Shakira's Official Top 10 biggest singles revealed
25 May 2017 | By Rob Copsey

Her hips don't lie, and neither do our sales figures.

Shakira has held the Queen of Latin Pop title for over 15 years, since the release of Laundry Service - the album that turned her into a global star after a decade dominating the Latin markets.

Since then, she's released a further three English records, and more recently, the streaming era has opened up her popular Spanish cuts to a UK audience.

To celebrate the release of her 11th album El Dorado, and to get us in the summer spirit, we're revealing which are officially her biggest tracks to date. First up, let's take a look at some notable entries...

She Wolf

A-WOO! The lead single from Shakira's third English album of the same name was a near-perfect balance infectious hooks and her signature eccentric lyrics - find us someone can't relate to the line, "I'm starting to feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office"!

The result was a hit on the Official Chart, peaking at Number 4 in 2009 - one of six Top 10 hits for the singer. To date it's sold 354,000 and places fifth in her UK best sellers list. She Wolf has also been streamed 3.2 million times since records began in 2014.

Waka Waka

Released as the theme song for the 2010 World Cup, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) may have only reached Number 21 in the UK, but it actually boasts the second longest chart run of Shakira's singles in the UK at 33 weeks in the Top 100. It's total sales to date are 412,000, while its streaming count is currently 8.7 million plays.

Beautiful Liar

Beyonce Beyonce, Shakira Shakira... Beautiful Liar is Shakira's most recent Number 1 in the UK, topping the Official Chart for three weeks in 2007. It's her third biggest seller with 447,000 sales, plus 5.1 million streams.

Whenever Wherever

The song that put Shakira on the global stage, Whenever Wherever's quena flute intro, pan pipe-lead chorus and lyrics about her small and humble breasts make it Latin-pop at is most beautifully bonkers. With 763,000 sales and 9.6 million streams under its belt, it's the star's second biggest single.

Chantaje

Spanish language singles have a history of not performing well in the UK (Justin Bieber-assisted songs aside), meaning the lead single from Shakira's new album hasn't been given much of a push in the UK. Which is shame, because it's considered by many as one of her stronger releases in recent years. It's already her fifth most streamed song in the UK, with 6.6 million plays so far.

Hips Don't Lie

Undeniably Shakira's best-known song, Hips Don't Lie dominated the summer of 2006, logging five weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, famously denying Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man the top spot one week. It's both her best-selling and most streamed song, with 792,000 sales and 20.3 million streams.

'Hips Don't Lie' is an all-time favourite and 'Whenever Wherever' is her second best song, so a PERFECT set of top 2 biggest-sellers! *.*

'Chantaje' top 5 in her most streamed already! ohmy.gif

Chantaje more streamed already than the 10-year-old and Beyonce-assisted Beautiful Liar? Wow, impressive.

Although I wonder if this list is counting the Freemasons remix of BL which was I think the version that was really popular at the time.

All versions will be combined! Although I wouldn't say the Freemasons remix was more popular, I mean I didn't follow the charts particularly closely at the time but the original was all over the music channels (someone could perhaps clarify that though!)

Chantaje has the benefit of being released in the streaming era of course, plus the fact it's been huuuuge in Spanish-speaking countries!

I'm surprised Beautiful Liar has that many streams considering its Spotify plays suck (for Beyoncé's standards).

The Freemasons remix was very popular and was what always got played on Radio 1. I always preferred the original though.
