BGT is probably my favourite (of the talent shows I should say) because it's just fun and much less intense than the other shows. The pure reason for the show is entertainment and you rarely see much of the competition aspect. Also, the judging line-up has been perfect which I guess is why there's been no changes for 5 series now. BGT has the tone of the show just right and the right line-up of judges; something which X Factor has failed to do with a while.

'The Big Bang Theory' and 'The Walking Dead' should (quite easily) be top 10! Both seriously good and so much better than some tripe above it!

16. The Catherine Tate Show • 345 points
66-18-16 No. of votes: 16, Highest score: 39 (April) 16th February 2004 – 25th December 2007 (3 series) • UK TV and Soaps The Catherine Tate Show' was a sketch show featuring many an iconic and hilarious character. The most famous of which is probably Lauren Cooper, with the phrase 'Am I Bovvered?' becoming engrained in our culture and a Comic Relief sketch even saw Tony Blair utter the words. Then you have Nan, an old woman who holds nothing back and is the opposite of political correctness. The character has seen four full-length specials over the years, highlighting the popularity of the main show itself. My personal highlights away from these two characters were, of course, the posh family (particularly the now Buzzjack infamous 'Gooseberry and Cinnamon yoghurt' sketch) and the translator sketch! There was also the long-running ginger sketch which saw things like 'Gingers for Justice' and the Ginger safe house. The show was incredibly popular and deservedly so because it's consistently hilarious throughout and one of the funniest ever shows for me! |

15. Parks and Recreation • 351 points
11-10-15 No. of votes: 13, Highest score: 40 (Pavel) 9th April 2009 – 24th February 2015 (7 seasons) • International TV Parks and Recreation is a mockumentary style sitcom based in a Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee. There's a wide range of talent within the show and its not hard to see why most of its stars have gone on to see further success. Amy Poehler particularly shines as Leslie Knope, a woman who loves to work and has high aspirations. The character of Ron Swanson though is my favourite as he is the complete opposite to Leslie as he tries to bring down the government from the inside. He couldn't care less about his job and I love his glances to the camera. It's for these reasons why I also love his assistant, April. The show works well with its documentary style but it is the ensemble cast that really help to make it stand out and be hilarious. There's not really one character that isn't needed as they all help to offer something, they're all hilarious and they all work well together. It's one of the funniest US sitcoms that I've seen on many different levels! |

14. The Inbetweeners • 368 points
5-12-14 No. of votes: 16, Highest score: 37 (Noahspike) 1st May 2008 – 18th October 2010 (3 series) • UK TV and Soaps The Inbetweeners is one of, if not THE, biggest shows that E4 has produced as teenagers/young adults everywhere related to the lives of four best mates. The sitcom follows the lives of these four very 'ordinary' teenagers who are neither the cool kids nor the uncool kids, rather they are the inbetweeners. Many a cringeworthy moment arises though as they to live how others their age live. Their attempts at underage drinking, getting with girls and becoming the cool kids all have hilarious results. These including puking on a crush's little brother, a ~private part~ hanging out in front of an audience, insulting a group with Down Syndrome and ensuring all your classmates are chucked out of a pub. It's hard not to keep a straight face during the show and it is one of the best shows to explore teenage life. The four main characters all have their different personalities which means each guy is likely to relate to one of them. (Neil is the best though) As with many critically aclaimed comedys, the show quit while it was ahead by ending with its third series. The demand was still huge though leading to two very successful films (although, while the second was great, the storyline meant it should have ended with the first film imo). Quotes from the show are also regularly heard from its target generation several years after it ended. |

I've watched the fourth season since voting which is probably my favourite yet so I might have given it more than I did now! |

