Can anyone think of any chart weeks where two or more songs that would go on to become classics were released in the same week? I'll start off:

W/E 3/6/2000

Sonique - It Feels So Good
S Club 7 - Reach

Pretty unfortunate for Reach to run into Sonique for 3 weeks in a row, it's probably their signature song, or at least on par with Don't Stop Movin'.

W/E 27/10/2000

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
Take That - Rule The World

Both million sellers, Rule The World would have topped the chart on pretty much any other week in 2007 with the sale it had sad.gif

I guess the obvious one is w/e 15/12/84
1 - "Do They Know It's Christmas" - Band Aid
2 - "Last Christmas"/"Everything She Wants" - Wham!

From 1997

Spice Girls-Spice Up Your Life
Aqua-Barbie Girl

And

Janet Jackson-Together Again
Robbie Williams-Angels

Teletubbies released a million seller that week too-but would we count that as a 'classic'?

I don't know if I'm stretching it to call Runaway by The Corrs a 'classic' but it was released on the same week as Baby One More Time. I was devastated.

But this is based on weeks 2 classics were new entries and not when 2 classics were in the same chart but were released on different weeks smile.gif

It's stretching it less than Sonique!

On the other hand, that was the third time 'Runaway' had been released.

laugh.gif I guess it's a classic in certain dance circles, even though it seems to be becoming more and more forgotten as time goes on. For the record I've never actually cared much for the song, or any of her material.

I suppose everyone's idea of what songs are considered classics will differ.

Week Ending 18/03/1989
Madonna - Like A Prayer
Guns N Roses - Paradise City

In my humble opinion, both of these have stood the test of time well.

Week Ending 08/12/1973
Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
Elton John - Step Into Christmas

Elton didn't make the top 40 that week, but entered next week where Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody was also a new entry. Who'd have thought that 40 years later they would all be Christmas classics?

Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
System F - Out of the Blue
TLC - No Scubs

all three were the peak of the respective genres for many.

New Radicals - You Get What You Give was also released that week.

The following week saw both Eminem - My Name Is and Phats & Small - Turn Around.
