I actually really like Ben's version but it's a shame he can't release on a different week other than Christmas week. I really hope UF can somehow take it even if it was close because I'd love a normal song at #1 but ala it doesn't look to happen

Uptown Funk for Xmas No.1 please *.* Ben for a Band Aid style slowdown s'il vous plait. I second this but the download decrease will probabaly be cancelled out by decentish cd sales unfort. He should be xmas No1 and UF massive on giftcard weke (maybe over 150k that week??). Hopefull a lesson for artists/record companies that songs can now compete with XF as its popularity and the ammount downloading songs decreases! |

Thanks! Hopefully Real Love can make its way back into the top 40 for one more week to match Another Love's top 40 weeks (and would be odd if the John Lewis track wasn't in the Xmas chart ) I agree, its streaming has fallen badly and the download is just about top 40 on itunes. You should check out the live lounge from this morning. I thought it would help him alot more. He performed it & a new xmas song he had just written which i have high hopes of support next year perhaps if its on his new album?! Youd love it since you like him alot. Tom i think is on Alan Carr or Graham this week too?! |

I must have a listen, excited to hear a new track from him! And yes, he's on one of the chat shows this week which is a good sign, hopefully it can give Real Love a bit of a boost. |

John Lewis can't have paid for as much advertising space this year, which is quite odd considering every store is kitted out with a floor full of Monty the Penguin merchandise that they surely will want to shift.

The Peace Collective and Iron Maiden both not even top 40. Oh dear. Well Iron Maiden are top 40 today The Peace Collective are 4 places off but will of course drop over the week, unbelievable how bad they're doing when The Justice Collective managed an easy #1... |

Looking at other new entries, Peace Collective and OneRepublic's version of Something I Need is not that far away from the 40, but the former will probably trail off, Coldplay are top 70 with Miracles and the new track from Sia.

It's very odd! The Monty toys are so popular still, I've not managed to get my hands on one yet, and the advert was trending on Twitter for several days. Shame it's not been on TV much. |

Maybe they thought they didn't need to air it as much this year because it gets so much free promo from people tweeting it/internet hype. Still seems weird but I'm sure John Lewis are selling lots of stuff which at the end of the day matters more to them than whether Real Love is a massive hit or not.

They seem to be showing a 15 second long short version of the advert, mostly.

It looks like the #2 single will pass 100,000 first week sales. The last time this happened was from 5-11 January when "Timber" knocked "Happy" off number 1
