I know that Grime or UK Rap isn't particularly popular here, but the scene is undeniably brimming with talent and top tunes right now! This is reflected in the BBC Sound of 2017 list and the popularity of the genre over on 1Xtra. Probably best to keep this all in one thread, so feel free to post your favourite songs, upcoming artists and any surprise discoveries you find! I'll post a few songs that are popping off right now to get this started...

New single from Lethal Bizzle featuring Giggs and produced by The Heavytrackerz (German Whip, Not That Deep, We Run The Block). Sounds strong, although I'm never too sure whether to take Lethal Bizzle seriously. A Devlin and Maverick Sabre collaboration would have been so well received by the mainstream in say 2012! No chance of charting, but I really like the chorus to this. |

WSTRN have remixed Yxng Bane's 2016 street anthem 'Fine Wine'. So melodic and could take the song to a wider audience! |

Dun Talkin, Liar Liar, Addison Lee, Can't Go Wrong & 6 In The Bloodclart Morning are five of my UK rap faves right now! The latter two are from Wiley's new album, definitely worth a spin. Dun Talkin and Liar Liar are two perfect examples of why the Afrobeat/Dancehall scene could be about to BLOW UP.

Three big releases last Friday...
Stefflon Don - Real Ting (Giggs Remix) Giggs remix of Stefflon Don's 'Real Ting', one of the biggest crossover songs from the scene right now! Dave x J Hus - Samantha Two of the most exciting artists around collaborate on melodic 'Samantha', wouldn't sound of place on mainstream radio! Went Top 100 on iTunes upon release and did well on Spotify too. Ghetts ft. Shakka - Know My Ting If this doesn't become a club staple, I'll be amazed... hook laden chorus from Shakka and Ghetts' pre chorus too. Club ready beat too, should sit well on the 1Xtra playlist. |

Dun Talkin and Liar Liar are two perfect examples of why the Afrobeat/Dancehall scene could be about to BLOW UP. The first four songs there are all anthems! Haven't heard the whole Wiley album yet, but Can't Go Wrong, U Were Always & Speakerbox are three great single choices. Addison Lee is so smooth too. Dun Talkin' is one my favourite songs released this winter, so anthemic and goes off in the clubs. Liar Liar is a banger as well, I like the J Hus/Krept & Konan remix of that too. If you like songs like Dun Talkin' and Liar Liar, I would recommend these (if you haven't already heard them): Ynxg Bane ft. Kojo Funds - Fine Wine Kojo Funds - My 9ine Mostack - Block Popping Mostack ft. Moelogo - Murder |
