Hello and welcome to another of Buzzjack's genre countdowns which will continue with Musicals! Please submit your lists and we will count down the favourite 40 from Buzzjack users!

Rules:
- Minimum Amount Of Films On Your List: 10 Films
- Maximum Amount Of Films On Your List: 40 Films
- Please rank your films in order from 1 (your favourite) to 40 (your 40th favourite!)
- Has to be a feature film, don't include shorts
- Remember you don't have to go up to 40
- I know the definition of 'musical' is a bit tough to properly define so just be sensible but include whatever you like as long as it could be classified as a musical.
- For films like Beauty and the Beast for example, please specify whether you mean the Disney original or the 2017 remake.

Think that's all, any questions please ask!

You can edit your lists but you need to notify in a new post if you have!
Deadline: Friday 1st December 2017

Lists to help you think of films:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/genres/chart/?id=musical.htm - Most musical films from 1974 onwards
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_musical_films_by_year - Can find musical films released in any year
http://www.marieclaire.com/culture/g4045/m...movies/?slide=1 - A top 25 countdown from Marie Claire.
https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/top...ies-of-all-time - Another countdown

I've kind of deducted most of the animated musicals idek why laugh.gif

I noticed that I subconsciously did this too heehee.gif They almost don't feel like authentic musicals in a way and my top five would probably all just be Disney films otherwise laugh.gif drama.gif

There are a couple that I'd like to see too (Rent, Fame, Enchanted, Evita, Fiddler on the Roof, Footloose, Singing' in the Rain etc.) so I might try and watch a couple if I have a free moment.

Aw! Haven't seen a lot of musicals.

My favourite would have to be Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (or Disney's Aladdin if it counts)

I'll have a go at this but not a fan of Musicals at all and I notice people are avoiding animation which is probably fair but Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Xmas would've scored big for me. However since The Muppets are in for others so is Meet The Feebles for me

01 The Rocky Horror Picture SHow
02 Grease
03 Meet The Feebles
04 Pink Floyd's The Wall
05 Purple Rain
06 The Wizard Of Oz
07 Little Shop Of Horrors
08 Shock Treatment
09 The Blues Brothers
10 Blazin' Saddles
11 Oh! What A Lovely War
12 Viva Las Vegas
13 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
14 Les Miserables
15 The King And I
16 A Hard Day's Night
17 Willy Wonka & The Choclate Factory (71)
18 Repo: The Genetic Opera
19 Sweeney Todd
20 Head
21 Rock 'N Roll High School

So hard to decipher what is and what isn't a musical. So for Disney movies etc.. I don't feel like they're "musicals" as opposed to movies just with a couple of songs in... And I was very close to not including autobiographical ones for that reason, but decided to just score/rank them a bit further down (Walk the Line for example is one of my absolute fave films) so I don't know. sad.gif

But here, have this list!

01. La La Land (2017)
02. Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
03. The Muppets Christmas Carol (1992)
04. Pitch Perfect (2012)
05. Oliver! (1968)
06. Les Miserables (2012)
07. Annie (1982)
08. Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)
09. Walk The Line (2005)
10. Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)
---
11. Grease (1978)
12. Hairspray! (2007)
13. Jersey Boys (2014)
14. Sweeney Todd (2007)
15. Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
16. High School Musical (2006)
17. Mamma Mia! (2008)
18. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
19. High School Musical 2 (2007)
20. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)

1. Mary Poppins
2. The Wizard of Oz
3. The Lion King
4. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
5. La La Land
6. Bugsy Malone
7. Beauty and the Beast
8. High School Musical (It was cute at the time ok)
9. Frozen
10. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

About all I can do I'm afraid as I haven't seen a lot of the big classic musicals sad.gif I included Disney films that are most renowned for their music even if I deduct them a little bit as I would've given them my top vote in animation.

(These are all originals, no remakes)

Outside the top 3 it's tough to order because I don't know whether to favour movies that I view as more genuine musicals (like Into The Woods/Chicago/Annie which you'll find on Broadway), base it on which have the best songs or which movies I enjoy the most overall laugh.gif

1. Grease
2. Mamma Mia
3. High School Musical (no shame, this absolutely has to slay)
4. Sing Street
5. Pitch Perfect
6. Trolls
7. Pitch Perfect 2
8. Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
9. Into The Woods
10. Frozen
11. Moana
12. Sing
13. Chicago
14. Annie (2014)
15. Begin Again (I can't remember how much music this includes, but Wiki does use the term 'musical' and Sam has included it to)
