80.BURN ELLIE GOULDING 941,000
Proving just what a reliable deliverer of hits he is Ryan Tedder gave this to Leona Lewis for her “Glassheart” album which she decided wasn’t good enough for her so Goulding picked it up. It became her first No 1 and helped launched the re-issued “Halcyon Days” into a million seller! |

79. RADIOACTIVE IMAGINE DRAGONS 941,000
Currently the holder of the longest stay in the Billboard top 100 (87 weeks) it didn’t do too badly here either with 60 weeks on the top 75 despite never getting higher than No 12. It will probably cross the million mark at some point in the next 12 months (with streams included) making it the second biggest non top 10 hit ever. |

78. FEEL THE LOVE RUDIMENTAL FT JOHN NEWMAN 946,000
Debut hit from Rudimental remains their best seller, it features Mr Newman who also gets his second hit on this rundown. I always thought this was their first single but it followed “Spoons” which obviously failed to chart. |

A lot of dirge but some classics along the way too! 'Pass Out' grew lots after initially hating it and it remains one of few 2010's big hits that is still really well known to this date - I still hear it lots in the clubs and it gets a huge reception each time.
'Burn' remains one of Ellie's worst. She really sold out on this track which meant it lost the charm of her earlier synth-poppy music and the whole delivery was just so weak. 'Feel the Love' was a shock #1 at the time and it continues to shock by being rather close to the million mark! It sounded so different to anything in the charts at the time so I guess it kinda set the trend for dance for the next few years. |

Burn was where Ellie took a serious nosedive into generic big-banger. That performance is so dodgy. She has such a sweet voice, she should do songs that it suits.
Feel the Love is amazing. |

“Burn” which in some typefaces looks like bum was a big disappointment, very generic and predictably a big hit. I'm very hit or miss with Ellie really, love tracks like “Figure 8” (the last of her singles to make my personal chart Top 10), “Under The Sheets” and “Lights” but of course apart from the latter these were all commercial flops.
“Feel The Love” I really enjoyed at the time, the D&B revival in 2011/2012 was very welcome and of course John Newman has a fantastic voice. That deserves to be here for sure! I can't stand Imagine Dragons, sorry. Nickelback with all-over-the-place synths and a slightly less irritating lead singer. |

Harsh but fair. It sounds really 2008 for some reason.

It's a crying shame that for all its 10 weeks at #1 and its 2000's classic status, "Umbrella" has actually sold so little.

It's a crying shame that for all its 10 weeks at #1 and its 2000's classic status, "Umbrella" has actually sold so little. That has happened to a lot of mid-00s tracks that are all time classics. All the Things She Said barely scraped 300,000 despite being one of the decade's best songs. Now 4 weeks on top would bag you at least 600,000 in the long run. |

Unfortunate though this is, Rihanna will have 4 massive songs here anyway. There are many other 2006/7 singles that were huge at the time but won't appear here like “Hips Don't Lie” which had the 2000s 2nd best of 16 weeks in the Top 10!
“Umbrella” is just outside of the Top 100 I believe with sales of approx. 860,000 (hopefully Gezza will confirm). |

77. KING YEARS & YEARS 959,000
One of the biggest hits of last year (and in my opinion one of the best) “King” announced the arrival of Years & Years in the big league. The excellent “Sunlight” and “Desire” hinted at future promise and the hits started rolling after they signed to Polydor which helped to result in winning the “BBC Sound Of” in 2015. |

76. JUST DANCE LADY GAGA 965,000
Right back to the beginning of the Gaga phenomenon with this track which launched her onto the international stage with some style. Co-written by RedOne and Akon it certainly had the credentials and coupled with the famous Gaga eye for an unusual image it saw her take advantage of the January lull to storm to the top. |

75. GRENADE BRUNO MARS 978,000
Third UK No 1 single from just 4 releases bearing his name, yes back in 2011 Mars had an enviable strike rate at writing top notch pop tunes. This release previewed his debut album “Doo Wops & Hooligans” and made the case for a popstar with the class to hang around for many years. |

Love “King”, I thought that “Just Dance” was the weakest of Lady Gaga’s early singles but it was still ok for me.
“Grenade” is woeful, and blocking “Rolling In The Deep” from number 1 is unforgivable (even though it was an epic fail for Adele who should have released it OA/OS back in December 2010) - Adele got her revenge however by having the best selling album of the 21st Century and outselling “Grenade” |

"King" is excellent, and "Shine" should have followed it at the top.
"Just Dance" is still fun though I'd rank the other The Fame singles (bar Eh Eh) above it. This post has been edited by Ne Plus Ultra: 17th February 2016, 06:45 PM |

Just Dance and Grenade are both great!
King is an absolute masterpiece and is up there with some of the best songs ever made, in my opinion. I rank it ninth best song of all-time. Shine is also one of the best songs of 2015. This post has been edited by Taylor Jago: 17th February 2016, 07:00 PM |
