I expected GRGS to snag this easily, so nice to see a good variety here. I'm always surprised at how well liked Wildfire ended up being in the long run. I don't remember people caring so much about it when it first came out. I do think it's aged well.

808 would have been a huge opener for The Finest Selection, the live performances would have gone down so well, the radios would have loved it, it would have got a Angel Haze remix, I feel top 10 and Silver/Gold for sure.

I really like 808 and if they did a 2nd single from the GH, it would've been perfect. However, as a lead single, it would've done no better than WAYWF?, radios would have snubbed them even if they released Uptown Funk lol. WAYWF? gets a hard time just cause it flopped

Honestly, had the ninth vote been counted for 808 (which the missing vote was an honest mistake), I would've removed it from my own personal list of nominations putting it back at eight. I was tempted to leave it off my list to begin with. It's just not as good as people act like it is and sounds like a desperate attempt at recreating What About Us with none of the originality or charm.

808 whilst an OK... song is far too busy with too poor production. Oh it would have been so different Angle Hazy would have been on a remix. How she would have lifted I am baffled, considering her highest charting single is 58 and her own single release in 2014 reached the dizzy height of 70 despite featuring Sia. It would have not fared much better as 808 (Featuring some woman no one knows or cares about).
Radio basically ignored Not Giving Up, which was one their best singles, so unless their lead single for Finest Selection was a game changer that couldn't be ignored, radio were never going to play it. |
