So that marks the end of Monaco in this countdown. They had three entries in the past twenty years, all of which were ranging from boring to terrible so I'd be lying if I said I was going to miss them. Their lowest placing entry was 2006's "La Coco-Dance" which featured bad vocals and and even worse melody, which is why it places in my Bottom 50. The chart above shows Monaco's success in my fictional universe where the contest had two semi finals from 2004 onwards and as you can see they almost qualified with their first entry but only because there were so many bad songs that year lol. Overall I will not miss Monaco here but I would be intrigued to see what would happen were they to return to the competition now that song quality has generally become much better. I'd be down for San Marino getting some competition for most hilarious microstate in Eurovision. |

I think the approach to Eurovision in the 00s, particularly the further back you go, was completely different then to now so if Monaco were to return, I'd imagine they'd make much more effort. There are countless dud entries in the 00s.
PS I love "La Coco-Dance" |

There are countless dud entries in the 00s. I agree. I think if Monaco were to return they'd possibly send a lot more quality or at least something bad but still enjoyable like SM are doing hahah. I'd be down for a Monaco return for sure. |

I actually really liked all of Monaco's 21st century efforts
But then I seem to enjoy all the microstate's offerings even when they are objectively terrible. |

FTR I'm not a total hater on objectively shitty entries There will be some that will drift unreasonably far despite being terrible in every way, hahaha.

Oh no that's two of my favourite 2013 entries out already! The chord progression on ESDM is wonderful and I actually remember it as quite the moment of 2013 live. Igranka is of course iconic.
I'd be so up for Monaco (and by extension, all of the rest of the microstates, THE POPE INCLUDED) to just come back and faff about with ridiculous entries, no matter the qualification potential. |

I'm with you there. I'm so up for more variety in Eurovision and more countries joining! Really hope Liechtenstein and especially Kazakhstand join next year *.* |

Igranka is an absolute TUNE and easily the best Montengro entry (that's not saying *much* but still) *.*

I remember Belgium being a real guilty pleasure of mine back in 2008. The performance of it on the night was awful though- dressed like a sweet wrapper and totally out of breath practically the whole way through. The staging and her vocals were a lot better at the national selection show.

'Igranka' is the only song I remember since I last commented and that was a bop x I actually came across a different song by Magdi Rúzsa ('Ég És Föld') which I really liked a few years ago though before I found out she was a Eurovision alumnus!

It perhaps hasn't aged that well but I loved TSIL at the time, lovely Disneyish ballad <3
Omg I Can't Live Without Music Bless her, the song was so tragic it's like they didn't even attempt to make it remotely good and just plonked her on stage and left her to bomb. |

For some strange reason "I Can't Live Without Music" was one of the favourites to win that year.
What an educational bop of a song from MozzarElla. I hope she returns soon to teach us about the rest of the colour wheel <3 |

getting a little bit more talkative now which tells me we're nearing the end of the entries I'm completely indifferent about.
