One last thread idea I was going to leave to a quiet time in the forum but I might as well do it now as the Darius forum is going. Some questions.
What has been your favourite phase of Darius career? Do you prefer his earlier music career, his stint in Popstar to Operastar, his swing era or his musical theatre phase he is in at the minute? Which of Darius' two albums is your favourite? Which Darius song is your favourite? My answers: Personally my favourite phase of Darius' career was the first album, producing two very good hit singles, Rushes and Colourblind. I like Darius' swing era too, particularly his original songs. My favourite album is Dive In and my favourite of his songs is Rushes, closely followed by Bada Boom Bada Bing. I loved helping with promotions in the early days of the 'street team'
Traveling around the country to different venues, meeting new people. The Dive In period was special. However I prefered the Live Twice album. As for favourite song, hmm not sure I can pick just one. I was not as keen with the swing/jazz period. I have enjoyed some covers he has done, especially the Matt Monroe ones. His voice is perfect for them. The best musical he did was Gone with the Wind. He was a fabulous Rhett. I wish the writer had spent more time on the Rhett and Scarlett story and less trying to be politically correct. It would probably have been a hit. Every musical he has been in I have enjoyed and look forward to more. This post has been edited by SpamFritter: Sep 1 2017, 09:03 PM |

Didn't know you helped out with Darius promotion, SpamFritter!
I much prefer Darius releasing music than doing musicals tbh. He would still possibly get airplay on Radio 2 if he was to release a good single. I agree his swing covers are a bit cheesy and swing covers have been done before so much by many former pop artists like Robbie Williams (who I really didn't like doing swing covers either). However his original song Bada Bing Bada Boom is excellent (I am still remixing that at the minute), as is 'Jack'. Btw i found a YouTube (or U-Tube as Julia W calls it ) channel with loads of Darius performances on it. Its called meghamtoo, I wonder whose YouTube channel that is! Hi Spam Fritter-I lost my reply.I will reply tomorrow
Mean time, would you keep in touch with me about the move and please teach me how to access and use the Retro forum (Baby talk preferred! ) In my head tonight,I can't get that song 'No More' out of my head. I loved it and wish he could have found a waye to get it out . Yes I thought Badear Bing was great too, when I went to b.b. show, and the other new song would have been a great addition to a bond film. Thatmust have been exciting for you, back then, to be one of the 'promo' team.Wonder if you were present on the video shown of you all round a large table with Darius at top?! Let's hope we still get all the news on this other format and keep each other informed of any t.v. appearances and news. Meantime, all I can think to say to the 'high heid yins'of this forum is "Farewell" "Partington is such sweet sorrow". |

Glad to see you are back to the forum, eden, haven't seen you in a few days, and coming to our new home in the retro forum. Hopefully Julia W will come as well! One reason I like Bada Boom Bada Bing is because of the dance music influence in the instrumentation of the chorus. Closest thing a Darius song has come to to electronic dance (until I do my remix of that track of course!). |

The early years were so much fun, meeting up with other Darius fans and being so privileged to spend time with not only Darius but also his family and the wonderful guys in both his bands.
Any time that Darius sings live, even if it's not my favourite genre, gives me great pleasure. I just love his voice - always have and always will. 2005 is seared in my memory. Darius had just moved to LA but he came back to the UK for a string of memorable gigs. It was like he was running through his repertoire for us all, perhaps knowing he wouldn't be so accessible in the future. Culzean Castle and Lincoln showcased Pop Darius and his band at their magnificent best. Darius commanded that stage like a lion (well he is a Leo) and with the mane to go with it. Maidstone was intimate acoustic singer/songwriter Darius. The Passage's (London Charity for the homeless) Grand Royal Gala and Champagne and Canapé reception in the Banqueting Hall was something else again. Suited and booted Darius with Natasha Henstridge on his arm. On stage he dedicated Devil In You to Natasha and then sang Billy Flynn's theme from Chicago "All I Care About Is Love", accompanied by girls from the show complete with fans. They were still in rehearsals at that stage. Off stage he, Natasha and his parents were very gracious and generous with their time. What a night! All the fans scrubbed up really well. I hardly recognised them. The very best thing about all of Darius's gigs/shows is that even if circumstances mean you have to go alone, you will always be among friends. Do you all prefer Darius' musical theatre career era or Darius' music era? I certainly prefer the Darius' music era when he is writing songs and performing them, whether that be the first two albums or the three new swing songs he wrote.

It's everything. The roller-coaster thrill following his career together.
It is seamless. Everything he is doing now is down to foundations he' s laid down grafting behind the scenes, learning his craft from people he respects in the wider entertainment industry. I personally cannot allocate elements of his career to separate boxes and then judge them. It's like asking a mother to choose between her children. |

I thought everyone here would choose to like his songwriting and performances over his musical theatre! However, I suppose as you say he has done so many things such as songs, theatre and being on Popstar To Operastar and together all of those make Darius who he is, and also show he is multi-dimensional. |

He doesn't give us chance to get bored with all his changes Although if he's going to the U.S. to do secret film production soon for a while you might get bored. Btw do you know if he going to be continuing his appearance in Funny Girl during the film production time? I am guessing not as it would probably take up too much time for him to do both. I tried to revive this forum. It's a shame to see it go. I tried to revive it too of course! Plus MoistSummerFruit and Baytree and all the other Darius forum long term members. I have had such a great time over the last two weeks being part of this previously dead forum becoming active again and its been great fun being on here discussing Darius who I didn't know that much about before I came on here. It's been a friendlier place here than the rest of Buzzjack I think. This post has been edited by The Hissmobile: Sep 3 2017, 07:16 PM |
