Thaks to the internet we can see just how much they have all been lying and lining their own pockets while expecting the scumbags in society to pay all taxes and paying lip service to laws and rules they don't abide by. That's just the politicians! The business cheats are also shown for what they are. Ruthless liars.
So, the question is, just how much joy has the Panama leaks brought you? I am effing ecstatic that the corrupt can no longer lie and get away with it

I also support Jezza's notion of bringing the tax havens back under UK rule and law. The logic not to do this?
"Dominic Grieve, former Conservative attorney general, said removing self governance in overseas territories was a "bit of a nuclear option" and the consequences on the people and their economy needed careful consideration. If havens in overseas territories were shut down, people would go elsewhere where there might be far fewer regulations which would encourage the money laundering and criminality we want to suppress, he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme" or to paraphrase we don't want criminals using non-UK tax havens, we want them using ours because we are less corrupt! As for local economies, most of the locals get little benefit, they pay no tax and there is no social care, infrastructure or anything else, it's reliant on donations from the filthy rich financing them for their shacks and cleaning. The tax recovered from them would more than cover social care improvements. Basically, any Tory or rich person who is not in favour of clamping down on the British tax havens MUST have cash stashed away there as there is no logic whatsoever in allowing it to continue from a UK voter perespective. We as tax payers would be better off with that cash, but the deniers think we are all basically, duuuuuhhhhh! |

From what I saw on Twitter, Vince Cable made the same suggestion about bringing tax havens under UK rule last night. Of course, that won't stop Corbyn and Labour trying to claim all the credit.

Well, we've lost the Icelandic government already after about 10% of the island turned out to protest. So that something has actually happened with this is giving me a lot of joy, may it snowball out a bit more.

Its a difficult position for him to be in as an anti-colonialist but a man who believes in a tax and spend welfare state. I believe its a morally correct position to take even if it looks foolish. For the record I agree with Corbyn over this, the overseas territories need to be given an ultimatum over whether they want direct rule or full independence. Plus it'd be great to watch the Boundary Commission squirm when asked to come up with a constituency which includes the Turks and Caicos Islands.

And now Cameron's gone to saying he did have shares in the firm, which was all but admitted anyway when they did the statement the other day saying the family wouldn't benefit from offshore shares 'in future'. The thing I don't understand at all is why he didn't just say that on day one rather than making it look like he had something to hide with five carefully worded statements over several days and dragging it all out. Catastrophically dreadful PR management on a par with MILNE!

All too often, the cover-up ends up being just as bad - if not worse - than the original offence. One of these days politicians will cotton on to that and act accordingly. I won't be holding my breath though.
Has anyone asked Boris Johnson yet whether he still thinks the story is a load of rubbish? Any news on his father's tax arrangements? |
