With Gaga's vocal on CTC garnering widespread critical acclaim and her new outlook on autotune, I came to the thought of Gaga's next comeback single being a big pop ballad. Do you think this would work Gaga? Is this what you'd like Gaga to comeback with? Personally, I am f***ing living for her voice on CTC right now and it'll be such an inspired direction for her if she were to go with a big pop ballad, I think radio would eat it up and she has no doubt the pipes to pull of something along these lines <3 |

Hard to say, she has the voice for it, but so far, her ballads have been largely awful.

I usually adore her ballads personally, but they aren't commercial in the same way as say Someone Like You and I think her voice when it comes to ballads is a bit too marmite!

I think she's restrained her voice quite a lot with CTC, and with a good producer on her side she could pull of something quite special.
I loved both 'Brown Eyes' and 'Speechless' but her voice does come off as more broadway than commercial on those. However, I feel if she could do something along the lines of 'The Edge of Glory' but in ballad form it would work quite superbly, especially as a lead single! I also have this funny feeling this is the direction she might be going in idk why, what she says in her interviews and what she's been tweeting lately just pain this picture for me for some reason. |

She needs to work with someone if she wants to release a power ballad. I love "Dope", "Speechless" etc. but they're not good enough to be hit singles. Maybe her and Adele could collab - that would be amazing!

Gags should work with Glen Ballard. He is SO good at producing ballads.
IMO, she and Anastacia has similar voices, powerful and deeper than most other female artists, so working with Glen would do wonders. |

She needs to align herself with the likes of Justin Parker or Diane Warren. Though 'Dope' was hugely popular because of that live performance she did, the #8 peak in the US etc, better safe than sorry! I actually realize more and more how much of a crossover classic TEOG was, radio still spin it on a daily basis and that was her last massive hit she had in the rhelm of the BTW backlash. So if she could do something with that vocal tone and with that catchy hook in a lower tempo, it'd be such a winner. Here's hoping! |

I was just thinking. Imagine how different things could've been if she released "Gypsy" as third single - it would've been a massive crossover hit across pop and adult contemporary stations. It could've easily been ARTPOP's TEOG. Silly Gaga.

Nothing would have smashed by that point. The era was dead right after DWUW.

Even though it isn't a favourite of mine on ARTPOP, I still firmly believe that had 'Gypsy' been the lead single, the era's outcome would have been completely different. It is pure radio candy and exactly what the GP wanted from her.
Though there is no re-writing the management fall out and DWUW fiasco which was the era's nail in the coffin |

Agreed.
Imagine if she'd come back with Gypsy (WHICH WAS UNTIL A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE WITH A SUDDEN CHANGE THE ORIGINAL - the ORIGINAL - first single!!!) or even with, for example, ARTPOP, which sounds completely different to anything on the radio right now, or even Do What You Want, everything would've been different. Gypsy vs. Roar would have been a MUCH more marketable and contentious battle. |

Yes, it would've, but Gypsy v. Roar is far more two-sided than Applause! And ARTPOP would be left-field enough to negate the loss almost completely!

I don't know what GaGa was thinking, challenging Katy Perry in the first place.
Lady GaGa is a smaller force in pop than: Adele, Rihanna, Katy Perry. Releasing against any of those 3 is... damaging. |
