was thinking that the UK/world love for Spanish music seems to go in 15 year-cycles
 in the late 80s (87-88) we had La Bamba, Madonna singing in Spanish (La Isla Bonita, Who's That Girl), Gloria Estefan then in the early 00s we have the big worldwide explosion of Latin music with Shakira, Enrique, JLo, Ricky Martin... and now it seems to be happening again

Okay about Reggaeton Lento & Subeme, but I don't get why some people are Dragging Mi Gente into this as well. Yes it's foreign language, but it's a completely different genre and has become a hit in its own right without any of this 'bandwagon' business

Mi Gente isn't part of the same bandwagon per se as it would have been a huge and completely unconnected global hit (probably everywhere but the UK) without Despacito ever happening, but certainly UK radio and consumers have probably been more likely to support/consume it thanks to Despacito opening the floodgates.
