Each to their own I suppose. |

A section almost entirely full of my guilty pleasures! I've gone on record as saying Electro Velvet is my favourite 21st century UK entry, although I'm not really gonna defend the live performance, it was indeed a very strong year in 2015 and that did not do the song justice.
That's also my favourite Macedonian entry, I love the chorus line and it's quite an eclectic song. And Suntribe is exactly the sort of rubbish girlband song that I can see the charm in. Glad there's someone else who doesn't get Come Back (I'm not sure who does, for our best performance of the 21st it's quite forgotten), it's pretty boring. |

I really like Come Back and for my sins Still In Love With You
Come Back is very of its time but lovely. It is baffling that it's our best placement since Katrina & The Waves won though! SILWY is like an embarrassing San Marino last placer but I've got a soft spot for it. I remember me and my mum watching the entry reveal thing on Red Button and thinking that it was like the intro to the program or something, or a joke I agree with Iz though the performance did it no favours and that didn't help when it stood 0 chance anyway. I think they were trying to go for a Caro Emerald kind of thing but botched it so it was never gonna appeal to Europe. Let's Get Loud isn't that bad but the performance certainly is |

Catching up on this!!
I can't remember how any of the 600-596 section went... that's a good start! Poor Eythor Ingi though! One of my favourite Icelandic entries - partly so credible due to it remaining in Icelandic. To have it the lowest of them all! I'm going to guess that Ari will be taking this crown though?? Also I felt "Et Cetera" was one of the songs that missed the 2009 final that deserved it, just about. There are certainly Irish entries I've liked less. I haven't liked many! I have a strange soft spot for Croatia 2013: I literally had "Mizerja" stuck in my head randomly after that contest. Not quite sure as to why! Still not their best entry to have missed the final though, that has got to be "Lako Je Sve" by Feminnem <3 Oh dear "Dying To Try"! It truly was atrocious - though in another way I again have a soft spot for it! I guess it was dreadful in a charming way, like "Mizerja"? I have to admit, "Come Back" is actually one of our entries this century so far that I've rated (to an extent). A nice soaring ballad. I must re-watch these pre-2006 contests again to remind myself of our competition though. The 2002 winner wasn't exactly great, was it! Electro Velvet "Still In Love With You" is another one I have a huge soft spot for I get that it's incredibly cheesy and pretty embarrassing for us to be sending, but it's nothing compared to the direness of Daz Sampson, Scooch or Josh Dubovie's entries. I can imagine this song being the perfect song to dance around with your dog to at Crufts or on Britain's Got Talent. I wasn't a fan of "Romanca", a bizarre finalist... but it was an era of Eastern-European dominace. That Israeli entry from Eddie Butler was atrocious: looking back, I hate how from 2004-2007 at least we missed out on some decent finalists due to there being the 'auto-qualifier' rule for top 10 finishers from the previous year. Keep them coming! I'm thoroughly enjoying this. Are you inserting the 2018 lot in, or are you announcing an update to the top 683 after you've completed this countdown?? |

I'll be adding five songs that I have eliminated before "Amar" at 576 (which extends to 614th with the additions). The remaining 38 songs from 2018 get added to the roster of remaining songs and eliminated at the same pace as everything else. |

Him being a dickhead doesn't stop that from being an amazing song/entry/performance.

When I don't think the song/entry/performance was ever amazing to begin with it's easy for me to downgrade the song even further thanks to his 1/10 personality. I find it horribly boring. I started off thinking "Mall" was rubbish but it really grew on me after the studio version was announced, and he was one of the top 5 best performers at the contest (vying for number 1 in fact). Also something quite dishy about him but that doesn't affect my reasoning for liking a song
Ari is adorable, bless him, but his entry - or Georgia's which you've also announced - firmly deserve to be bottom 2 for this year I think. Both atrocious. And both placing last in their respective semis, as it goes, I've just realised! My bottom 2 for the year. I really liked "Light Me Up" but at the contest it was pretty abysmal. I wasn't sad it missed the final. And you have really quite exaggerated the reasons why nice and colourfully I've yet to listen to the song again since the performance, but I was enjoying the track - perhaps with Avicii's passing recently, where I started rinsing his discography, this entry was sounding a bit better. So Hungary and Albania I rated highly - but you've already said you hate guitar music so it's no surprise you've got them so low! |

Well it's not so much about the guitar as it is about this screaming type of singing as you can see with Iceland, Albania and Hungary all in my bottom 3 and all three feature singers doing this kind of chicken scream (well maybe not so much Hungary) that I just about hate. The Netherlands will not place so low for example as I quite enjoyed that. |
