I do think if this album goes wrong for her, I could see her becoming a niche gay icon in the same way Kylie or Madonna now are.

Probably not. At least I hope not, but then the motorbike thing for Born This Way happened...
EDIT: Apparently fake, someone found that picture elsewhere but why would Gaga just add Artpop to a random pic?

 Thank God it's not the cover. She's re-interpreting it. I just hope for a splash of colour on the cover, I'm tired of black and white. |

People are way too harsh on Born This Way. Yeah it has it's filler but cut the crap and you have the best 10 track pop album released in quite some time.
01 Marry The Night 02 Born This Way 03 Government Hooker 04 Judas 05 Americano 06 Scheiße 07 Bloody Mary 08 Heavy Metal Lover 09 Yoü and I 10 The Edge Of Glory It's incredibly strong and how someone cannot see that is beyond me! Compare it to The Fame where, if you remove just 3 of the singles, you're left with an album of piss poor tracks that even Pete Waterman would reject as sub standard. |

Oh and ARTPOP is a great title (caps for you gaga) and it doesn't sound pretentious at all. It's a play on words in the same way so many other artists do with their titles, it's just that gaga has chosen a subject that's actually worth paying homage to.

The filler tracks for me are Black Jesus and Fashion of his Love. The Queen is a highlight of the album, so I'd include it in your list. And musically my life is dead right now. Electric Chapel is the worst on the whole album.
My 10 would probably be... 01 Marry The Night 02 Born This Way 03 Government Hooker 04 Judas 05 Hair 06 Scheisse 07 Bloody Mary 08 Heavy Metal Lover 09 You & I 10 The Edge Of Glory There's not really a track below 7.5/10 on the whole album though to be honest! The Queen is easily the worst, and Hair is just 4 minutes of dull cheese, in my opinion of course.
In hindsight the album should have been; STANDARD 10.0 Scheiße 10.0 Heavy Metal Lover 10.0 Marry The Night 09.5 Bloody Mary 09.0 Born This Way 09.0 Judas 08.5 Government Hooker 08.5 Yoü and I 08.5 The Edge of Glory 08.5 Americano - DELUXE 07.5 Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) 07.5 Bad Kids 07.0 Black Jesus † Amen Fashion 06.0 Electric Chapel - BIN 05.0 Hair 05.0 Fashion of His Love 02.0 The Queen Three 10/10 moments for me, and despite a few awful tracks, and not the right single choice's it was still easily the best pop album of 2011. I just hope ARTPOP will be to a similar standard, if not better. |
