Chart Highlights
  • Taylor Swift spends her 11th non-consecutive week at #1 with "1989", tieing the 11 weeks she spent on top with "Fearless" in 2008/2009.
  • Taylor is the second woman to spend 11 weeks or more at #1 with two albums: Whitney Houston's self-titled debut spent 14 weeks at #1 in 1986 and "Whitney" spent 11 weeks at the summit in 1987.
  • The other ladies whose albums have spent 11+ weeks at #1 are Adele's "21" (24 weeks in 2011/2012), Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" (12 weeks in 1995/1996), and Mariah Carey's self-titled debut (11 weeks in 1991). Before this, there's a 20 year gap: Carole King's "Tapestry" spent 15 weeks at #1 in 1971.

I like how both Sheeran's and Sam Smith's albums are just hanging around... it's like a lower level Adele's 21.

QUOTE(britster @ Feb 11 2015, 04:42 PM) *
BILLBOARD 200

(billboard chart date 21st February 2015)

LW TW ARTIST - TITLE - TW UNITS - [SALES + TEA + SEA] * - (TOTAL SALES)

01 01 Taylor Swift - 1989 - 108,000 - [76,769 + 31,000] - (4,264,935)
** 02 NOW 53 - 99,324 - [99,324] (NEW)

This is the first time since the inception of TEA & SEA (10 weeks ago) that the week's biggest selling album isn't #1 on the Billboard 200.
  • NOW 53 sold 99,324 copies but enters the chart at #2.
  • Taylor Swift's "1989" sold 76,769 but remains at #1.
I couldn't care less about NOW 53, but it will be interesting when an artist album loses out on bragging rights.

Could you imagine what would happen if it was Kanye West who lost out? rotf.gif

Can't see it happening, but it would be funny and would probably result in an instant change by Billboard in their chart methodology laugh.gif

  • Katy Perry - 29,000 albums (up from 21,000)
    - PRISM - 13,000
  • Missy Elliott - 8,000 albums (up from 2,000)

Not as big an effect for Katy Perry as you'd expect.
