Well? It's been 41 years. Only Spain and the Netherlands have a longer drought out of countries that have won. Will the centre of the European continent ever bring it back to Paris? I bet those idiots on that island to our north-west are laughing at our disgrace, with their winner merely 21 years ago. What do the French need to do to win?

Bien?

(in all seriousness, for countries that haven't won in decades, when might they again?)

Certainly! Any country needs to just look at recent victories for Germany, Austria and Portugal to see that the right song CAN win. Bulgaria now transformed into a Eurovision powerhouse after years of missing the final. It can change at the click of a finger. Just find that right formula.

France are on track; they've now sent 3 top notch entries in a row and I think will finish on the left hand side of the board this year. Some even tip "Mercy" as a dark horse to win - it is my favourite of this year. I think they tried the 'old school star' route before the UK did but better - with Sebastien Tellier and the fabulous Patricia Kaas (her little dance at the end of her performance has to be one of my all-time favourite Eurovision moments!)

France have been underrated for years. I still cry over TWIN TWIN's robbery and that run from 98 to 2005 is simply flawless.

Oui, more of a chance than the UK will. With the right song yes.

Only with our current attitude and approach though. ANY country can win again (or for the first time). France just have a better approach than we do at the moment.

France has been sending some proper bangers lately and I think it's gonna happen sooner rather than later. They're easily in my top 5 countries of modern Eurovision as there's really no entry that I really hate and so many that I love.

There are a ton of French entries I enjoy, I think the last time I wasn't so keen was 2012. I thought early on Requiem might have been a bit of a winner contender last year if only because it reminded me a lot of BJSC winner Derniere Danse, but they definitely do have the potential. Admittedly their normally fab insistence on singing in French does hamstring them a bit but they have shown a willingness to go outside of it and it's not like there's never going to be a French language winner again, in fact, the sooner there is, most likely the better, it's a great language for singing in.

If France keep up the quality they’re on then it will surely come, it’s all about timing now
