It just says it all about 2016 being completely f***ed that we are even debating the possibility that someone like Donald Trump could be president manson.gif

I actually feel like we're going back in time with Brexit and now the possibility of Trump being in power. Like what has happened to humanity???

I know it's controversial but maybe stupid uneducated people shouldn't be able to vote.

I do agree that Hillary isn't anywhere near as amazing that she's made out to be on here (kind of like how the EU is overpraised on here even though the vote should have certainly been remain) but I don't see how anyone can see Trump as a viable candidate/President.

I'm going in with a pessimistic mind like I did with Brexit though so I can at least try to prepare myself for the shitstorm that would happen and I think Trump will get it.

I was thinking the same thing recently.

An educated voter who votes against the EU as Te Sun told them they regulate bananas too much has the same voice as someone who hs studied economics extensively and gets his data feom um more reliable sources.

An IQ test and a knowledge test of recent issues wouldn't be unwelcome for me personally right now.

Aaaaand this is how rich right-wingers turn poor people against their own interests and the 'snobbish metropolitan liberal elite'.

(granted, guilty on occasion)

Saying uneducated people don't get a vote is going back further in time as well. It's a fundamental principle of democracy that everyone should be allowed to vote. The uneducated people are as much affected by what the government decides as educated people, and it's ridiculous to suggest they shouldn't be allowed to purely because they don't hold your opinion.

The problem is deeper than "uneducated", anyway, I'd go with unintelligent, rather than uneducated, as you can be without formal education and still know what's the what.

It is things like the mainstream news sources that are the root of so much of the mislead votes, too many of which are too far pointed to the right.

Many educated people voted for Brexit and will vote for Trump, completely sucks but that's the way it is. I regularly get completely aggravated by the electorate but the solution isn't restricting or limiting the voting franchise, every vote should count equally, the "sun reader" and the "economics student" should have the same say, as the politics will affect them both as equally! If we're thinking about solutions we should try preventing voter apathy more mellow.gif

Well, in a week from now we'll (probably) know who's going to be the most powerful person on Earth for 4 years, so hopefully it will mean the end of this nightmare. Or it will be the beginning.

You may have an opinion, but there's some pretentious stuff being said in this thread.

Can you elaborate on what you see as pretentious?

Saying uneducated people shouldn't have the vote, IQ tests etc... it can just as easily be said that idealistic students have one agenda and are all-knowing without any real life experience. But that's equally as wrong as slagging off half the population because they don't agree with you.

Oh yes, I do agree there, which is why I said above that there's a big difference between being educated and actually knowing what's going on.

So you think we should stop people from voting if it gets your (and mine) favoured result?

No, Jeb has forever been tarnished by 'low energy' and the 'please clap' vid, which is why Trump tried to use same attack on Hills.

Hmm funny now that the election is closer it isn't rigged anymore rolleyes.gif

Odious man.
