I think as far as ' Rudebox ' is concerned it's done & dusted & on to the next thing. Mr RW is not known for sitting on his laurels .

With the attitude towards Rob at the moment, I don't think any promotion he'd do would help Rudebox at this point and instead just be seen as a desperate attempt at resuscitating something that was dead on arrival in many people's eyes. I just think he should leave it be and move on which as Tessa says that's what Rob does and I hope he does it here. If Lovelight didn't do anything, I can't see She's Madonna, especially paired with the video, making any dents whatsoever.

I tend to agree. I think the album is dead as a dodo. In the UK anyway. The press is so against him at the mo. dry.gif

Well, obviousy SM will make some sort of a difference once it' starts getting played on the tv. It may not be a big difference but it still needs releasing. Perhaps he should consider performing at the Echo Awards in Germany laugh.gif

Maybe he should go on Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes or something. He could be Judy Garland. happy.gif

Funny thing is I actually love this album & in my eyes it has not been a failure but I think its gone as far as it can ( especially in the UK ) but I am hoping that the sales of the album may continue elsewhere for sometime yet. Its a really beautiful album & its one that I am not getting fed up of. - Its still selling quite a bit each week according to the Global Track Charts. I hope that Shes Madonna may improve its sales in Europe as its a great track & I also happen to love the video ( but that's my weird taste for you ).
I cannot see Robbie spending too much time worrying about it . Like most Artists he will more that likely move on to the next thing & if the album was borne out of messing about as he has said , then I think he has got a pretty good result. Afterall he got some great reviews from the top music mags ( ignore the idiots at the press who were only out to personally get him ).

So come its onward we go .................. yahoo.gif yahoo.gif yahoo.gif yahoo.gif

Oh I agree, I think its one of Rob's best albums and I absolutely love it and have been playing it since it was released and I'm not tired of it yet. I haven't seen it as a flop either, how many flops reach number 1 ?! But I was referring to some of the press seeing Rudebox as a dud and the attitude towards Rob at the moment is not positive to say the least which is why I think he should just leave it be and even promotion at this point don't think would help. I couldn't care less about sales and chart positions, I absolutely adore Rudebox.

Rudbox Worldwide Sales: Nearly 3 Million

The sales are too high to be true. There's no way Rudbox sales are almost 3 mil. I'd be suprised if its even 2 mil, not to say about 3mil.

it did go to No.1 in fourteen countries locott.

Unfortunately we never read stuff like that in the lousy UK press. Rudebox has also picked up 3 plantinum awards in Germany and 2 in Australia and I am sure it has picked up awards in other countries too.

Not Robbie's biggest seller, and approx 3 million is still quite low for Robbie. I hope it will be one of those albums that sells slowly through time and then suddenly takes off again for whatever reason.

Nope. It was made official by music week that in the two months it was released in 2006 alone it did 2.8m copies globally. thumbup.gif

The album has underperformed in the UK, however Robbie is far far bigger outside the UK than in it these days. #1 in 14 countries and the album did'nt have any promotion whatsoever. Don't be fooled by the pathetic negetivivty of the British press. They would'nt dream of printing anything about Rob unless it was slagging him off which is why people rarely hear about how huge he is worldwide. sad.gif

Btw, if you include all sales of Rob's albums, singles + dvd's then you get almost 70M. If he include TT sales from when he was in the band, between 25-30M. So nearly 100m laugh.gif

Wow, this is brilliant info Steveyy. I have always wanted to know his singles sales in Germany biggrin.gif

Where did you get them? on the German IFPI site only two of his singles are certified which is annoying. It's great to have all his sales though. 7.6m singles between The UK and Germany alone so he must've sold more than 15m singls in total. Somewhere between 15-20m definatly biggrin.gif

Hey Stevvy, I was wondering how much Swing sold in Germany. On the IFPI.DE site it was awarded 4x platinum in 2002. I have read on ukmix that before the very end of 2002, platinum was 300,000 and Gold was 150,000, so that would mean that it had shipped 1.2m as of 5 years ago? ohmy.gif Seems a bit too high, but that is what it seems. unsure.gif

this is so amazing. Hopefully ppl realise how great and talented he is and will buy his next album again (especially in UK, France and Australia, where rudebox did extremely worse for his standards).
