Think the Duffer Brothers have said maximum of 4 seasons and OUT.
Even Season 3 will be weird, the kids are already growing up loads.

only 4 seasons ohmy.gif I'm gonna be so upset when this show ends sad.gif

Seen the first 6 episodes now - gets better and better. Still unsure of the purpose of Max and her brother, but I will wait. From most things that I have read the final two episodes are the best.

Please no spoilers, but I will be watching episode 7 tonight. I have heard some bad things about it - is it really that bad?

Episode 7 is the worst episode in Stranger Things history. It doesn't fit in at all and kind of ruins all momentum coming off of episode 6. I for one wish I had just skipped it.

It's not that bad. It feels like you're watching a completely different show all of a sudden and I'm not convinced it has a real point to being included - well it sort of does but the point could have been done in many other ways instead.

Well for me at least it was terrible. Especially compared to how amazing the rest of the season is. Most of the characters seemed pointless and the whole episode just felt like a cheap X-Men: First Class rip-off. Everything felt rushed, not very well acted and all-in-all it was just an annoying episode, especially given its' placement in the season run - coming directly after the cliffhanger of episode 6.

Finished it all now - great show. I don't think it was quite as good as Season 1 but it ran it very close. I'll spoiler all my thoughts.

I was hoping to see more of the Upside Down world. I mean it looks like nothing lives there bar the monster, but it's shown us Hawkins School, the Arcade etc. so at some point it must have been habitable. But I guess that is probably what Season 3 is for - I wonder if it will come for Eleven now.

Episode 7 was surely the weakest, but it was not that bad. It felt like either a backdoor Pilot for a Stranger Things spin-off, or a set up for future seasons. The characters were all largely annoying and didn't really get enough development. But I got the point of the episode, but I do agree it probably could have done in a much better way.

Finished Season 2 last night too! Really impressive overall, my main highlight was the characters. I feel like they were all developed even stronger this season, particularly those who were maybe more secondary characters in Season 1? Like it was good that we got to see Lucas' and Dustin's family! Lucas' sister is already an icon, Barb WHO? I guess the only thing was that Mike felt more like a spare part this season and was sidelined a bit but I guess that's because he really was almost the centre of the first season, his relationship with Eleven, she was at his house, Nancy's his sister, even though they're a group him and Will were the closest etc. Therefore without Eleven and being with Will this season (who spent most of it possessed and with Joyce overshadowing him), he was more just 'there'. .

I REALLY warmed to Steve too, to the point that I'm now stanning him tbh, he definitely had the best character development of the season. Nancy was even better too and I have a crush on her now kink.gif. I think the strength of all the characters this season really helped with that final scene with the Ball. My heart was well and truly breaking and I was getting way too emotional than is socially acceptable when Dustin didn't have a girl to dance with until Nancy came. That's genuinely going to become one of my favourite scenes ever.

The overall plot was good but not as strong as the first season I don't think. It got a bit to Exorcist/all those possession horror films towards the end and I was hoping for a greater understanding of what the Upside Down was and the shadow monster's intentions and I feel the possession stuff was a bit too much of a get out clause for this. Just a minor concern though as it was still much stronger than other shows and, as I said, the characters are my favourite part of the show.

Rooney has basically put what I was going to say about Episode 7! laugh.gif It definitely did feel like a backdoor pilot. It was out of place in the fact that it took up a whole episode with these random characters that we'd only seen in the first two minutes of S02E01 and never see again outside of that and the fact that it came after that massive cliffhanger!! I do think the story of it was essential though as Eleven needed her Luke/Yoda moment in order to close the gate in Episode 9 as otherwise, I think people would question why she couldn't just close the gate to start with! I think it would have worked better as cutaways across a couple of episodes where you still saw all the action in Hawkins.

Next season I'd like to see Will actually be PART of the gang, poor him being taken away in both seasons </3. I feel like part of it is to give Joyce something to do though! I'd also like to see a greater understanding of the Upside Down too. I hope Eight (without the gang) comes back too, to help expand the scientists aspect too and to further the development of Eleven and give a greater purpose to Episode 7.

