Happily surprised at Love Me Harder gaining at Hot 100!! I thought she would be out a few weeks ago. Must be the radio gains. The number 2-6 songs waiting patiently for their turn at the top spot. Taylor is still doing well on iTunes and YouTube so she will remain at number one for a few more weeks.

Uptown Funk is the greatest gainer in all three areas (airplay, sales, streaming) so it will probably be the next #1 but Blank Space will reign for another 2 or 3 weeks at least.

Good to see 'Ghost' still climbing. Hope it can at least make the top 40 eventually.
Yay for 'Stolen Dance' making the top 40 as well When was the last time a German act had a US top 40 hit? I'm probably forgetting someone obvious but it doesn't seem like something that would happen too often. (I suppose it'd be Zedd if he's counted as German but he was born in Russia). |

The only one I could think of right away was Cascada with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" though there may have been smaller hits that hit the top 40 briefly that I'm missing.

Only Meghan Trainor & Mark Ronson are likely to get there IMO. Hozier could sneak 1 week in there. Depends how fast Taylor's sales drift off. He is up on airplay and streaming only second to Taylor and beating her on sales. Could be interesting. Meghan doesn't stand a chance as Mark/Bruno look set to take over in about 2 weeks and will probably settle there for the quiet Jan period. |

Only Meghan Trainor & Mark Ronson are likely to get there IMO. Ed Sheeran has a very strong chance. He's pretty much guaranteed a Grammy performance slot, which will do wonders for "Thinking Out Loud" if it's not already #1 by then.So pleased to see the return of original songs on The Voice! "Wasted Love" sounds especially good. |

The only one I could think of right away was Cascada with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" though there may have been smaller hits that hit the top 40 briefly that I'm missing. I certainly can't think of any German Hot 100 entries since then. German acts have had a huge influence and a lot of prominence in several genres (especially electronic, Eurodance, and metal) but these don't often align with American Top 40 pop tastes, except in the early-mid 90s when Eurodance was huge and the chart was flooded with German acts. And it seems lately German tastes have skewed away from bad, English-singing ripoffs (sorry Sarah Connor) and more toward authentic, homegrown German language stuff. Which is great. But still it's kind of a shame to see such a lack of German acts on the Hot 100 given the number of entries representing the UK, Ireland, Sweden, even France and Norway lately... |
