Poor poor AWS, easily my favourite song from this year... and I also ranked Eugent third I do at least agree with you about Poland being one of the worst this year, probably my third least favourite after Netherlands and Estonia. I gave a listen to all of the DNQs just before the final (as I didn't watch the semis) and there wasn't really much worth listening to there. Iceland's song was sadly pretty crap as well and Georgia was much less interesting than I hoped it would be from the name of the band. x
I mean I do get why people might hate 'Viszlát Nyár' though of course. Screamy metal vocals are clearly an acquired taste. I was actually pleasantly surprised it didn't get more hate on here. |

AWS & Eugent I love but I guess I wouldn't have expected you to like. I'll take some more redemption for My Friend too.
Complete rubbish from Poland and Iceland this year so that's all fine. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not really surprised to see I'm alone on my stance towards Albania and (to a lesser extent) Hungary. Surprised your least favs were the netherlands and Estonia though Bré.
Will try to get the next batch of 5-10 songs tonight. In the mean time the front page has been updated with all the eliminated songs so far by year. This post has been edited by cantthinkofaname: 17th May 2018, 09:55 AM |

The problem with Waylon for me is twofold in that a) I absolutely HATE that style of country music and that hideous accent in general and b) this is even worse because it comes across as extremely fake and inauthentic, fair enough if an actual deep south country musician is making that kind of song as it's at least believable, Waylon is going out of his way to sound (in my opinion) obnoxious. It's probably actually my least favourite song in any Eurovision that I've watched (bearing in mind that only goes back to 2009, and I never heard most of the DNQs since then and also never actually got around to hearing most of the 2017 entries as I wasn't able to watch it when it was on xx). Estonia is more the sort of thing I could usually get behind but Elina's voice is just not pleasant, she overdoes it way too much.
I will catch up on the rest of this thread whenever I have a spare moment to read through it by the way, I applaud the emount of effort put into it even if we clearly have some quite big taste differences!! (I mean... I really love 'Amar Pelos Dois' as well and am quite a fan of 'Euro Neuro' and even 'Aina Mun Pitää' too so ) |

Given the bottom two placing of AWS and PKN I'm actually quite surprised a certain entry (or two) is still in.

I really grew to love 'Mall' after being initially disappointed with the revamp, I'm glad it did well for them in the end (well, 11th for Albania is doing VERY WELL)

I have a grudge against Finland 2000 because it was about one of the worst and blandest entries Finland ever sent and they could have had Nightwish representing them that year. NF juries, man, they need to be taught what 'an exciting spectacle' means and why it can be a good thing to send it to Eurovision and not overrule your country's televote (see also Melodifestivalen 2013).
Otherwise, hurrah at a ton of blandness leaving. |

So now that we've reached the Top 600 again it's time to recap the songs we've eliminated so far and the statistics of the years and countries in this thing.
Eliminees by Year 2000 · 7/24 · 29.2% 2004 · 10/36 · 27.8% 2001 · 6/23 · 26.1% 2002 · 6/24 · 25.0% 2007 · 10/42 · 23.8% 2008 · 10/43 · 23.3% 2005 · 8/39 · 20.5% 2010 · 8/39 · 20.5% 2009 · 8/42 · 19.0% 2017 · 7/42 · 16.7% 2011 · 7/43 · 16.3% 2006 · 6/37 · 16.2% 2003 · 4/26 · 15.4% 2012 · 6/42 · 14.3% 1999 · 3/23 · 13.0% 2013 · 5/39 · 12.8% 2018 · 5/43 · 11.6% 2014 · 4/37 · 10.8% 2015 · 4/40 · 10.0% 2016 · 2/42 · 4.8% Yup, last time I did this was at the turn of the original Top 600 but now 43 more songs have been cut (including 5 from 2018) and 38 songs from 2018 have been added to the pot so here we are again. In the last recap we had 2002 in the safe zone having lost only one entry but it's lost 6 songs since bringing it to the fourth-highest position here behind fellow early noughties years 2000, 2001 and 2004. 2016 stays safe at the bottom after only 2 eliminations and 2014 / 2015 are not far behind. Eliminees by Country 7/20 Ireland 7/18 Lithuania 7/16 Portugal 6/20 United Kingdom 6/19 Belgium 6/19 Latvia 6/16 Poland 5/20 Spain 5/18 Croatia 4/18 Cyprus 4/11 Georgia 4/7 Czech Republic 3/20 Israel 3/19 Slovenia 3/17 Macedonia 3/17 Romania 3/17 Switzerland 3/15 Austria 3/14 Turkey 3/12 Bulgaria 3/12 Hungary 3/11 Montenegro 2/20 Estonia 2/20 Germany 2/20 Malta 2/19 Iceland 2/19 Netherlands 2/17 Finland 2/15 Albania 2/14 Bosnia & Herzegovina 2/12 Armenia 2/4 Slovakia 2/3 Monaco 1/18 Greece 1/18 Russia 1/16 Belarus 1/15 Moldova 1/9 San Marino 1/8 Italy 1/6 Andorra 0/20 France 0/20 Sweden 0/19 Denmark 0/19 Norway 0/15 Ukraine 0/12 Serbia 0/11 Azerbaijan 0/4 Australia Ireland's catching steam quickly and is hot on the heels of Lithuania and Latvia now. Only one new country has lost a song in the form of my own home-country Iceland, which has now lost two songs. It'll be interesting to see which country is the next one to lose a song for the first time. Also who will be the first country to lose all their songs? Right now it looks likely to be either Monaco or Slovakia who have lost 66% and 50% of their songs so far and only have a total of 3 songs left combined but only time will tell. Let's get started on the Top 600 again. |

I remember Angel! It's stood out to me as one of the more addictive songs from as far back as 2001. File next to Latvia's Brainstorm/F.L.Y. <3
