Hello everyone and thanks to those who have taken part in the game over the past two months or so, I shall do a more detailed post on this later on.

You may be wondering why this is starting so early, especially as the play-off round does not close until tomorrow evening. Thisispop always used to count down the whole top 200 over one bank holiday weekend, but I don't really have the patience to do it all so quickly, especially as I want it to be more detailed and discussion generating, so I hope you don't mind me starting it this early and drawing the process out over a fortnight or so.

The schedule is as follows.....

The play-off round closes tomorrow evening and the final will be posted immediately after and will be open for exactly one week, until next Tuesday evening. I am away over the forthcoming weekend so won't be able to post any results then, so aim to post 20 songs a day each day this week as well as next Monday and Tuesday, which will mean I can start posting the results of the final as soon as it closes.

Positions 200-101 are decided by which songs which didn't make the playoff round had the highest average score for every voter from that round (e.g. if 40 people voted in the 2010 round a song and it got 120 points its average would be exactly 3), positions 100-61 based upon the forty songs which failed to qualify from the playoff round, I hope that there will be an equal number of votes in each but I doubt it so it will be done on averages again. The top 60 will be the 60 songs from the final in the order which they finished based on the number of points they received. Any ties are split on the basis of how well a song did in the previous round (so two songs tied in the final, whoever finished higher up the play-off or the yearly rounds is placed highest).

I hope that covers everything, so sit back and enjoy! biggrin.gif

200 - 121 Emma Bunton 'What Took You So Long?' (119-X-79-X-121-200)
UK #1

199 - RE Christina Aguilera 'The Voice Within' (X-X-182-188-X-199)
UK #9

Kicking us off is former Spice Girl Emma Bunton who stops her run of being in the top 200 one year and out the next, but only just, a 79 place fall putting her right at the bottom. The first of five Christina Aguilera songs is a re-entry, The Voice Within making its third appearance in the final countdown, spending each of those three years in the bottom 20.

198 - NE Shapeshifters 'Lola's Theme' (198)
UK #1

197 - NE Missy Elliott 'Lose Control' (197)
UK #7

Two songs here both making their first appearances in the top 200 despite being eligible in each of the previous five years the competition has been running for. Lola's Theme was a number one seven years ago for the Shapeshifters, who had five more top 75 hits over the following three years but nothing which came close to matching its success. Featuring vocals from both Ciara and Fatman Scoop, 'Lose Control' was the last time Missy had any success as a lead artist here, with her only getting one more top 40 hit (#38) since.

I'm surprised 'Lola's Theme' had never entered before this year - I would have thought it was "very Buzzjack" in terms of its genre. I'm not a big fan of 'The Voice Within' - Christina has far better ballads - and I do quite like 'Lose Control' and 'What Took You So Long?'

196 - NE The Temper Trap 'Sweet Disposition' (196)
UK #6

195 - 128 Black Eyed Peas 'Where Is The Love' (53-X-82-147-128-195)
UK #1

A new entry for The Temper Trap, one of many songs over the years to have gained in popularity after appearing in a TV advert campaign, this time for Sky Sports advert for the new football season, it took until its 10th week on the chart to peak and spent a further 23 weeks in the top 75. As the voter base this year seemed to be slightly more alternative leaning than previously, it's one of a host of new entries by an indie act.

One act who have had a large fall from grace are the Black Eyed Peas. Last year they had six entries in the top 200 including a couple inside the top 100, but this year all apart from one fall out, and Where Is The Love? only just manages to stay in. Have their recent singles put us off the band that much?

194 - 132 Pussycat Dolls ft. Busta Rhymes 'Don’t Cha' (144-99-X-X-132-194)
UK #1

193 - RE Alicia Keys 'No One' (133-119-X-193)
UK #6

The Pussycat Dolls continue the pattern so far of each pairing having one UK number one in it, as Don't Cha tumbles 62 places. They're an act I've always thought would be more liked on BuzzJack but the only other song they've ever had in here is the collaboration with A.R. Rahman Jai Ho which falls out this year. Nicole's solo effort last year fell just short of the top 200. Alicia Keys re-enters this year after a year out, No One being the first of her three entries this year.

Then I shall direct you to the first post.

Positions 200-101 were decided when the yearly rounds finished last Wednesday, so it's not as if I really have to wait. Doing it this way I can get the whole thing over reasonably quickly (approx. 13 days with a 2 day break), but not so quick that it would be in any way rushed, and I can start to count down the final votes as soon as it finishes, rather than having to get through 140 other songs first.

192 - NE Adele 'Hometown Glory' (192)
UK #32

191 - NE Kelly Rowland ft. David Guetta 'Commander' (191)
UK #9

Two more new entries here, Adele makes her first ever appearance in the top 200 with Hometown Glory. I have to say I thought the success of 21 would've led to her being more represented in this game, and whilst this did climb into the top 200 for the first time, none of the other three singles from 19 were nominated.

Kelly Rowland was last year one of three Kelly's to feature in the top 200, but with Osbourne falling out she is joined by only Clarkson again. Featuring David Guetta this was role reversal of When Love Takes Over one year previous and it was Kelly's turn to be lead artist. It was neither as big in the official chart or here but still performs reasonably in both. It was the 18th best song of last year according to this game, and the first of 2010 to make a top 200 appearance.

Ah, I only really glossed over the first post so I must have missed that bit completely.

That explains it then, I thought I'd done a reasonable job of explaining in the opening post so assumed you were taking the piss!

190 - RE Rachel Stevens 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' (173-138-X-110-X-190)
UK #2

189 - RE Nelly Furtado 'Try' (110-158-133-X-189)
UK #15

Two re-entries here and rather oddly they have the same Record of the Decade peak, of 110th. Sweet Dreams My LA Ex was Rachel Stevens first of five top 10 hits as a solo artist and is back here for a fourth time and remains the only one of her songs to have made the top 200. Nelly Furtado's 2004 hit also re-enters after a year out and is the first of five entries for her, two more than last year!

188 - RE Avril Lavigne 'Complicated' (100-X-X-X-X-188)
UK #3

187 - 184 Dannii Minogue 'You Won't Forget About Me' (144-184-187)
UK #7

After a four year absence Avril Lavigne finally returns to the top 200 with Complicated, but is still some way from getting back towards the top 100 again. She's another who I expected to have been better represented on this over the years and did have two entries last year but they've both fallen out, I'm With You after four years in the top 200.

The other Minogue is also up as 2004s You Wont Forget About Me falls slightly in its third year inside the top 200, she still has one more entry to come of course, and you can still vote for it in the playoff round at the moment!

So we lose Song 4 Mutya and Destiny and gain Emma Bunton and an oversung and tired Christina ballad sad.gif

The Voice Within is okay. It is indeed disappointing though that some brilliant, classic songs (especially Bedshaped, Family Affair, Bohemian Like You, My Immortal, Breathe, and probably others I missed scanning the list) have dropped out yet this fairly run-of-the-mill ballad (and the worst single from the Stripped era) remains.

My favourite so far is Lola's Theme and I agree with THEO.'s surprise at it not entering before this year. Just superbly uplifting and a brilliant pop hook. They don't make dance tunes like that anymore, that's for sure. Sad sad.gif

What's with the continuing popularity of that Dannii track on here? Not that I hate it but still...
