Biography
Abel Tesfaye (born February 16, 1990), known by his stage name The Weeknd, is a Canadian PBR&B recording artist and record producer. In late 2010, Tesfaye anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name "The Weeknd". He released three nine-track mixtapes throughout 2011: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, which were critically acclaimed. The following year, he released a compilation album, Trilogy, consisting of remastered versions of the mixtape material and three additional songs. It was released under Republic Records and his own label XO. In 2013, he released his debut studio album Kiss Land, which was supported by the singles "Kiss Land", and "Live For".

The Weeknd has received praise from several music publications, including Pitchfork, MTV, BET, Rolling Stone, XXL and The Source. MTV's John Norris has dubbed him the "songbird of his generation" and the "best musical talent since Michael Jackson".

Nasty Girl is also great from 2006, a Hip Hop song that still works so well at house parties!

Biography
Of Italian and English extraction, former poet-turned-acoustic singer/songwriter Jack Savoretti was given a guitar and encouraged to write music by his mother, a model who had hung out with Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones back in the '60s. His first single, Without, was released in late 2006. A minor hit on the U.K.'s premier MOR station, BBC Radio 2, it was enough to attract the attention of Corinne Bailey Rae, who asked Savoretti to join her on her European tour that year. Savoretti's first full-length offering, Between the Minds, was released in 2007, and was a Top 100 charter in the U.K. that year. His first solo tour — of the coffee shop chain Caffè Nero — kicked off in early 2008 and was followed by the re-release of his debut album, this time featuring a bonus disc of acoustic versions.

Savoretti started to become well-known in the U.S. after a number of his songs were featured in movies and TV shows, including the colossally successful romantic teen drama series One Tree Hill. Despite his second album, 2009's Harder than Easy, being recorded with a stellar lineup including members of Tom Waits' band and Counting Crows, and mixed by Grammy winner Jack Joseph Puig, it was not promoted the way he would have liked, being released in the U.S. only as a download. He parted ways with his label and management and almost quit the music business altogether before being bitten by the songwriting bug once again and going on to write a third album. The result, 2012's Before the Storm, produced by Swedish hit factory the Suppliers and recorded in just four days, received a generally positive critical response and reinvigorated Savoretti's career. In 2014 he signed with a major label (BMG) for the first time, and started work on a fourth album. Released early the following year, Written in Scars was co-penned by Sam Dixon and Matt Benbrook — who between them had worked with such names as Adele, Sia, Paolo Nutini, Jake Bugg, and Faithless — and saw Savoretti taking influence for the first time from the '60s & '70s Italian pop music his father had loved.

Biography
A talented Swedish vocalist and songwriter with a penchant for crafting soulful electro-pop that falls somewhere between Rihanna, Lorde, and Robyn, Zara Maria Larsson first caught the public's eyes and ears in 2008 as the winner of the popular Swedish talent show Talang Sverige (the regional version of Got Talent). Born on December 16, 1997 in Stockholm, Larsson inked a deal with Ten Music Group after winning Talang, and issued her debut EP, Introducing, which featured the hit single "Uncover," in 2013. The song was certified triple platinum in her home country, and after another EP, Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself, Larsson began work on her official debut long-player. The resulting 1 arrived in 2014 via Record Company Ten and Universal Music. Three additional singles reached the Swedish Top Ten: "She's Not Me," "Carry You Home," and "Rooftop." A pair of new singles for 2015 proved to be her international breakthrough; first "Lush Life" reached the Top Ten across Europe, then "Never Forget You" (featuring MNEK) hit the Top Ten in Great Britain. - iTunes

Biography
Brooklyn-based alt-rock ensemble X Ambassadors make passionate, dark, and literate music that mixes acoustic, electric, and electronic sounds. Originally, the band formed while singer/songwriter Sam Harris, his keyboardist brother Casey Harris, and childhood friend/guitarist Noah Feldshuh were in college. However, X Ambassadors officially solidified around 2010 after the three moved to New York City, where they met drummer Adam Levin. They released their sophomore EP (and major-label debut), Love Songs Drug Songs, on Interscope in 2012. In 2014, the group received wider exposure when its song "The Jungle," a collaboration with Jamie N Commons, was featured in a commercial for Dr. Dre's electronics/headphones company Beats by Dre. On the heels of this success, X Ambassadors released their third EP, The Reason. In 2015, they released their debut full-length album, VHS, which featured production from Alex Da Kid and included "Renegades." The single helped the album debut at number seven on the Billboard 200. - iTunes

Biography
David Robert Jones (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016), known as David Bowie (/ˈboʊ.i/), was an English singer, songwriter, record producer, painter and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s.