RE Mike - maybe this might just be me, but he looks WAY taller than all of the other kids, so I wonder if that was part of the reason why he was kind of sidelined.

Eight will definitely come back. I am not sure if Netflix will go ahead with the spin-off, they might try and focus on something different, but clear as day there will be a spin-off of some sorts once the show ends. Obviously 'Papa' will be back next season too.. and I have a funny feeling the 'good' scientist will probably turn bad as well and let 'Papa' know Eleven is still out there.

I finished this last night, I felt it was a lot slower than season one as I couldn't binge it all at once without getting kinda bored after a while so I had to pace it kink.gif

I thought the kids were more annoying this season and the real strength in character came from the older ones, Joyce (as always tbf), Hopper, Bob and Steve in particular. I really loved the sort of father/daughter dynamic between Hopper and Eleven and you got to see more to both of them as a result. I also adored babysitter Steve, especially with him and Dustin. I'm glad they did that sorta pairing as Dustin would have felt a bit sidelined otherwise and he's probably my fave of the four boys. I really liked Max too but I thought they could have done more with her, hopefully that will come in Season 3. I really want to see her and El interact more as I think that would be SO interesting. Lucas' sister too, so much sass *.* Bob's death was rather heartbreaking, like you could see it coming but the fact it happened when he was just steps away from getting to Joyce was just cry.gif

I think I say this every time this trope comes up in a series, but I could've done without the damn love triangles. I guess the Nancy/Steve/Jonathan one was already established last season but I hoped they'd finished with that and it would just be her and Jonathan but they managed to drag that out for nearly a whole season. As much as I love Steve, I think Nancy and Jonathan are the right pairing. I really hated the Max/Lucas/Dustin one though, like there was no need for that (other than perhaps Dustin and Steve bonding over both "losing" the girl) but I felt their friendship had enough to go off without that. I don't get why writers think love triangles are so essential, they're so overused and it's not like Stranger Things doesn't have enough going on otherwise laugh.gif

The Snowball scene was lovely and a perfect way to round off the season. Although, I saw in an interview thing that Max and Lucas' kiss was unscripted and the actress who played Max basically felt pressured to do it, I think you can tell that she wasn't comfortable there and it was a bit iffy to watch, but then I'd read this article before watching the episode so maybe because I knew that it made it weird. The scene would have been just as strong without it tbh. I'd really like to see most of season 3 set in the upside down I think where you get to see like the full alternative version of Hawkins, maybe there's alternative upside down versions of all the characters too? ohmy.gif

Finished the season the other day and generally thought it was good. I preferred Season 1 but it was a decent follow up. Really stanned Nancy, Jonathan and Eleven this season. I even kind of liked Steve by the end! ohmy.gif Also Lucas' sister is a true icon.

This was great (other than episode 7, which felt like a backdoor pilot to the most unconvincing and unlikeable eighties 'punk' show) but not quite as special as the first season. My heart, poor lovable Bob.

I'm really intrigued with where they're going to go next to keep the formula fresh. Time jump?

I watched the first episode from curiosity and it isn't worth continuing, we get barely any behind the scenes and outtakes and more of the presenter and cast doing interview questions and anecdotes.

I started watching season 1 earlier this year but I never finished it - I found it got off to quite a slow start and didn't totally grip me. I finally continued it starting last week, and I finished season 2 yesterday. Thankfully I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, and the pace in season 1 definitely picked up biggrin.gif Some general views (including season 1, I'd rather post S1 and S2 together over bumping the other thread kink.gif)

- There's not really any main characters I dislike, although it took me a while to warm to Hopper and Joyce (Winona Ryder is amazing but I found Joyce slightly irritating at first).
- Jonathan was my favourite in season 1 but I think Steve's taken his crown in season 2, the character progression was superb and I need to see more of him and Dustin!
- Season 1's plot was stronger I'd say, but season 2 excelled in its characterisation, and I'd say it was a bit more focused.
- The only episode I really didn't enjoy was S2E7, focusing on Eleven's journey. It was dull and I didn't really like any of the other characters so it was a bit of a slog.
- Not getting the Barb thing at all, she was in it for like 5 minutes!!11!
