So with the upcoming Royal Rumble coming our way in a weeks time I thought it would be fun to rate each and every Rumble match from 1988 up to 2014.
You must simply give out one 11 & three 10's. Hopefully you'll have seen all of the Rumble matches if you're that much of a dedicated WWE Fan Here's the respectable years & template! 00 1988 00 1989 00 1990 00 1991 00 1992 00 1993 00 1994 00 1995 00 1996 00 1997 00 1998 00 1999 00 2000 00 2001 00 2002 00 2003 00 2004 00 2005 00 2006 00 2007 00 2008 00 2009 00 2010 00 2011 00 2012 00 2013 00 2014 each 11, 10, or 00 for example will be totalled up going by how popular they are rated by other members based on how brilliant or meh or just good they were and I'll reveal the results during Rumble week. Have Fun! This post has been edited by Rob S: Feb 2 2015, 03:14 PM |

I don't think I'm gonna be able to do this. I've only seen the 2011, 2013 & 2014 Royal Rumble matches in full. I would have watched the 2012 rumble match but I didn't have internet connection over the weekend that it took place and for all the pre-2011 rumble matches I didn't know about any streams that I could watch it on.

2000 is my favourite rumble! Not only because of the rumble match itself, but the whole PPV was that damn good! In particular Triple H vs. Cactus Jack; Street Fight! (One of my all time favourite matches!)
And of course we also had Hardyz vs. Dudleyz; Tables Match, with THAT spot from above the entrance by Jeff! *.* |

Great idea, gonna have to rewatch a few, are we good to leave a few out, not seen any pre-1998, 2001 easily getting my 11 for Kane |

It might mean the old ones will probably fall out straight away when I'm revealing the results but I understand if everyone doesn't have the time to go through all or whatever This post has been edited by Rob S: Jan 18 2015, 11:05 AM |

Agreed that the 2000 Royal Rumble was the best (although the less said about the swimsuit competition the better). Rey Mysterio starting from first winning the 2006 Rumble was pretty iconic as well.

I will be editing this but I want to get my votes in before I forget!
03.0 1988 >> Pretty bland and uneventful, considering it's the first ever rumble! << 07.0 1989 09.0 1990 >> The crowd were on FIRE for this one. The first ten superstars were amongst the most iconic performers of all time! I really enjoyed it! << 06.5 1991 08.0 1992 04.5 1993 06.5 1994 >> DAT ENDING THO... << 06.0 1995 07.0 1996 05.0 1997 >> I don't like it when one man practically dominates and keeps eliminating people so he's in the ring on his own. It's boring. But it was a very good finale! << 07.5 1998 01.0 1999 >> Barring McMahon/Austin, this was proper poop and had nothing else going for it, at all. << 11.0 2000 10.0 2001 06.5 2002 >> Lita saves everything tbh. This was ok, up until the cameras started focussing on everything but the in-ring action/stupidly long entrances! << 06.0 2003 07.5 2004 08.0 2005 >> Loved the beatdown on Hassan! << 06.0 2006 08.5 2007 09.0 2008 >> Madison Square Garden, ALWAYS delivers! << 07.0 2009 07.0 2010 07.5 2011 06.0 2012 07.0 2013 06.5 2014 >> The result/no DB ruined EVERYTHING. << |

Argh, I don't know how anyone can give 1989 a 5!
I'd have to do this from memory as most (especially in the past 15 years) of them all roll into one in my mind. 6 1988 - I agree, it was more of a prototype at this point, not enough people in it and not enough talent. 10 1989 - The first proper one - I loved it from the moment Demolition drew 1 and 2 until the point John Studd redeemed himself for a career as a huge heel. 8 1990 - A bit of a step backwards - although it is memorable for the point that Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior started trading punches. 10 1991 - the first one I ever saw, the first wrestling PPV I ever saw in fact. As a result it holds really good memories for me, even if it wasn't the greatest ever line-up or ending. 11 1992 - hands down the greatest Rumble ever - Ric Flair entering at number 3 and staying until the end to win the title. The moment where he clears the ring only to meet Roddy Piper is legendary. 6 1994 - I had this on VHS for some reason, but definitely not a classic with a pretty stupid ending. 10 2000 - this was a good one, shown on channel 4 if I recall, so the first I saw in a long time. I really can't remember which was which of the others. However, I'll happily give a higher rating to any where it wasn't basically wrestlers 1 and 2 the whole way through with nearly everyone else getting knocked out after about 30 seconds. Those Rumbles are awful...that one where Nexus kept on chucking everyone out was the worst. At least Stone Cold did that in a fairly entertaining way. |

02 1999 this was so bad! It felt like it dragged too
10 2000 11 2001 09 2002 07 2003 03 2011 - Re-watched this last night, for a 40 man Rumble they could have had so many more surprises. 05 2012 06 2013 05 2014 Need to re-watch the others, can't remember a thing! |

Sorry Richie I didn't really enjoy the earlier rumbles much might have to re watch that one to see if it can improve on me though. The 1992 was the best of that century hands down.

Heh, very much of their time as a lot of the "old skool" stuff is. I usually watch the rumble every year but recently haven't got that much out of them due to not knowing who anyone is. Looking forward to next weekend's (if I can find a D/L of it) as I'm actively following WWE again at the moment. |

Argh, I don't know how anyone can give 1989 a 5! I saw that one for the first time last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! I only marked it a "7" though due to wishing I was invested in characters more. I'm sure had I been born and followed it back then, Big John Studd and a couple of others would have got me rooting for them! Hulk Hogan can FO though. Ugh I've NEVER got the appeal with him, ever. LOVE Jake The Snake running back to the ring with Damien to scare Andre The Giant off/eliminate himself! That feud I wish I knew more about too. (But Jake was one I always liked as a kid, growing up. Well him and 'taker!)

I'm sure had I been born and followed it back then, Big John Studd and a couple of others would have got me rooting for them! Studd had always been a huge heel in WWF but had been out of the federation for about three years. He came back in late 1988 as a fan favourite and feuded against Bobby Heenan his former manager who by then was managing Andre the Giant his former enemy. I think they had a lot of hope for Studd as a face but he had his problems and he left again not longer after Wrestlemania V I think where he was a referee rather than actually wrestling. |

Ok I'll put in my to do list for the week to re watch that rumble then. Tbh I'm fairly sure I enjoyed it more so I may knock my points up once I've seen it again.

It will be quite hard to rate most of these as I've only seen 3 rumble matches in full and they were at the time of when it took place. For the others already knowing the winner and the power of hindsight could affect my rating but for the 2000 rumble match I will give that at least a 10 because I know I would have loved watching that Live and The Rock was my favourite wrestler then so him winning would have made me enjoy even more.
I still need to watch many more rumble matches before I can give my final ratings so I will edit this as I go along. 00 1988 00 1989 00 1990 00 1991 00 1992 00 1993 00 1994 01 1995 (Not a good idea to have the first two guys as the last two as well) 00 1996 00 1997 00 1998 02 1999 10 2000 (A fun rumble match during the best period of WWF/E wrestling and the perfect winner) 11 2001 (This was a really fun match which was also at a good pace and didn't have too many rest spots) 06 2002 03 2003 00 2004 00 2005 00 2006 05 2007 00 2008 00 2009 04 2010 (Shawn Michaels was the only good thing about this match) 06 2011 00 2012 05 2013 05 2014 This post has been edited by Fareek 2K15: Jan 29 2015, 01:47 AM |
