Maybe this has been covered elsewhere, but I thought I'd ask anyway...

Every so often the music TV channels have video rundowns of best-sellers (with sales) in various categories - does anyone keep a note of these already?

There was a recent one 'Girls of the 21st C - Top 100' which I only saw a small part of, alas. However it is due to be repeated on 13/3 on the Magic Channel apparently. smile.gif The point is, I can mine such shows for sales (provided I can work out what point the sales figures quoted apply to)! The above seems to cover up to 9/2/13, judging by the figure for Diamonds.

Maybe there's already a thread for these - if so I would appreciate a pointer...

I can assume the deafening silence means no-one else collates this info, then?

Hi VC! Funny you should mention those - I often browse Haven forum and guys there seem to post a lot of those lists taken from charts on the music channels and I've often wondered why they never appear here too, as a lot of the other threads are similar across the two forums. But you post your YTD info on Haven anyway so you probably already know all this! Just thought I'd mention it, though!

Must admit I don't do much on Haven other than post/respond my YTD thread - it tend to be too quiet there.

I saw that Gabrielle - Rise had sold 400k, which was pretty good for the early 00s.

I saw this too. It was a mistake however as "Umbrella" should've been in its place instead.

Ah, I thought that figure for RTT was too high. I'd just switched channels and it didn't really cross my mind that it should have been 'Umbrella' instead. Funnily enough 'What's My Name?' was on next. laugh.gif

Bump.

A thread has just been posted on Haven iro this countdown, giving the full T100 :

http://fatherandy2.proboards.com/thread/77...ls-21st-century

MAGIC TV Channel The Official Sales 100: Girls of the 21st Century

The chart is compiled by Official Charts Company and comprises the biggest selling UK singles released by girls solo, as lead artist or in groups. By my reckoning this represents chart dates 15th January 2000 to 9th February 2013.

There are (at least) two mistakes - No. 23 Run This Town was included and Umbrella by Rihanna feat. Jay-Z (2007) has been excluded. Maybe Run This Town was played instead of Umbrella?

That's a very interesting list, especially seeing totals for songs not in your tracking range, Vicapper, even if they are rounded to the nearest 10k. Seems The Big Reunion programme has boosted Atomic Kitten's Whole Again at least over 985k (last year it was on 980k but that was probably nearest 10k too). Nice to see totals for songs from early 00s, although there seems to be very few, as well as Madonna's Hung Up finally reach 600k and 4 Minutes become her 12th song to sell over half a million!

So since May 2012 when Radio 1 revealed the Top 150 Best Selling Singles of the 21st Century (and the OCC gave some further figures on their Facebook), some big catalogue sales include:

18,000-27,000 for Beyonce's Crazy in Love (~23,000)
20,000-29,000 for Sonique's It Feels So Good (~25,000)
26,000-35,000 for Shakira's Hips Don't Lie (~31,000)

Here's the topic from May 2012 if anyone wants to figure out any difference in sales: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=142001

Great list. Some good updates on some old rihanna and gaga hits there, could allow an average to be worked out for trickle sales though the +/- 5k probably makes that problematic.

Bad Romance now at 990k wow close!
