I just hope Galway Girl gets to #1 now, 12 weeks for Shape of you is long enough. I know 500 units is peanuts, but it could stretch as the week goes on. I'm cheering on Shape Of You of the two but preferably Clean Bandit would make it (but they won't). Harry Styles will easily wrap it up next week if the hype is to be believed. |

To be honest I would prefer Clean Bandit as well but that is not going to happen as it would be its last chance to get there before Harry Styles wrap it up next week, if the track gets a lot of hype. Even if its only a week for Galway Girl, at least the track won't stick around any longer than a week. |

Do we think Harry Styles will do well then? Isn't it a bit like when the Spice Girls went solo, the further and later of the girls to release something the less success they got.
Louis and Niall didn't zoom in at #1. |

Louis and Niall didn't zoom in at #1. I think he'll breeze to #1 going by what we know so far. Most popular member, a TV ad for the song already (a la Adele - Hello), loads of hype, instantly high airplay from Capital and probably Radio 1, and declining sales for the #1 making it easier to overtake. I'd be pretty surprised if he missed #1 unless the song turns out to be a total dud, which doesn't seem to be the case going by those who've heard it already! |

I think Harry Styles could go either way, as individually they have their own music styles, at the moment I wouldn't rule it out, and that coming's from someone that doesn't like One Direction full stop.

The Voice seems like a really odd show format. With only 4 or 5 live shows, how can they possibly expect people to get invested in acts? Have any Voice acts in the UK ever charted particularly well? I know it's a bigger thing in the US somehow. The only one I can think of is Becky Hill and she wasn't even a winner or a finalist IIRC. Stevie McCrorie (2015 winner) charted at #6 with his winners single. You only see the BGT winners/finalists three times in the whole competition. Yet Susan Boyle and Paul Potts sold really well, but they had a big story surrounding them too. Even Collabro, Richard and Adam, Faryl Smith and others have done well. |

I think the opening is most certainly there now for Harry Styles to get number 1, the sales are so low that he really could do it.
Based on this, it would mean Ed Sheeran has no chance of beating Bryan Adams 16 weeks at number 1 record, with that record off the cards i would welcome Galway Girl climbing to number 1 this week as i would like ED to have another number 1 and Galway Girl is Wonderful. I am relieved with the performance of Take That Wonderland, top 5 looks very safe for this week which puts it in for a good position next week if the audience with show goes down well when aired, i also welcome seeing the Ultimate Collection still in a top 30 position for them. Wonderful to see Nelly Furtado start the week in the top 75 but sadly i fear she will fall as the week moves on and could miss the top 100. I think Rag N Bone Man will take the album number 2 this week from looking at the sales gap. In the singles i am delighted to see Little Mix No More Sad Songs finally start to move up to hopefully become another top 20 hit for them. I expected Louisa Johnson to be doing much better after her Saturday Night Take Away performance. This post has been edited by pippa: 3rd April 2017, 06:54 PM |

Next week could be the first time that Divide dips below 100k paid for sales

Looks like ANOTHER week for SOY!
Ed sales falling a bit in the albums, should ease past 100k again. Rag n Boneman heading for 30k and no2! |

Clean Bandit most certainly still have a chance. Sure I expect Harry will breeze to #1 but what after the week after? Can see it being extremely frontloaded & pulling a Pillowtalk allowing Symphony a genuine chance the week after when its streaming is even better.

PILLOWTALK's sales actually didn't hold up that badly in week 1! 112k week 1, 82k in week 2, sure it was a decline but if Harry does the same, I expect he'll probably still quite nicely clinch a second week at #1. Zayn was ~9k ahead of #3 in his second week too, it's just that 7 Years blew up rapidly! |

Fair point, I'll guess we'll just have to wait & see what the song actually sounds like.
Either way it's about time someone else got a turn at the top, can't have Ed beating Drake now! |

I'm not saying I disagree with your general point, but sure the people who've been allowed to hear it so far will be the people who wouldn't say it was a dud anyway? |
