I've heard that Maty Noyes song and it sounds like a hit!

This one just got a music video, perhaps it'll get pushed in the new year. Bigg house tune.

Lushington - You Got Me Baby

Currently #213 on UK iTunes too.

Hopefully the Oliver Heldens and Ida Corr - Good Life song can be a hit and start a revival of the mid 00s dance sound (style of production wise its a bit like Borderline by Michael Gray).

I doubt it will be a hit though.

Another possible hit? Weird video but this gives a flashback to 70's disco! music.gif

Again yes this is a great funky house tune, production wise very mid 00s too, a bit like the Freemasons for the chorus.

That Sia remix is a desecration of one of her career highs. So naturally the UK will lap it up laugh.gif

I'd love Lushington to be a hit, what a tune!

I can't see them not going for 'Move Your Body' remix if they pluck another single, they wouldn't get Alan Walker in to remix it for nothing. I'll still be so sad if 'Broken Glass' never sees the light of day. It's just TOO epic.

This time last year, the likes of All My Friends, Light It Up, When The Bassline Drops and Dessert were all being premiered alongside future Spotify hits that were gaining momentum such as Don't. So it's likely some big early 2017 songs have already been premiered, although I can't think of too many. Maybe some like, although all below Tom Zanetti are pretty optimistic:

Tom Zanetti - You Want Me (sounds perfect for winter)
Dave - Wanna Know (Remix feat. Drake)
Donae'o feat. JME & Dizzee Rascal - Black
Young M.A - Ooouu (big American sleeper rap hit)

Dizzee Rascal will be 2017's Craig David figure, playing on people's nostalgia and making commercially viable grime in the same way Craig David did for Garage. Hopefully he won't do his pop-rap stuff instead. Sean Paul will be everywhere for at least a few months, although he's already approaching peak saturation. Look out for the likes of Lady Leshurr and Anderson .Paak next year too, two artists I feel will get a big breakthrough hit.

Anderson .Paak could be the next Weeknd if he choses to go down that route, I wouldn't say he's had a majorly commercial single just yet. As for Lady Leshurr she was only signed this year and 'Where Are You Now' was obviously her first attempt at a chart hit. Artists like Anne-Marie or M.O. didn't breakthrough straight away so it's worth waiting to see what she puts out next.

Oh god memories of Dessert, easily the worst song of 2016 imo.

For nostalgia hopefully one of the bubbling under 00s style funky house records (Would I Lie To You, Just Say, the Heldens Ida Corr collab or Money Maker will be a hit)

We are due some 00s nostalgia so if either Shapeshifters style funky house , trance or eurodance inspired stuff like the Move Your Body track (as someone else said a bit Eiffel 65 reminiscent of their own track Move Your Body for the chorus) it would be very welcome.

In terms of Dizzee and grimepop I dont think there is much yearning to go back to 2009 style grimepop but I may be wrong. Personally I prefer less poppy grime like Where Are You Now.

I was thinking more 'Boy In Da Corner' grime actually.

We have already had a proper grime boom this mid decade from Stormzy and Lethal Bizzle who both made the charts.

As you said Lady Leshurr is becoming popular too, Where Are You Now with Wiley was excellent and should have done better in the charts.

Can we actually go back to having more than an average of three new entries a week so we can get more songs making the top 40 and more hits. Is there any chance the chart going to speed up a bit in 2017?

I'm afraid they're probably only ever going to get slower at the current rate. We still might get the odd week with a decent chunk of new entries but that'll probably be down to several just sneaking into the top 40 after climbing all the same week rather than a load of new releases all debuting high.

I dont mind whether they debut high or low I just think we need more in the top 40 for the whole year in general than we have had in 2016.

Such a vibrant chart there was in the past if you go on to the Official Chart Archive and go through all the weeks for any year from 2000-2007 or 2009-early 2015....loads of tracks to choose as your favourite top 40 entry of the year and I miss that.
