So, turns out, the 2010s decade (in Eurovision terms at least) is 70% done! Are there any noticable trends/improvements in quality in these songs as a group when you compare it to the previous decade?

xx Germany 2010: Lena - Satelite
xx Azerbaijan 2011: Ell & Nikki - Running Scared
xx Sweden 2012: Loreen - Euphoria
xx Denmark 2013: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops
xx Austria 2014: Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix
xx Sweden 2015: Mans Zelmerlow - Heroes
xx Ukraine 2016: Jamala - 1944

05 Azerbaijan 2011: Ell & Nikki - Running Scared
10 Sweden 2012: Loreen - Euphoria
07 Denmark 2013: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops

09 Ukraine 2016: Jamala - 1944

Bit of a mixed bag so far just like last decade, we have three amazing songs in this lot, two fairly good winners and two below average winners which is actually equal to the list of 00s winners up to this point.

The only song that shouldn't have won was Azerbaijan's. They've had much better and there were much better songs in 2011 too. But it's not a bad song, just in a year where no one was really agreeing on the winner, the most inoffensive, trickle point song won.

Euphoria is of course my favourite song here, but in terms of winning Eurovision, Conchita is by far the best winner.

If 2011 hadn't been as corrupt as fuck and Popular would have got its rightful win then blimey that's a brilliant set of songs. Only Teardrops and Heroes don't *quite* measure up to the standard of all the others but in context of their years then they all make sense.

Oops at me apparently being the sole big fan of Running Scared. I mean it probably shouldn't have own, but it's a very good song in its own right.

07.5 Azerbaijan 2011: Ell & Nikki - Running Scared
09.5 Sweden 2012: Loreen - Euphoria
09.0 Denmark 2013: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops
10.0 Austria 2014: Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix
10.0 Sweden 2015: Mans Zelmerlow - Heroes
04.0 Ukraine 2016: Jamala - 1944

I think Running Scared is good aswell, John, the live version didn't do justice for what is actually a very solid track. 1944 would be the first winner I haven't liked since Molitva. But I didn't care for Fairytale either. But 'Sound Of Silence' would've meant 5 years in a row with a winner 9/10 or better </3

Oh I can quite like it if I'm in the right mood. I think it's just been tarnished by winning by default in a weak year and nearly every other Azeri entry being better. I do tend space out my rate scores a bit lately so as to not have the whole thing be 7-8s.

Only Teardrops is probablymy favourite winner ever, I still listen to it loads heart.gif Though this year's winner could be rivalling that soon!

I've liked all of the winners which is surprising, Running Scared was a sweet song itself, it's just they couldn't sing...

I'd count Satellite, Euphoria and Heroes among my all time favourites...comparing that to 2000-2006 this lot are preferable, though I loved Fly On The Wings Of Love, Everybody (someone had to), Wild Dances and My Number One.

09.5 Germany 2010: Lena - Satelite
06.5 Azerbaijan 2011: Ell & Nikki - Running Scared (not horrendous just a bit of a bland wtf winner)
11 Sweden 2012: Loreen - Euphoria
10 Denmark 2013: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops
10 Austria 2014: Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix
07 Sweden 2015: Mans Zelmerlow - Heroes (this is ridiculously overrated, I don't think I've listened to it since like a month after the contest out of choice!!!)
10 Ukraine 2016: Jamala - 1944 (for the statement, power and emotion, this is a fabulous winner, in a similar but "lesser" way to Conchita winning as a drag queen)

A great set overall, none I dislike, I just don't care too much for Heroes or Running Scared.

Running Scared gets too much hate, it's very sweet and cute and sounded like a winner to me when it was unveiled. I'd say I only prefer Always out of the Azeri entries. Yes Popular was better but Italy came 2nd and thank god THAT didn't win.

Heroes sounds better these days, I love the performance of it with the kids and the short clips that have been used during rehearsal videos and the like.
