are we getting? This reminds me of how badly the singles from Rated R were managed, and this era started so well with We Found Love.
I think she had two best routes for this album in relation to how the album sounds
We Found Love
Talk That Talk
Where Have You Been
You Da One (I think this because it would have been summer and wouldn't sound so bad being compared to WFL all the time)
or something like
We Found Love
Roc Me Out
Drunk On Love
Where Have You Been
Talk That Talk was scrapped and where have you been is the 3rd single internationally
Do we know why it's been scrapped bearing in mind it's getting good radio support over here?
It is true. She didnt even shoot a Talk That Talk Music video. She is moving on to Where Have You Been. Its a smart move. I am hearing Where Have you been in all the clubs at the Moment. Its going to be massive
It doesn't make much sense though considering her Twitter page is promoting Talk That Talk and she performed Talk That Talk on Jonathan Ross. I'd rather they don't scrap Talk That Talk, I think it could be a moderate hit after a video release, and then 'Where Have You Been' would smash in summer.
Even if She had of Made a Video for Talk That Talk i couldnt see it being massive. She just needs to get The Where Have You Been Video out as soon as Possible and hopefully it starts getting airplay soon.
It's a shame they're dropping 'Talk That Talk', really wanted a video for that. Though 'Where Have You Been' is the obvious smash left on the album, so I can understand why they're moving on.
She in real nice rihanna
i really want roc me out to be next single. it will go top 10 for sure
If anyone hasnt bought it yet, it is only £3.99 on iTunes in the UK right now! (The deluxe edition too) If anyone wants it cheap while they can get it
now this is just silly. WFL and WHYB are among her best songs of the entire career
Tbh this entire era for me is my least favourite of hers aside for her first two.
She released two really solid, really different campaigns with Rated R and Loud.
But this just didn’t have the same kind of appeal for me and it was a bit like a step backwards.
There’s stuff on the album I love (like Drunk on Love is one of my fave non singles she’s ever done and Farewell is pretty solid too) but on the whole she’s done way better.
Drunk On Love from this album just come on shuffle and holy s***
I think I’ll give this full album a spin tomorrow now! It’s the era of hers I revisit the least tbh other than her first album so I think I’ll be almost hearing with fresh ears!
It’s actually such a good album. You Da One (possibly her worst single choice EVER? following up WFL with...that I mean it’s fine but meh) and Farewell let it down for me but otherwise it’s much better than I used to give it credit for. Roc Me Out is my fave album track
I was legit just gonna day after I’ve listened to this all the way through today. You Da One as a single is like WHY!!
I can see why Where Have You Been wasn’t the direct follow up given it was another Calvin produced track but You Da One is amongst the worst things she’s ever done for me singles wise. I think the title track could’ve been a bigger hit has it been on ANTI it’s sound is quite streaming friendly as opposed to the paid for sales climate when it was released. I’d say Cockiness fits into that description too.
Drunk on Love deserved single treatment though a huge missed opportunity! I also love We All Want Love bit feel some on here might think it’s MOR I hope I’m wrong at that though it’s a lovely track and she sounds great on it vocally.
I kinda think generally speaking though this is the era of hers what most feels like a rushed campaign. Unapologetic gets those critiques more but that’s a lot better as a body of work and has more of a flow and introspective feel than this. I’ll post my ranking of this later but possibly thinking of making this into a survivor once the Rated R one has concluded.
We Found Love was released 10 years ago today
I'm feeling very 👴🏻 about this! What a song.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-58662388 I forgot about this We Found Love video shoot controversy!
This song/video really doesn't feel like 10 years ago
Not really feeling WFL these days. It's still great but the anthemic side was sooooo attached to my life back then and that's just not there any more.
Drunk in Love is one of her best album tracks
Where Have You Been going viral on TikTok as people are trying to recreate the Just Dance moves
Or maybe it's just me
