BBC 2 Bake off Creme de la Creme

Angus Deayton Laura, looks like he's back in favour again with the BBC , can you remember why they fired him. I like Angus, he has a wry sense of humour

We turned it over and watched BroadChurch on catchup Tess. I think I might have seen enough Bakeoffs/Pottery Throws/ Sewing Bees/ Carpentry for Beginners programmes to last me a life time. dry.gif

I couldn't tell if Angus Deayton was being sarcastic in his commentary of whether he was a real crème patisserie type of guy. laugh.gif

Hey that's cool - I type crème and I get an accent over the e cool.gif

In French, that accent is called an 'accent grave'....why? who knows what lurks in the minds of the French language police... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

That's something I somehow amazingly remember from my 4 years of French classes in high school here in the US....

You're correct, yes, about the accent acute going the other way over an e....as in é. then there's the ç as in ça va or français....called a cedilla....my first year of French classes was in the 1978/79 school year as well...gads, now I'm REALLY dating myself... drama.gif drama.gif

That's completely different from what I was expecting. Good for him for doing something different. cool.gif

I can see why there were Bowie and Robbie comparisons.

Thought Warren Beatty looked terrific on Graham Norton show last night, no facial work done there, all natural , his wife Annette Bening is also fabulous

When he was young - I used to think Warren Beatty was gorgeous. wub.gif

When I saw him again on Graham Norton last Friday - even though now he is an old man of 80 - he still had that lovely soft voice and he was still very charming and obviously a smart, intelligent man.

Sometimes - although physical beauty fades, the inside remains beautiful.

When you look at photos of him in his prime - he could put a lot of the youngsters of today firmly in the shade. wink.gif

He was very good looking when he was young, he still looks good & seems comfortable in his skin

My theory is balaclava man is Jimmy Lakewell the solicitor. Ros Hartley is having an affair with him and her husband is totally innocent. What do you think Tess?. I'm loving the series but her coming out of hospital so soon following an amputation, MRSA and septic shock was totally unbelievable laugh.gif still my favourite programme in tv at the mo though. cool.gif

Watched Trump The first 100 Days tonight. It was quite interesting.

Nothing we haven't already seen but interesting just the same.

Then on Radio London this morning they were talking about the new guy in France - Macron.

He's like Trump (not politically) but as in new to politics. No political experience.

There seems to be a move away from "old school" politicians all over the world. I've no idea whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. unsure.gif

At least in the French election the candidates are complete opposites so there is a clear choice to make.

Did you know Macron married his schoolteacher , how romantic angel.gif

I was out to dinner last night with some friends from the United States whi had varying thoughts on Trump, some for , some against , all seem to be geographical really , those nearer the Mexican border & N Yorkers were pro whilst others seemed to be terrified , the discussion was all very hush hush though which made me think that it's still a hot potato in the US

Old is safe Laura , with the new you have no idea what you get but maybe things do need shaking up, they certainly do in this country as we have the same folk being rolled out election after election but who wants to be a politician, I know I don't
