As news comes in that one of my top 5 artists EVER is doing Eurobision (Jessica Mauboy) and Finland have a perfect chice in Saara Aalto, who are some of your dream choices for various countries?

-------

I'd have:

France: Mylene Farmer
Italy: Annalisa or Elisa (I'd live for Francesca again but I'll just go for newbies not returnees)
Sweden: Molly Sanden finally doing it
UK: Alexandra burke I think is a realistic good choice
Australia: greedy now Jess has got it but I also need Ricki-Lee to do it x

I'll think of some more later!

Omg YES @ Aura Dione, especially with a song like Geronimo I think would be amazing. WT would do really well for Netherlands as well I imagine and Agnes NEEDS to do Melfest again, I'm so surprised she hasn't?!

Songs like "Geronimo" by Aura Dione, "Sinéad" by Within Temptation and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Agnes scream 'winner' to me wub.gif Maybe Agnes will give it a go this year, she's drifted off the radar a bit...

I absolutely second Susanne Sundfor and Agnes Carlsson. Also Sigrid for Norway would be amazing.

Someone like Dua Lipa or Marina & The Diamonds for the UK *.*

WT would also be great and I think Sinéad is the best example of what they're capable of.

Not as popular a choice for Australia as Troye would be, but I think Sheppard would do a great job. They probably wouldn't win but Australia is likely to never win tongue.gif Geronimo feels like the ultimate "Eurovision Entry That Never Was" for me laugh.gif

"Geronimo" by Aura Dione sounds like the ultimate Eurovision entry that never was, but "Geronimo" by Sheppard really doesn't for me, as much as I like it laugh.gif I don't find anything typically 'Eurovision' about it!

Haha. It actually made me think of that really odd Georgian entry from a few years ago (sort of anyway) - "Three Minutes From Earth" or something along those lines... that flopped on its bum

i'm totally here for Eivør. sadly the only chance she ever has (if she wants to do ESC) is if they scrap the DMGP system and just choose her internally. but that would require completely replacing everyone involved in the song selection process

Or if they allow Faroe Islands to compete separately which I guess is more likely laugh.gif

Great seeing Within Temptation mentioned so much in this thread, they would be my #1 choice for Netherlands and I do hope they show up eventually (if only to get some actual bloody rock back in the competition).

I'd also do:
Finland: Nightwish (duh, I'm kind of glad they didn't do it in 2000 as I think their career might have taken a very different direction, but I do hope that once Tuomas is gnarly and desperate enough he comes knocking at Finland's door) or Apocalyptica
Sweden: Amaranthe
Switzerland: Eluveitie
Denmark: Volbeat
Norway: Tristania
Italy: Lacuna Coil
Germany: FAUN or Xandria
Austria: Russkaja or Kontrust

I have a theme, yes. But any of those acts showing up would make my year.

Slightly less stereotypically of me, Susanne Sundfor for Norway would be an amazing choice to put them back on that glorious depressive alt-pop route they were doing for a few years but have stumbled away from.
