Afternoon all looking forward to seeing where 'Power' has landed in today's show!
Thoughts this week from the retro charts: - Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners entering the top 10! Last year really wasn't the greatest for commercial dance music but this is one of a handful of exceptions that have really stuck with me. The production of 'This Girl' is just so huge and infectious *.* one of the songs of the summer last year. - WHAT a 2012 top 3 *.* I vividly remember 'Feel The Love' being at the top of iTunes and being like... eh, what's this? Presumably as this was the first time I had seen the names Rudimental and John Newman. A quick listen told me that it's that song that was being spammed a bit on Radio 1 at the time! Immense dance song anyway, Rudimental have still not topped it for me. 'Euphoria' of course wonderful too, it was amazing to see a Eurovision entry properly blowing up in the chart in recent times! - Omg the pure NOSTALGIA of the 2007 chart!! 'Here (In My Arms)' is firmly in my top 10 songs of all-time 'The Girls' was a brilliant new entry to the top 10 that week too, a severely underrated Calvin Harris song, it's in my top 5 of his! Memories of that Eastenders advert welcoming Roxy and Ronnie to the show with it in the background being spammed on TV at the time - No particularly great new entries from the 2002 and 1997 retros but gotta show some love for 'Kiss Kiss', 'Closer Than Close' and 'You're Not Alone' as I haven't commented on the retros in a while and they're all fabulous. |

5 years since Rudimental and Loreen, wow! was amazing seeing both songs surpass expectations.
rooting for Liar Liar to make this week's top 3 and hopefully Ariana to scrape in the top 10 though I think she'll just miss it. (and I didn't even realise it's been a whole year since 'This Girl'! my personal song of the summer 2016 and favourite song of that year) |

Nick Jonas feat. Anne-Marie & Mike Posner Remember I Told You - Information Release date: 26-05-2017 Format: digital single Label: Island Records Chart sales: - Sales only chart peak: - Streaming only chart peak: - Video Biography Nicholas Jerry Jonas (born September 16, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and actor. Jonas began acting in theater at the age of seven, and released his debut single in 2002. He released his eponymous debut album in 2004 to little success, though it did catch the attention of Columbia Records. Jonas opted to form a band with his older brothers, Joe and Kevin, known as the Jonas Brothers. The group released their debut studio album It's About Time through Columbia Records. The record failed to achieve commercial success, thus the group parted ways with their label. Their self-titled second studio album was released through Hollywood Records in 2007, and became their breakthrough record. The band became prominent figures on the Disney Channel during this time, gaining a large following through the network. The band starred in the widely successful film Camp Rock (2008). The release of the band's third studio album, A Little Bit Longer (2008), helped the band achieve further success; the album's lead single hit the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The release of their fourth studio album saw a decline in sales for the band, though was still fairly successful. Jonas and his brothers starred in the Disney Channel series JONAS in 2009 and 2010, though poor ratings led to its cancellation in 2010. It was later confirmed that the Jonas Brothers would be taking a hiatus, with Nick forming a new band known as Nick Jonas & the Administration. The band released one studio album in 2010, though it failed to achieve much commercial success. Following the release, Jonas opted to focus on work in theater, and also had a recurring role on the television series Smash. The Jonas Brothers briefly reunited in 2013, though officially parted ways due to creative differences. Jonas decided to return to his solo music career following the band's disbandment, and began work on his second studio album. He signed with Island Records, releasing Nick Jonas (2014) through the label. The album entered the top ten of the Billboard 200, while both of the album's singles entered the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100. The project was re-released as Nick Jonas X2 in 2015. The release helped provide Jonas with a new public image, earning him the title of a "sex symbol". Jonas later co-founded Safehouse Records, a record label in conjunction with Island Records and Hollywood Records. Jonas released his third studio album, Last Year Was Complicated (2016), through the label. The project became his highest peaking entry as a solo artist on the Billboard 200, while the lead single was a top twenty hit on the Billboard Hot 100. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History Nick Jonas 2010 51 Introducing Me -OST- 2015 02 Jealous -1- 2015 79 Chains -2- 2015 46 Levels -3- 2016 25 Close (Nick Jonas feat. shame for Nick Jonas that he seemingly won't even make the top 100 this week, it's a decent song. I just can't see it really taking off.

Interested to see what they'll do with Liar Liar... feels a bit off for them to not play it. Coming down on one side over the other isn't being non-partisan.

I really hope Carly Rae Jepsen manages to climb into the top 5 at least with this new single upon promotion - it's another perfect pop song from her.
Didn't realise Nick Jonas had a new single out! |

They won't be playing Liar Liar, the BBC confirmed that earlier in the week, due to the "impartiality rules". Understandable really, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

They've already said they wouldn't be playing the song, they aren't allowed to play political songs during election season as they have to remain impartial. |

I think there would be a lot more backlash if the BBC did decide to play the song, so they've made the right decision. I just hope they actually mention the song and why it's in the chart instead of just skipping over it entirely. |

Hmm yeah I guess it being election season would change things.
edit: yeah. I also hope they explain it even if they aren't playing it. They should at least be able to say that some people have views This post has been edited by 360Jupiter: Jun 2 2017, 02:42 PM |

They'll probably do what they did with Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.
The fact its going to be top 5 (well going by how far ahead it was on sales on Kworb for the week) will generate a fair bit of news. Now if only people vote accordingly come next Thursday |

Surely being impartial is to play it tho? If they're showing they disagree with anti-Conservative media, doesn't that reflect bias? Just saying that considering BBC is meant to reflect the voice of the people of Britain, they should play whatever's in the charts, because it's the choice of the public, not them.

Just saying that considering BBC is meant to reflect the voice of the people of Britain, they should play whatever's in the charts, because it's the choice of the public, not them. Playing it could suggest that they support it, and the BBC need to remain impartial (whether they do or not in their news coverage is up for debate but this is separate). They'd get a lot of backlash from others if they did play it and broke the impartiality rules I think. |
