January is notoriously quiet for new releases in the chart so why more artists don't take advantage of this lull remains a mystery. Seeing how well Pitbull & Clean Bandit did in the UK with January releases this year may encourage other artists to follow suit. Hopefully anyway!

Could be a contender for #1 if they don't bring "Uptown Funk" forward a week actually - though gift card effect will undoubtedly benefit the likes of Ed Sheeran and Olly Murs and therefore pose a risk.

That's a possibility with the X Factor performance of it currently at #6 on iTunes Still a great song though as well. It's pretty much a guaranteed #1 no matter what! Apparantely the reason Uptown Funk isn't out until January is because Capital didn't want to playlist it until after the Jingle Bell Ball (because they are focusing on playing artists from the lineup), and Sony didn't want to release it until it had had a few weeks of Capital support. I was surprised they had that release date for Albatraoz in the first place, judging from its success in Europe and now Australia (where it is top 3 on itunes) I can see it being a #1 contender to be honest (or at least top 3). It'll be interesting to see what they do with Uptown Funk, the label would be silly to leave it until the 11th, they need to bring it forward AT LEAST a week or two, though it'll be #1 regardless.
