I guess the one thing they have got right is that this is released Mothers Day week (Although to really capitalise on MD sales they probably should have kept with the original date).
At present this feels like a 1-7-9-18-33... kinda release for me |

As a Gary fan, i partially feel he has too many pots boiling on the cooker at the one time and unfortunately it is negatively impacting on Take That. I fully understand, he can only be in 1 place at a time but i think at this particular time Take That should be the priority. There is a feeling that this album will be released and left to promote itself as they dont appear to have the time to do otherwise.
I would have much preferred if they held back the album until they were ready to promote it as with how it is looking the album wont get the attention it may deserve. The handling of Giants indicates how this era may possibly be handled. |

Ouch - Just tweeted by Howard in response to a tweet about the new LIS musical
QUOTE Just to clarify, it's take that's new musical and not just Gary Barlow's!!!

Yes the lack of promo elsewhere (outside of let it shine) is strange really. I agree that Gary is possibly spreading himself too thinly at the moment - and that it would be best to delay the album release until it can be given everyone's undivided attention.
Leaving it to promote itself when your album sales have begun to decline is a big mistake in my opinion. As has been mentioned before they went to the whole trouble of 2 CDs for Giants, exclusive b-sides and a signed bundle... and then done pretty much nothing to back it up. Such a waste! |

Worse than expected, #72 in today's mids! We could be looking at 13-98 chart run!

Even the promo for Mark's "The Art of Doing Nothing" was more visible than the Wonderland campaign (so far).
I remember they faffed around with the release date of Stars and there weren't any exclusive b-sides but at least Mark got to sing the lead single on the one show and Alan Carr. Oh well, hopefully there will be a 2nd single to coincide with the album release which will totally smash it. (I'm not going to hold my breath though!) |

A bit of an overreaction from Howard. When there was the whole tax scandal and the media were trashing only Gary, he didn't hurry up to say "it's actually TT's scandal".
I can understand that it's unpleasant when the press doesn't report facts objectively, but what if Tim Firth had reacted the same way, when everyone was referring to The Girls as Gary's musical? It's a bit unprofessional and it gives the impression he has something against Gary. This post has been edited by milly: 27th February 2017, 06:56 PM |

Awful week 2 performance, and the position will get worse at the week progresses.

The drop was to be expected. The song isn't doing so bad on iTunes, but the streaming and lack of promotion are killing it.

Streaming is ridiculous, it just cannabilises the chart and weights it towards the younger generation artists.
Chart run looks to be a shocker, I can't for the life of me understand why they haven't performed it once since release. Thankfully they got the physical right. I fear that could be the only thing that does go right for them this era unless the plan is to release a second single the week before the album and throw a tonne of promo at it that they would have 'used up' with Giants... |

I would welcome the release of the cd format for future singles. That said,i wonder how many cd singles were issued and are many left unsold.

It looks like they all sold out and had to run a new batch...but can't see the demand being there again for signed CDs of the second single

^^Agree - I think outside of a lead single there is only a small market for CD singles in the TT fa base.
I know it offered nothing new but we had a CDS for 'Let In The Sun' which didn't shift enough to help it make Top 100 officially. |

they may indeed throw all the pomo into the second single. I cannot imagine that TT and their management would assume that a single only sells by name these days if you are not Adele or Ed. The second single might be the real deal

I would assume at this stage of their career, they know a hit single needs to be promoted and won’t just become a hit. Promotion, now, is more important than ever. As time progresses they appear to promote less and less. Maybe they release music for their own satisfaction now and the fans and aren’t hugely interested in success as they have achieved so much. They either think this, or they have no clue what they are doing.

It is most likely Giants will not appear in the top 75 this week. This in itself is so disappointing, but it will be more disappointing if it departs the top 100.

"Giants" is #92 on the charts this week (#39 based on sales only). Streaming is killing them big time.
