Will Young, hung by the chimney with care...

Will Young is doing a little advent calendar thingy, complete with a horrible Christmas sweater (he seems prone to crushingly bad sweaters, especially in his TV series, Bedlam). Today's bit is the chance to win Christmas card from Will, which I entered. The contest, not Will himself.

Will Young's Twelve Days Of Christmas

Will has just announced a June 2012 tour of the UK - a forests tour. One would like to see Will in the woods, wouldn't one? No word on a new single. Meanwhile, he is going to place very high in my end of year lists. How high? Stay tuned, willies

Must keep an eye out for the end of the year lists., he's bound to be on a few biggrin.gif

Best of 2011 ~ My top ten (ish) albums...
greetings my fine festive friends. Christmas is nearly upon me (ooer) and the end of the year (not days as I accidentally texted my mom sending her into a mass panic) is nigh! The lovely people at vouchercodes.co.uk asked me to put together a list of my favourite albums of the year. They did ask me to limit it to ten, but you know how waffly I am so I couldn't pin it down to just ten. So here are my top ten-ish albums that delighted me consistently in 2011... Let me know yours!!

NINE TO TWO...

07 ~ WILLIAM YOUNG, ECHOES
In the 10 years since Will took to the stage of Pop Idol to audition, he’s managed to blossom into a fine, credible artist with a sustainable career. His latest collection of tunes infuses his established signature sound and vocals with elements of dance floor eleganza added to the songs. The single Jealousy is an excellent example of this and rewarded Will with his biggest hit for several years. There are teardrops on the disco floor as he embraces the influence of producer Richard X, but of course his ballads are appropriately devastating and heartbreaking both lyrically and in the way he delivers each crushing word. A beautiful, heartfelt, nuanced and sincere collection from Britain’s still premiere Pop Idol…

I think Mr Popjustice has more of a hump over Will not getting the Voice role than Will himself. laugh.gif

WILL YOUNG WANTS TO CHALLENGE HIMSELF

Will Young's ready for something completely different.

Friday December 16,2011

By Lizzie Catt with Lisa Higgins and Jack Teague

IT sounds like we’ll be seeing a whole new side to Will Young next year as the singer challenges himself to make a classical album.
The pop star admits he’s easily bored and after fulfilling a dream to make an electric album – his recent offering Echoes – he’s ready for something completely different.
“I’m not very good at sticking with one thing. I want to do a classical album,” the 32-year-old says.
“It’s all about the singing and the challenge to sing in counter-tenor, which is really hard. It’s not that Popstar To Operastar kind of thing – it will be a different vibe.”

It seems to be the style he's used for Somewhere Over The Rainbow on tour, and also one of the videos where he was rehearsing with the new band, think it was Grace back in 2008. I think that'll be an acquired taste Will, maybe better for the shower! laugh.gif

QUOTE
Will Young wants to ''challenge'' himself by making a classical album

The 'Come On' hitmaker is looking forward to "challenging" himself by taking his career in a different musical direction with his next record.

He said: "I'm not very good at sticking with one thing and now I've done the challenge of an electronic album and now I want to do a classical album.

"It's all about the singing and the challenge to sing in counter-tenor, which is really hard. It's not that 'Popstar to Operastar' kind of thing, it'll be a different vibe."

Will explored a new musical direction on his most recent album, 'Echoes', and says creating a more electronic and dance music record was something he had wanted to do for a long time.

He explained: "I was working with Groove Armada years ago on songs that were never fitting on any of my records, because they were their own records really. Then I kept on moaning to friends and boyfriends going, 'I just want to do this kind of record' and the were like, 'Well just f***ing do it then' so I did it."

While he is happy with the album, the 'Jealousy' singer initially had no idea if his fans would like it.

He added: "One makes records sort of in naivety and if it does well, when it goes to number one and it's gone platinum and everything, you think, 'Thank god that's gone well, what was I thinking?'

"I don't think you should be thinking of people, the audience, too much because otherwise you don't do something honest."

I keep thinking surely his record label wouldn't finance such a project, would they?

Maybe this is one of hie ideas that needs reining in! laugh.gif
