I recken it is basically all up to Rob wether or not he wants massive sales again or to continue releasing less commercial material such as Rudebox but actually love making it. All he has to do is make an album like IC or along those pop/rock lines, and actually promote it, and he will have massive sales yet again. Or even Swing, his last Swing album sold near 7 million. Who would'nt though Swing could sell so much.

 And if you add in the copies of the Ego Has Landed that were shipped to the UK, then he could be past 41m now. There were quite a few shipped over I think, especially in Tower Records. I always see loads of them despite it only being released in the American and Oceana

I was watching Britains Rich List tonight where Rob was the youngest rock star mentioned.....they made some interesting comments oustide of mentioning Rob... They said that in general this year physical Album sales were down to to downloading & nusic being free on the net, Young musicians would never again be given the type of deals that were available to artists some years back ( Rob would be one of them ).... they also said that the high earners had been around for years such as The Rolling Stones, & had made their money over many years, the same as Rob & that it takes many many years of touring to make that kind of money. I believe that Tim Clark & David Enthoven & Rob know exactly what they are doing & they recognise that album sales are now only part of the total package & that the day of high album sales are disappearing hence all the other advertising campaigns that Rob is involved in & collaborations. TT's album was pretty unique in what it sold this year in the UK but that has to be put down to the nostalgia factor... if Rob has beenaway for ten years & came back we would all be running out to buy his album. |

Some good news about IC. It re-entered the chart at #169 two weeks ago, and has climbed to #120 this week. Another album on it's way to 2m, hopefully one day it will. No-one in music history has had as many 2m+ selling albums, he has 6 of them, so it will hopefully be 7 one day.
 Also the Greatest Hits re-entered at #155. Still selling well, Thanks to Holly at trws and Haven |

I could not believe it either....how many has IC sold world wide...it's a great album though & Stephen Duffy must be thrilled.....
It's also amazing how GH just keeps selling & selling.......  13:8:2007 BPI - Global success for homegrown talent, as UK acts claim one in five artist album sales in Germany and one in ten in France - Share of Anglo-American music market in Germany increases for third straight year - UK record industry sells 27 million albums in Germany and France in 2006 New figures released today by UK recorded music industry association the BPI show that the UK's share of the German and French recorded music markets hit a four-year high in 2006. Germany and France are the world's fourth and fifth largest markets for recorded music, together accounting for 13% of world sales. Global hit albums from James Blunt, Katie Melua and Robbie Williams helped boost the UK's share of these markets to 19.9% and 10.7% respectively - the highest in each market for four years. Germany The UK's share of the German albums market increased by more than five percentage points on 2005 to 19.9%, and with 21.2 million album sales the UK's share of the Anglo-American market grew for a third consecutive year. The figures, supplied by Media Control GfK International, show that the UK claimed a 44.8% share of the Anglo-American market - an increase on 2005's tally of 44.4% and 2004's tally of 37.2%. UK artists with well-established German fanbases achieved particularly strong sales with Coldplay and Depeche Mode also among the year's best sellers, but debuts from Corinne Bailey Rae and James Morrison also featured in the German top 100. Katie Melua’s second album Piece By Piece was the best selling UK album of the year and the second best selling record in Germany overall. In total, twenty three of the top-100 albums were by UK artists, who also claimed a 20.3% share of total German airplay audience according to figures from Nielsen Music Control. France The UK's share of the French market increased for a second successive year, claiming 10.7% of the market, according to BPI analysis of the top-selling 250 albums. More than one in ten albums sold in France are now by UK acts, a strong proportion in what is Europe's second strongest market for domestic repertoire after Russia. James Blunt's global hit Back to Bedlam was the biggest selling UK title in 2006, but Robbie Williams remains one of France's most popular artists with three titles in the UK artists’ top 20. UK artists also claimed a 12.4% share of the total airplay audience in 2006 As UK artists account for more than half of all albums sold in the UK, and one in 12 albums sold in the US - the largest market for recorded music in the world with one third of all sales - UK music continues to perform well in a challenging retail environment and in international markets increasingly dominated by domestic repertoire. "Music is one of the UK's great cultural and economic exports" said BPI Chief Executive Geoff Taylor. I have updated the first page of this thread to make it look more impressive, and included full chart runs, , known chart positions of each single is various countries, estimates for worldwide sales of each single and album, and a list of Robbie's achievments
The global singles sales are only estimates, some may be alot higher, and some may be too high (like Feel's 4m, but since loads of articles have said it has sold 4m then I will agree)

Rob has definatly sold over 70 million records now. I always wonder why the official site don't have a Biography on it, I mean surely that would be one of the first things they should've added.

At my Daughtry forum girls were talking about how Daughtry is now touring with Bon Jovi but that others dont like it! ONe girl says that she thought it was fantastic since Bon Jovi was the hottest ticket in 2006 and out sold every concert!!  So i was thinking....I dont think so!!! From what I know Bon Jovi's Have A Nice Day Tour was actually spanned over 2005/06 and he played infront of just over 2 million people, and the tour grossed a total of $131 million.
But Robbie's Close Encounters Tour only spanned from April to December 2006 and in total he played to over 3.5 million people, grossing over $340 million. Also he broke the record for ticket sales, selling 1.6 million tickets in one day. So I think its safe to say that Robbie's tour was indeed bigger than Bon Jovi's |