13. Big Brother UK • 396 points
08-03-13 No. of votes: 14, Highest score: 40 (troylovesmusic, Liam) 18th July 2000 - present (16 series) • Reality TV The KING of reality TV perhaps surprises by falling out of the Top 10 despite a large Buzzjack fanbase. I'll try not to get too carried away in this commentary (edit: i did) but the show has become absolutely essential viewing for me. It helps generate a whole wide range of emotions and, yes, anger and frustration are two that can crop up often, with these becoming aimed at the producers more and more~ The show at its heart is about putting individuals from all different backgrounds into a house, supposedly cut off from the outside world with cameras placed everywhere to see how they react by living with each other. Each week one of them will be evicted by a public vote until a winner is crowned. When it first premièred, the show was one of the first on UK TV to use this method of the public influencing what happens in the house, hence the 'Who goes? You decide!' catchphrase that seems a bit tired after public voting is very, VERY commonplace these days. In the early days, it stuck rigidly to its essential format and it was an instant hit, with the public becoming hooked particularly at Nasty Nick's escapades. Indeed, it was one of Channel 4's biggest ever hit, achieving highs of 8/9m and making stars out of its housemates. In particular, one of the biggest reality TV celebrities was the late Jade Goody who managed to make millions after her appearance on the show. As the show went on, it introduced more and more twists to help spice things up and create more drama and entertaining television. After an edition which has since been named BB4 become the show's most boring series, the producers spiced things up with BB5 where Big Brother went evil. Essential TV was made following the show's first fake eviction where two housemates went to a bedsit after being 'evicted' to watch their fellow housemates every move. It led to the show's most notorious episode with FIGHT NIGHT where security had to be called in and two housemates were removed. It was this series which many see as the start of the golden period of the show as the twists helped the show remain fresh and incredibly entertaining viewing. BB7 in particular is my personal favourite and it saw one of the most loved housemates in Nikki Grahame whose diary room rants were hilarious. After this though, housemates can across too much like wannabes with BB8 in particular starring a few too many people desperate for the fame (Shabnam </3). This, matched with the inevitable tiring of a show as well as the CBB5 incident, led to a sharp fall in the show's popularity and Channel 4 decided to end it in 2010 with an special Ultimate Big Brother that saw past housemates return. However, Channel 5 became the UK's saviour by bringing it back to our screens but not without some changes. It became more cleverly edited and there was a lot more focus on younger people, with nearly every housemate being under 30. Each of the five series has been quite distinct with BB12 being about the showmances, BB13 being about two groups pitted against each other, BB14 just being perfect, BB15 just being NASTY and BB16 throwing the rule book out of the window. This latter element has actually been a theme throughout the Channel 5 series with producers trying to maintain the casual viewers interest by engineering drama and trying to secure the bigger characters safety. BB13 saw the housemates being allowed to talk about nominations from the start for the first ever time which was stopped shortly after due to it not really working with the UK format. BB14 introduced an overarching theme to the series with 'Secrets and Lies', which had essentially become the backbone of the show over time with the twists and turns. There were a couple of tweaks to the nomination aspect, paving the way for normal nominations to actually BECOME a twist in BB15 and BB16. Once an essential element of the show, it is now rare for the housemates not to nominate face-to-face, not to see their housemates nominating in the Diary Room or for some other random twist to feature. There have been a few too many twists in the latter years, as well as a complete load of outside contact available and while BB15 was awful, the other Channel 5 series have produced some great moments and it's great that the show is still even on our screens. Over 16 years, we've seen rants, romance, fights, fake evictions, a fake pregnancy and an incident with a wine bottle amongst many, many, MANY other moments and I wouldn't have it any other way. |

Tate and Inbetweeners i have seen bits of and look like really good comedy series, must check them out some time.
As for BB everyone seems to love it, I do like it, but when I really think about it I think "why do I like this?" the challenge things they do are probably the best bit about it (not to mention the Doctor Who episode of it! ) |