Born and raised in south London, Bowie developed an interest in music while at Burnt Ash junior school and showed aptitude in singing and playing the recorder. When he left school he studied art, music and design, and became proficient on the saxophone, forming his first band that year at the age of 15. He embarked on a professional career as a musician in 1963, and received his first management contract shortly afterwards. "Space Oddity" became his first top five entry on the UK Singles Chart after its release in July 1969. After a period of experimentation, he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with his flamboyant and androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. The character was spearheaded by his single "Starman" and album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved to be one facet of a career marked by reinvention, musical innovation and visual presentation.

In 1975, Bowie achieved his first major American crossover success with the number-one single "Fame" and the album Young Americans, which the singer characterised as "plastic soul". The sound constituted a radical shift in style that initially alienated many of his UK devotees. He then confounded the expectations of both his record label and his American audiences by recording the electronic-inflected album Low (1977), the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno later known as the "Berlin Trilogy". "Heroes" (1977) and Lodger (1979) followed; each album reached the UK top five and received lasting critical praise. After uneven commercial success in the late 1970s, Bowie had UK number ones with the 1980 single "Ashes to Ashes", its parent album Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), and "Under Pressure", a 1981 collaboration with Queen. He then reached a new commercial peak in 1983 with Let's Dance, which yielded several successful singles. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles, including industrial and jungle. He also had a successful but sporadic film career. His acting roles include the eponymous character in The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Major Celliers in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), the Goblin King Jareth in Labyrinth (1986), Pontius Pilate in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Nikola Tesla in The Prestige (2006), among other film and television appearances and cameos.

Bowie's impact was enormous; he changed the nature of rock music, and changed his own approach repeatedly. During his career, he sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide. In the UK, he was awarded nine platinum album certifications, eleven gold and eight silver, and in the US received five platinum and seven gold certifications. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Bowie stopped concert touring after 2004, and last performed live at a charity event in 2006. In 2013, he returned from a decade-long recording hiatus, remaining musically active until his death from liver cancer three years later.

Biography
Shahid Khan (born 13 March 1985), often credited by his artist and production name Naughty Boy, is a British DJ, songwriter, record producer and musician. In 2012, Khan signed a three-year publishing deal with Sony ATV, as well as a recording contract to release one album under Virgin EMI Records. Khan launched himself as a record producer under the moniker "Naughty Boy" and runs his own production company called Naughty Boy Recordings.

Naughty Boy has produced two top-ten records for UK rappers Chipmunk and Wiley, both featuring Emeli Sandé. Naughty Boy and Sandé later formed a writing and production partnership, leading to Sandé landing her own record deal with Virgin and EMI. Sandé went on to be named the Critics Choice for the 2012 BRIT Awards, and release her debut album Our Version of Events (2012), a record co-written/produced with Naughty Boy. Khan spent 2011 and 2012 working on records for Leona Lewis, JLS, Cheryl Cole, Jennifer Hudson, Alesha Dixon and Tinie Tempah, among others.

In 2013, Naughty Boy released his debut album Hotel Cabana. The set features prominent collaborator Sandé, as well as Ed Sheeran, Gabrielle and others. It was preceded by the release of the top-ten single "Wonder" (featuring Sandé), the number one hit "La La La", featuring Sam Smith and "Lifted", another collaboration with Sandé. His debut album peaked at number two in the UK.

On 19 October 2013, Naughty Boy's "La La La" was awarded 'Best Song' and 'Best Video' at the MOBO Award's 18th Anniversary.

Biography
One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. Previously, Zayn Malik was a member until his departure from the band on 25 March 2015. The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after forming and finishing third in the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor in 2010. Propelled to international success by social media, One Direction's four albums, Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013) and Four (2014) topped charts in most major markets, and generated hit singles including "What Makes You Beautiful", "Live While We're Young", "Story of My Life" and "Steal My Girl".

Their achievements include five Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, eleven MTV Europe Music Awards, and nineteen Teen Choice Awards out of nineteen nominations, among many others. According to Nick Gatfield, the chairman and chief executive of Sony Music Entertainment UK, One Direction represented a $50 million business empire by June 2012. They were proclaimed 2012's "Top New Artist" by Billboard. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, by April 2013, they had an estimated personal combined wealth of £25 million ($41.2m) making them the second-wealthiest musicians in the UK under 30 years of age. In 2014, Forbes listed them the second-highest earning celebrities under 30, with the group earning an estimated $75 million from June 2013 to June 2014.

After the release of Four, One Direction became the first band in the U.S. Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums debut at number one. Their third album, Midnight Memories, was the biggest-selling album worldwide of 2013 despite being released in late November. In 2014, Billboard named One Direction Artist of the Year
