Number 1 today in 1999: To celebrate 15 years since Christina’s debut single Genie In A Bottle topping the Official Singles Chart, we count down her best-selling songs. It’s 1999 and pop is enjoying an imperial phase – a newcomer from across the pond has just had a massive hit, B’Witched, Boyzone, Geri and Steps are all over the Official Singles Chart and there’s a thirst for more. Following in the footsteps of Britney Spears’ huge success comes another former Mouseketeer and friendly rival – Christina Aguilera. Anticipation for the first single by supremely talented US star Christina Aguilera was pretty high – import versions of Genie In A Bottle were sought-after and made it into the chart of their own accord. Fifteen years ago this week, however, the wait was over and the official release of the song went straight in at Number 1, knocking off Eiffel 65’s Blue (Da Ba Dee). Genie In A Bottle stayed there for two weeks until Westlife’s epic ballad Flying Without Wings swooped in and kicked Christina out of its nest. 1 Moves Like Jagger (with Maroon 5) (2011) (1.4m) 2. Genie In A Bottle (1999) (695,000) 3. Lady Marmalade (with Pink, Mya, Lil Kim) (2001) (560,000) 4. Dirrty (2002) (360,000) 5. Beautiful (2003) (355,000) 6. Say Something (with A Great Big World) (2014) 7. Feel This Moment (with Pitbull) (2013) (almost 300,000) 8. Candyman (2007) (over 270,000) 9. Ain't No Other Man (2006) 10. Hurt (2006) 11. What A Girl Wants (2000) 12. Tell Me (with P Diddy) (2006) 13. Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (with Ricky Martin) (2001) 14. Fighter (2003) 15. Car Crash (with Missy Elliott) (2004) 16. The Voice Within (2003) 17. Tilt Ya Head Back (with Nelly) (2004) 18. Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You) (2000) 19. Can't Hold Us Down (with Lil' Kim) (2003) 20. I Turn To You (2000) Just missing out: Keeps Gettin' Better (2008) and Not Myself Tonight (2010) http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/c...-revealed-3195/ |

Booo at Beautiful and Dirty being so far off of gold. They are much bigger hits than sales would suggest. Damn those 2002 - 2009 sales years!

'Fighter' is her best imo, should be in her top 5!

I must admit, I'm surprised that some of the non-entities (hello 12 and 13) are above 'Fighter', shame she had a lot of her big hits in the sales doldrums.
Even more of a shame for 'Your Body' being nowhere to be seen. |

I always thought 'Genie In A Bottle' would be much closer to 1m than that. I also agree that 'Beautiful' and 'Dirty' are much bigger hits than those sales suggest.

The songs in this list are NOT in the order you'd expect. That's the 00's for you really. She has lots of good songs though.

According to my calculations 'Say Something' with A Great Big World should be 4th on that list.

I will never understand how Moves Like Jagger has sold so much. It's a vile song.

It's actually amazing. I didn't like it at all at the start but grew to love it. More than worthy of being the second best selling number 2 of all time.

'Beautiful' had sold 200k in 2003 and 'Dirrty' sold 229k in 2002, so for them to sell 155k and 131k respectively since then is pretty respectable.
'Fighter' was on 159k as of November 2013 ( http://www.officialcharts.com/features/off...a-fighter-2583/ ) so much better than the 66k it sold in 2003. All of the Top 10 has sold 200k+, with 'What a Girl Wants' not being far off I don't think. Not sure how many have passed 100k, I'd say definitely the Top 15 ('Car Wash' was on 94k in 2004). 'The Voice Within' at #16 sold 38k in 2003 but that was with about 2 or 3 weeks of sales as it was released in December. May have passed 100k too by now as it's been used on X Factor as a backing track A LOT. |

Seems strange that 3 of her 7 highest sellers have come since 2011 when she had a fraction of the relevance she once had. Then again none of them were selling because of her (apart from possibly 'Say Something').

Crappy sales if you take out all the features and collaborations.