12. Game of Thrones • 400 points
18-16-12 No. of votes: 13, Highest score: 40 (Iz, Jaco8472) 17th April 2011 – present (5 seasons) • International TV Another TV phenomenon fares very well in this countdown with Game of Thrones continuing its climb. The show is based on a series of books by George R. R. Martin but has now got to the awkward point of actually surpassing its source material in terms of storyline. This has been helped by some diversions along the way which means that fans of the books won't have the story completely spoiled for them. ANYWAY, like The Walking Dead, the show is notorious for its potential of spoilers due to the various twists and turns and many a important character death. The show is a fantasy series exploring the competition for who will get the Crown of the Seven Kingdoms, while the White Walkers also pose a very large threat. The show is very much about power meaning there is of course plenty of deals, betrayals, fighting etc just with added dragons. As each episode passes, the huge ensemble cast grows ever more, with it estimated to have the largest ever TV ensemble cast, allowing each viewer to pick their different favourite characters, even if there is a danger behind this. It is a show that can only be described as epic and ambitious. It has a lot to do but it manages to do it very well for the most part, allowing you to never get lost in the numerous storylines that go on. Indeed, the show is quite unique as many of the characters never or rarely interact and each episode focuses on one place for about 10/15 minutes in total, unless it is a special event episode. The settings and production designs are glorious and fantastic though and really help it to achieve its epic aim. It is also helped by a fantastic opening sequence/theme tune which helps set the scene. I've never really been into fantasy like this but Game of Thrones has truly become one of my favourite shows, becoming something where I truly can't wait for each episode to be broadcast. |

11. Eastenders • 433 points
04-29-11 No. of votes: 16, Highest score: 40 (April) 19th February 1985 - present • UK TV and Soaps Just missing out on the Top 10 is Buzzjack's favourite soap, Eastenders! It is made by the BBC and quickly became one of the most popular and iconic shows. As the title suggests, it follows the lives of people living in the East End, most notably the fictional Albert Square. It plays home to some of the biggest families and characters to grace our screens including the Mitchells, the Beales, the Fowlers, the Slaters and now the Carters. The show has helped to explore some of the biggest social issues, even tackling some controversial areas to help bring more focus to them and show them for the first time on British television. This has included alcoholism, rape, domestic violence, drug abuse, racism, homophobia, cot death, prostitution, mental-health issues, euthanasia and child grooming. All these, matched with the numerous affairs and murders that often occur in soaps, have seen Eastenders being referred to as a place of misery. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger followed by the iconic duff-duffs as secrets are exposed or storylines develop. Some of the most memorable storylines include Dirty Den handing Angie divorce papers, Who Shot Phil Mitchell, the return of Dirty Den from the grave and the Max/Stacey affair. The show has also recently excelled in its anniversary storylines with Who Killed Archie Mitchell? becoming a huge talking point in 2010, with a live episode reveal. 2015 went one step further with a near year long mystery looking into Who Killed Lucy Beale? culminating in a special live week and a flashback episode. The show's run under its latest executive producer has also produced more surprises by omitting to tell the press about some of its stories and has also seen departed characters return for one off episodes. The show is a lot more gritty than its counterparts but that appears a lot more popular with you guys! Take part in the Character Rate HERE! |

Ergh. 'The Simpsons' top 10? Top 10 of the most overrated and unfunny series of all time, maybe! I was counting on Buzzjack for that one :'(
'Game Of Thrones' about where I expected. It deserves to be higher, but I'm not surprised. It's extremely love or hate. |

10. Breaking Bad • 436 points
xx-xx-10 No. of votes: 13, Highest score: 40 (Noahspike) 20th January 2008 – 29th September 2013 (5 seasons) • International TV Breaking Bad is often hailed as one of the greatest television shows of all time with it officially (according to the Guinness World Records in 2013) being the most critically-acclaimed TV show. It helped to largely pioneer a breakthrough in television drama by drastically improving the quality of it, showing the world that the best stories can be enchanced and told through the television format, rather than through film. This has meant that we're in a world absolutely full of critically-acclaimed television dramas. It also helped bring the activity of 'binge-watching' to greater prominence as it's availability on the fairly new streaming services like Netflix allowed people to watch a big chunk all in one go. This helped the show to grow hugely in popularity with its final series, more than doubling its normal ratings and the final episode got more than 7 times more viewers than the first ever episode. Many have called the show gripping but, I'm going to be honest, I'm really not that big a fan. I'm really struggling to make my way through it despite starting just less than 2 years ago oops. Anyway, the show is based around Walter, a science teacher who turns to producing meth to secure a healthy financial future for his family due to his diagnosis of lung cancer. He becomes heavily involved in the criminal world, alongside his former student Jesse, and he tries to hide his secret life from his family, in particular, his brother-in-law who is a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, trying to stop a drug producer, unaware that it is Walter. |
