If only the ties were split by the number of votes! I'd be 2 places higher, since I never even got a score higher than 7, except once or twice. I shall do this at some point for overall stats purposes but it won't be this weekend. Should be able to on Monday evening I'd have thought. |

I think we need an Unknown Pleasures sub forum just to hold old threads once they have been unpinned. Anyone know how to do this? A gmod/admin will have to do it as you need access to the 'hub' of the board. It's really easy to do though so I'm sure they'll sort it if you ask in the mod section. |

Yes, someone should gather all UP editions in a special section.

Surprised by Nova winning. It didn't click with me at all but I'm obviously missing something. Fitzpleasure 4eva Tried getting someone to come see them with me but failed. Unknown pleasure indeed..

Joint last - I didn't see that coming. I honestly thought that Petter Seander was the strongest song I've sent to the contest in some time - evidently not.
I did love the remix of Bubble Sex, although I guess it's because it's remixed by The Twelves, who were also responsible for the single mix of French Horn Rebellion's 'Beaches and Friends', which was my no.1 song of 2010. |

I have to say that I didn't see it coming either, I thought it was going to at least finish in the top half and was about 12th in my standings. |

So Chad Valley should be 5th. I'm also incredibly disappointed at Pavel for not picking up on this. Tsk. Either way, I'm glad I did so well! My best since Pictureplane's win, I believe. I voted for #4 and #6-11, so I'm also pleased with how the rest of the results fell. The winner sounded like Mumford & Sons doing vocals to some europop BJSC 'anthem' though. It was OKAY okay? You know I still can't believe that Tony genuinely liked that Rustie song. I only noticed Rustie got sent when I voted for the "best of 2011" UP. I could've discovered it a full month earlier had a participated! Rustie is fantastic. I can't that Tony sent it though, ha! |

I believe my track suffered from being stuck in a deathly tracklisting position (that or it just isn't as good of a song as I suspect, okay this is the reason tbh)

WOW! This is incredible! First I actually managed to win BJSC for the first time ever since I made my debut in 2009, and just after that I win in Unknown Pleasures (which I thought I'd never do!) so I am quite surprised about this! Glad too, as it seems many of you made a great discovery in 'Nova'
Congratulations Freeze, weve swapped contests!!! It really amused me when I was counting everything up at just how much of a parallel these results are to those that you had when running BJSC this time. And rest assured folks, Freeze is actually good at getting the results correct so BJSC IX should be a vast improvement! (sorry again Gooddelta but you shall have your rightful third in the end!) I'll type up a correct version of the final table in a few minutes - never using jpgs again! And how amazing isn't this outcome?! I did think to myself and played with the idea while reading the results and it seemed like I was doing very well - that IF I ever won this it would be very amusing and interesting to swap contests like that. And it happened! still trying to digest it, though.. Oh and I thought the results went rather well. That was only one mistake, so nothing to beat yourself up about I liked reading your comments, and it was exciting too! |

ARGH at getting knocked down to 6th at the last minute, but oh well - it's far better than I ever thought I'd do! Congratulations to Freeze, VNV Nation is FLAWLESS, it'd definitely be in contention for my 20 if I were voting now. Thank you! And I'm glad you liked it to that extent. I agree; it most certainly is flawless Congrats to Freeze, how ironic, Freeze gets to host the next UP and Dandy gets to host BJSC next As far as the hosting duties transfer BJSC: Freeze -> Dandy UP: Dandy -> Freeze At the same time. AMAZING. GRATZ, FREEZE! And welcome to the BJSC+UP winners club! It still feels a bit unbelievable, but thanks a lot! Well hosted Dandy, best ever winner without a doubt! Thank you Freeze, my second 20 to you in a row. So I noticed! I should be at the top end of your voting history right about now It's fantastic, as in BJSC you've only given me 4 points but yeah, glad you love it as well |

Thanks for the 20, Freeze! And congrats! Thanks, but thank you too for sending that wonderful song It's a Kaizers Orchestra cover, but still I'm not sure if I've ever heard it before, so I'm glad you sent it! Wow, congratulations Freeze, you won it with an excellent song. Well done Freeze, an AMAZING entry, I gave Freja 20, but it'd definitely get it had I voted now. Wow, congrats Freeze, awesome taste, and I'm pleased I finally got around to giving you the points you deserved in the contest. Oh, and well done to Freeze of course! It narrowly missed my points, I do like it though. Sounds like Editors produced by The Sound of Arrows. Congrats Freeze. VNV Nation 'Nova' was easily the standout track out of all the 34 finalists so I'm definitely happy to see this winning. Huge congrats to Freeze, very on the ball lately How overwhelming! Thank you so much everyone! |

Boring results. Hope this isn't the direction UP is heading in. Besides Fitzpleasure or whateva the top 7 is pretty bland + boring. Most of the exciting songs are at the bottom. I feel like what does well in this contest and what would do well in BJSC are becoming a little too close for comfort for me...
( Chad Valley though) Ford & Lopatin is a side project of Oneohtrix Point Never. Literally great / pop perfection. |

Ha, knew I'd drop out of top ten!
Nova really is glorious and the only truly astounding song in the running. Congrats to Freeze! Thank you D* for hosting! |

The final leaderboard has 3,032 points. 33 voters each giving 93 points is 3069, less the 20 deduction for Casey means there should be 3049 points so 17 have gone missing somewhere. Sorry Dandy* |

TBH I think that overall this has been the blandest competition so far.
Oh and VNV Nation ultimately only got 2 points from me because of this reason. It really reminded me of something like Collective Soul, majorly bland early 90s Christian rockers. There are some things here that are obvious BJSC rejects. But what would the answer be? It was always meant to be a genre-less competition but things like Jessica 6 so obviously belong in BJSC it hurts (and sorry Rich but Freja belongs there as well no matter how well it did here.) |

Sorry Dandy* No worries, I'm intending to check it tomorrow evening to get rid of the ties so we'll see. All 17 are probably Gooddelta's! |

It was always meant to be a genre-less competition but things like Jessica 6 so obviously belong in BJSC it hurts (and sorry Rich but Freja belongs there as well no matter how well it did here.) Why should anything belong anywhere? It's not like Never Stop Coming Back was outrageously out of place in Unknown Pleasures, and a lot of people made a great discovery out of it. I can't say that I was very keen on some of the entries in the top ten either but I wouldn't begrudge them their place here, if it's what somebody wants to introduce to everybody else. I don't think that UP/BJSC should have active genre divides, I find the variety of genres a whole lot more interesting, making both a lot more enjoyable for me. If BJSC were made only pop, and UP was made only indie then I'd have no interest in participating in either personally. The only answer would be banning certain people from Unknown Pleasures, and others from BJSC, or forcing people to enter songs from certain genres but that would be incredibly unfair and restrictive imo. |
