Madonna confirms appearance at 2015 BRIT Awards

Madonna has announced that she will appear at the 2015 BRIT Awards.

The singer confirmed rumours of her attendance at this year's ceremony via her Twitter page:



The star joins a number of previously confirmed performers for the awards, including Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, George Ezra, Take That and Royal Blood.

Sam and Ed leads this year's BRITs nominations with five and four nods respectively, with both competing with Alt-J, George Ezra and Royal Blood for the coveted Album of the Year prize. See the full nominations list here.

Meanwhile, Madonna recently confirmed her appearance at this year's Grammy Awards on February 8. She is currently promoting her upcoming album Rebel Heart, which is released on March 9.

Very happy about this! Just the promotion she needed - hopefully a Graham Norton Show performance or other televised promotion will be confirmed soon.

They've at least learnt one thing from the MDNA era - promotion is vital! The Grammys and BRITs are two great and big sets of promo for both of Madonna's biggest markets and hopefully it'll pay off really well. I believe she will be performing a melody of new songs at the Grammys and I think that would be great for the BRITs too, although I'd be happy enough with just 'Living for Love' being performed.

Max Lousada, chairman of the BRITs, issued a statement about Madonna's BRIT performance: "We are delighted to bring Madonna back to the awards. She’s an icon, an innovator and, above all, an entertainer. Having her as part of the show will guarantee an unforgettable night of music."

Madonna has won two BRIT awards - both for International Female, in 2001 and 2006 - and has only performed once before: 'Bedtime Story' at the 1995 BRIT Awards.

If i could go back in time, the first step i would take would be into a venue for the Confessions Tour. I can't imagine what it would have been like to see that album come to life in front of my eyes cry.gif

I do watch footage from her concerts throughout the 90s too and really wish i could have been there to witness them first hand. It obviously won't be the same now, but just to say i've been in the same room as her is enough for me at this point.

True, even though S&S (1.0) wasn't that good, I still felt like it was INCREDIBLE just being there within the same space as her.

(I may have wept a shade at the 4 lines we got of Express Yourself too, but that's a whole other story)

We all know how much of a perfectionist Madonna is so she's really not going to be happy with that. If anyone's watching the backstage show, let us know if she's there/gets mentioned!
