Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 01/02 to 07/02 chart Funk's #1 in every city, every state, every country you know 'Uptown Funk' seems to have #1 on lock for a sixth consecutive week and 7 weeks in total - the last record to do both was Leona Lewis's 'Bleeding Love' in 2007! There'll be a fair few new entries in comparison to last week, including Fergie's 'L.A. LOVE (La La)', Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney's 'FourFiveSeconds', Karen Harding's 'Say Something' (NOT the song by A Great Big World/Christina!) and Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo's 'Rhymes' which are all hoping to get Top 10 placings. Further down the chart should see Selena Gomez' 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' and Maroon 5's 'Sugar' enter whilst there could be a re-entry for Esmée Denters' 2009 #7 hit 'Outta Here' following her entering as a contestant on The Voice UK. The #1 spot in the albums seems quite open at this stage: it's possible that Mark Ronson will stay at #1 for a second week, Meghan Trainor's debut album Title will enter at #1 or Ed Sheeran's x could re-climb to the top spot. The Top 10 should also see Sound of...2015 nominee Rae Morris enter with Unguarded whilst other new entries should come from The Charlatans, Papa Roach, Bethel Music and Gaz Coombes. ======================================================== Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday, however they may come from other sources - this is not always guaranteed. You can still post your own predictions for the week to generate chat to the topic. Wednesday - Radio 1 Chart Top 40 mid update will be posted with links to Radio 1 and any other chart info from MW and OCC from 3:30pm to 4pm Friday - Final Mid update from MW from 11am onwards. Sales info is a separate issue will be available from 2pm onwards if available. To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action please refer to the iTunes thread topic. |

There should be a nice shake-up at the top end of the singles chart this week.
In albums I think Meghan could pip Ed to the #1 spot. Mark should complete the top three. |

'Solo Dancing' at #80 currently, very successful re-release I'm sure we'll agree.

Urgh, I'd rather not see Meghan Trainor get the #1 album - Ed managed 23k last week, are people expecting her to sell beyond that? Pleased to see Rae Morris at #4 though, hopefully it can hold a T10 placing.
Fab to see 'FourFiveSeconds' at #6 already, hoping it and 'L.A. Love' can both come close to 100k. |

UF sold under 100k last week on downloads so very doubtful that Rihanna or Fergie can do the same, I predict 80k for #2, whichever song that is. This post has been edited by SKOB: Jan 27 2015, 12:41 PM |

I still think it was a pointless re-release since it's already a top 15 single though. If it was done at a reduced price (59p) then I imagine it would have done a lot better with this re-release, but as you say considering it has already been a hit it does seem rather pointless. Just looks like the label have a lack of confidence in the rest of her material. EDIT: Just seen it has actually been reduced to 59p now haha. It's had a decent affect too. Jumped 20 places. |

Its quite a refreshing chart this week, seeing quite a few new entries and the occasional classic re-entry, at least some of the deadwood is falling out for now.

Lol you know for a fact that Ed will end up in the top five if he's not there already. I doubt that Fall Out Boy will have enough purchases to remain top five, on the other hand. Charlatans' sales will probably be fanbase-driven and will drop as the week continues.
Happy that Rihanna and co. are just outside the top five in singles already. Hopefully it remains consistent on iTunes throughout the week. |
