You're too young.
John Kettley was a weatherman for the BBC. He later did some general presenting. The record by Tribe of Toffs was released at the end of 1988 and wasquite successful. |

i think they wont view it as a flop, probably more relieved its not gone stella, if the operation is a bedroom operation. probably happy to go back to the folky circuit.

Nizlopi are set to become one hit wonders. Their new single 'Girls' is out this week and has seemingly had very little promotion. The song itself is ok though quite forgetful and I can see it struggling for top 15 if not top 20. Something I found very interesting is that when the 'JCB SONG' was released and was a massive hit, how the album failed to get top 40. That to me was proof that the public were only interested in the song and not the band. If it made Top 20 the term one hit wonder would not be valid. For Nizlopi to become a one hit wonder GIRLS would have to not make the Top 75. Anything inside the Top 75 is an official hit - no matter how small. |

Anything inside the Top 75 is an official hit - no matter how small. I know what a one hit wonder is although, it is still possible for ppl to become one hit wonders without failing to reach the top 75. Over the years there have been many one hit wonders who have had a huge hit followed up by songs that only just scrape the top 25. Also davinza80, no there was barely any promotion or airplay whatsoever. I have only ever seen the video for it once. I at first didn't believe it was being released this week due to the distinct lack of promotion however, I saw their website which confirmed it was being released this week. Due to them being on a very small label I doubt there is any chance of them being dropped however, I doubt we'll ever see them in the top 40 again. |

Ah, but this single is in my local HMV with plenty copies...if it was a truly small release then it wouldn't be in the new releases section - there'd be a single copy in the racks like the ace new Fratellis EP. So, it looks like there will be a large number of unsold copies...therefore, it will be a massive flop.
It's their last chance as their next release will be very low profile as I shouldn't think FDM will be able to afford another release like this one...well, depends how well JCB keeps selling. |

JCB Song was only successful because of the vid imo. The vid for this is forgettable, I can't remember it for one.

Their next release may just be made downloadable though ncq due to this embarrasingly huge flop. Someone in this topic earlier said that the JCB song was only a huge hit due to the cartoon, gimick video and had nothing to do with ppl being interested in Nizlopi as a group. Also 'rob' you say it is 9th in woolies(!) goodness me! How inacurate that chart must be! |

Shame, but it didn't have any airplay or even a video on the music channels did it?

HA! Serves them right. Not heard this but they deserve to flop for inflicting that awful 'JCB Song' on me and almost damaging my ears.
Did the album even make the top 75? |
