Starting to see the trailer for this a lot at the cinema now and I'm becoming pretty hyped for it - the lead girl looks really good in the role and I like a lot of female rappers so it definitely appeals to me.

Anyone else at all excited for this?

A decent little film and definitely one I would enjoy watching again. Some moments are definitely a bit weird and the film is often a bit unfocused as well as being a little predictable (like the final scene where one second you're getting bottles thrown at you on stage and by halfway through the first verse, the crowd are going wild for it laugh.gif) but there is certainty plenty of good stuff to look past that. Danielle Macdonald was fantastic in the title role and I'm hoping this will be a star-making turn for her. Bridget Everett was also really impressive as the mum, one of the most irritating and unlikable characters I've seen in a movie this year yet it still manages to tug at your heartstrings when you realise that it's her song being used in the final performance at the talent competition. Some of the raps and lyrics were fireeee too, not gonna lie, I'd listen to some of these if they were released as proper songs! music.gif

Having not the seen the film, I'm not sure if they all appear but there is a soundtrack available here.

Definitely want to see it though!

Thanks for this, Lewis! I wasn't aware that this had actually been released ohmy.gif

"Tuff Love" is an absolute bop and such a moment in the film, adding that to my main playlist cheer.gif

Yes Tough Love was a goodie, and I enjoyed the film - OK the quest for stardom from poverty isn't original as a plot device, but ti was a good cast, good script, and and good overall - it made me want to get into record-producing DIY-style! If only it was easy as that! 6/10 almost a 7/10
