14th February 2016
2 weeks on top for the gorgeous Faded, not fading at all, along with the top 4. Pet Shop Boys finally get into the Inner Sanctum of the top 10, I think only 2 PSB singles have ever failed to do that, though some album tracks pottered around lower as well. Aphrodite's Child and several Bowie's keep the oldies climbing, while the highest new entry is a buzz: Timothy Bloom and V Bozeman, a great soul duet (or r'n'b if you prefer) that hasn't even been released in the UK streaming or itunes, and there's an over-18 adult video to go along with it - or Arty, as I prefer to think of it, it's lovely if you don't have hang-ups about the beautiful human body. The edited version though is linked... In at 29, it's cult and 60's sounding Cat's Eyes with the super-hero named Chameleon Queen, it's part opera singer Rachel Zeffira, and part The Horror's Farid Badwan, and part fab. In at 30 DJ Fresh and Dizzee Rascal do what the rubbish streaming charts wouldn't allow let them do - get a bonafide top 40 entry. On UK sales they are top 20, but as it's Ministry Of Sound (as in not streamed) it's barely inside the top 75 combined chart. I bet Ministry Of Sound made more money from their sales-alone chart position last week than half the records placed higher thanks to streaming. Lower down and welcomes back to Primal Scream and James, both veterans of the early 90's, and both former chart-toppers here and nowhere else in the real-singles-sales-chart world, criminally. Enya's even more veteran, late 80's and still going strong with a second chart entry in 2016, while most-veteran of all is Rick Wakeman, once of Yes, prog rock king, album chart-topper, funny, intelligent, and loveable man, and player of many a session, including David Bowie's Life On Mars - which he did for the BBC as an instrumental following Bowie's death, and now released. So he's actually in the chart twice with the same song, yay for Rick. Most incredibly of all, I think is this his first ever entry in my singles charts solo. Now that really is 45 years overdue!!! 1 1 1 5 FADED Alan Walker featuring Iselin Solheim 510000 2 2 1 4 CRAZY FOR YOU Zonderling featuring Bishop 465000 3 3 3 5 HOME WE’LL GO (TAKE MY HAND) Steve Aoki and Walk Off The Earth 360000 4 4 1 24 QUEEN OF PEACE Florence + The Machine 2640000 5 6 5 5 7 YEARS Lukas Graham 186400 6 8 6 5 CHANGES David Bowie 238000 7 5 5 5 KEEP ME AROUND (RADIO MIX) Turin Brakes 230000 8 17 8 4 INNER SANCTUM Pet Shop Boys 100100 9 10 9 5 OH! Hi jason, Thanks for the chartchoose I haven't seen the Gaga Bowie tribute yet, it's on my Must-See list, but it's Gaga and it's Bowie so I can't see me not liking it! Glad you may chart Coldplay, that's another one I haven't seen yet - the Superbowl performance or the video. Doh! I even tried to get tickets for Coldplay's Barcelona Olympic Stadium but they'd sold out sadly, as that woulda been a nice short holiday break. I saw them back in their early days (they were good), but they got better as they went along I thought cheers! john |
