Friday Chart Predictions

Can Little Mix sustain another week at the top of the singles chart, close at their heels their nearest competitors seem to be Sigma featuring Ella Henderson on 'Glitterball', other new entries from Foxes with 'Body Talk', Aston Merrygold 'Get Stupid' not to be confused with 'I'm Stupid' by the Pet Shop Boys, and Bring Me To The Horizon with 'Throne', the latter might just fall away by the end of the week. And a possible new entry into the 40 from Shaggy feat. Mohombi, Faydee & Costi with 'I Need Your Love'. 'Go' from The Chemical Brothers might benefit from the album release to peak inside the top 40 at long last. Old single tracks will have the benefit of climbing back up the chart on the back of the new NOW 91 compilation album out this week.

Years & Years will face strong competition from The Chemical Brothers this week with their new release of 'Born In The Echoes' fighting for that #1 spot in the album chart. Other new album releases from Lamb of God 'VII: Sturm Und Drang', Bugzy Malone 'Walk With Me', Hopsin 'Pound Syndrome', Sleafood Mods 'Key Markets', NOW 91 and The Nation's Favourite 80s Number Ones compilation albums on the back of the TV special that was shown last night.

On a different note how about getting creative with a banner to grace this topic every week, must include Friday Chart Predictions in the banner, PM your banners to a chart mod, we could even alternate the banners every month, if we have quite a few entries. Get creative!!!

I have a feeling Sigma (featuring Ella Henderson) might pip Little Mix to the top spot this week, I'll be surprised if they manage another week.

The thing is, iTunes is deceiving because it looks like they have a large lead but because everyone else below has multiple versions, as well as stronger streaming Sigma will probably only end up at 3/4/5.

It's unfair for new songs to have their chart positions dented by a lot of songs benefitting from the NOW 91 effect

Yeah, but they could have released songs next week instead...

Too much streaming for Sigma to make it, I would say #3 or 4. Still a good result though.

If Little Mix are still #1 on sales this Friday, it means they've had the NOW 91 effect keeping them at the top

I guess some managements don't realize the impact of cherry-picking off of new NOW! albums.

True!
A mistake by Sigmas label 3Beat. But tbf they generally seem a very good label.
Maybe actually the ''mistake'' was not getting on that NOW album, Aston got the gig!

If they wanna make it fair, they should make every track on NOW 91 album-only

That Sigma single has been streaming for ages but I don't think anyone realized, otherwise it would have been a lot higher on the streaming charts, you think Ella Henderson at least would let her fans know, that will cost them a number one

Aston Merrygold on Twitter saying he's No.4 on the official update chart...

I don't understand...

Do they get one on Saturday/Sunday that we don't get no more!

I hate this new chart days thing, i preferred it before.

Midweeks not seen by us on Saturday/Sunday
Official update Monday
Midweeks seen by us till Friday

Old
Songs released Monday
Midweeks Tuesday every single day (hopefully)

Correction: Songs released Sunday

I don't see big difference to be honest, only we get the first midweeks 1 day later, that's not the end of the world, it makes it more exciting.
Also I like it that the new releases are on a Friday with the official chart Friday afternoon. Good start for a weekend, it's better than right at the end of the weekend. You will get to use to it.

Every changes are like this, people hated when downloads were included to the chart, than when streaming were included and by time less and less people said anything bad about it. Now hate towards the Friday release date... wait a year and you can tell if it's good or not.

I much prefer releases coming out on a Friday, I'm usually able to get to the shops on Saturday so can see new releases quite quickly, whereas as I work all week with no shops nearby I used to have to wait five days to get anything.

I stopped listening to the chart anyway so don't care about the chart move day, and as much as I'd have hated the lack of a fully played top 40 a decade ago, I couldn't care less now when the charts move so slowly and the bottom 15 is usually complete deadwood anyway.

I also love reading the sales and commentary over the weekend as I have more time then than on Monday. I'm sure Alan Jones must be relieved not to have to work Sundays anymore too!
