Dexton's Top 40 (29/05/2018) (Week 55)
Wowza look at this a new #1 again! Five #1s in 5 weeks, probably a chart record for me, with Clean Bandit claiming their second chart topping hit as Solo featuring Demi Lovato climbs to the top. Solo is Demi's third Top 10 single following Jax Jones' Instruction (#6) and Luis Fonsi's Echame La Culpa (#7). This is also Clean Bandit's third Top 10 single, including former #1 Disconnect and I Miss You (#4). A big thanks to his latest album, Shawn Mendes re-enters at #3 with Lost In Japan - there are four more Shawn Mendes song in my Top 40 this week too! George Ezra's Shotgun (1-2) and Bastille's Quarter Past Midnight (2-4) fill out the Top 5 along with a new entry from grandson with Thoughts and Prayers (thank you BJSC ) Shawn Mendes' Youth featuring Khalid (29-6) is Khalid's seventh Top 10 hit and is the latest entry in Khalid's seemingly constant presence in my chart ever since featuring on Marshmello's Silence. With a Martin Garrix collaboration on the horizon too, Khalid isn't going anywhere (nor should he) Labrinth, Sia, & Diplo's Genius climbs into the Top 10 (11-7), as does Selena Gomez's Back To You (20-10). Shawn Mendes is everywhere this week with In My Blood rebounding (18-11), Where Were You In The Morning? climbing (39-16), and Nervous debuting at #34. His new album far exceeded my expectations and his new mature sound is so much better than his previosu style I think. His album enters at #1 in the album chart. Client Liaison's World Of Our Love (24-19) finally creeps up into the Top 20 (again thank you BJSC). Duke Dumont's Inhale featuring Ebenzer (32-25) also takes a big jump, following by Years & Years' If You're Over Me (38-29), and M-22's First Time featuring Medina (35-30). New entries to the chart include Post Malone's Better Now at #23, Panic! At The Disco's High Hopes at #31, Ivy Adara's Currency at #33, 5 Seconds of Summer's Youndblood at #36, and King Princess' 1950 at #40. Hello Dexton!
Nice to see "Solo" at #1, it's close to Demi's best work, alongside "Instruction"! The Shawn Mendes gains, re-entry and debut are great as well! Great chart as always! |

Shawn Mendes is a lovely album, Im really enjoying it right now but its no Staying At Tamaras Lost In Japan is fab though, although this is probably its peak Better Now has grown on me a lot since the album, to the point its basically replaces Spoil My Nigt here Thats not an obvious pun at all I love High Hopes, should have a high climb next week too although it wont be as big a climb as Say Amen had Youngblood is doing very well in Australia! Currently our #1 single and its smashing the competition too, Post Malone will probably knock them off before long but I can see it having a few weeks at the top. Definitely the next single Thanks for commenting! Hello Dexton! Nice to see "Solo" at #1, it's close to Demi's best work, alongside "Instruction"! The Shawn Mendes gains, re-entry and debut are great as well! Great chart as always! Hey sergej Solo is definitely a Demi highlight for me! I like a few of her songs but I dont think I ever go back to any of them, not even Instruction too much although I played that a lot last year. Shawn Mendes grabbing all kinds of chart movement Thanks for commenting! |

Hey there Dexton
Very pleased to see that 'Solo' has climbed to #1 for you *.* it clicked more than ever before earlier when I was re-listening to their whole discography to take part in the dance forum CB rate. G'won. grandson is my favourite of your new entries this week the best BJSC winner of the year so far for me. I love the twenty one pilots feel of it and just how powerful the lyrics and graphics in the video are. |

Hi Dexton!
Great to see Solo on top! A great track, hope it can become another big hit for them! There you are commenting on my chart runs, [6-12-23-31-39-28-21-10-1-2] isn't exactly normal Loving Shotgun though so all is forgiven Thoughts and Prayers was a great BJSC winner, glad it did so since it was really close and I was nervous even whilst counting the results Nice to see 1950 sneak in as well! Great chart |

Good morning Barbara!
Oh no no no. "Solo" isn't good enough to be number 1. Sorry but you've lost every shred of respect I ever had for you. Okay so I'm kidding I'm torn on this song, I like it - it's very Ace Of Base - but those SFX, I cannot get over how irritating they are and how much they ruin the song. Their weakest 'big feature' single to date. Given your obsession with "Shotgun" I'm disappointed to see it toppled by "Solo" to be honest. I also despise returns to number 1 btw Who on earth are grandson? Is it me? I'm a grandson. I like the Shawn Mendes track at 3 - I think Snow Patrol kind of stole his thunder for me this week in terms of album releases though (same for CHVRCHES, I haven't even listened to theirs yet). Looks like the LSD song they're pushing here is gonna be "Audio" surprisingly I haven't paid either "Audio" or "Genius" that much attention to be honest; I actually prefer the Silk City single in terms of Diplo's random recent collabs. I do miss proper dance music gracing the charts though. It's so rare these days. Nice chart as usual!!! |

I love the twenty one pilots feel of it and just how powerful the lyrics and graphics in the video are. Hey Jade! Solo was super instant for me, such a bop Their whole discography is full of bangers tbh, and with Elton John & Stormzy lined up for the new album I expect loads more *.* grandson was definitely a deserving winner of BJSC and like you say the best we've had so far in 2018 Thanks for commenting! Heya, Solo is such a flawless pop bop, it is great to see it hit #1 here! The George Ezra track is fire too 🔥 Nice to see BJSC's impact here with Grandson entering too, it is an amazing track! Better Now and Nervous are good too, great chart Solo & Shotgun are so close at the top rn, George probably won't climb back to his peak with this single but Shotgun should stay around for a while I hope Nervous is the next single from Shawn's album, I can definitely see it becoming a hit in the future! Thanks for commenting! Hi Dexton! Great to see Solo on top! A great track, hope it can become another big hit for them! Great chart Hi Pete! Clean Bandit delivering us another 10/10 banger with Solo. I Miss You managed Top 5 so hopefully Solo can be another #1 for them Shotgun is the exception Thoughts and Prayers seemed like an obvious winner from the beginning but it wouldn't be the first time a songs been robbed of the #1 Thanks for commenting! Good morning Barbara! Oh no no no. "Solo" isn't good enough to be number 1. Sorry but you've lost every shred of respect I ever had for you. I do miss proper dance music gracing the charts though. It's so rare these days. Nice chart as usual!!! Evening Solo is more than good enough to be my #1 It's Ace Of Base but so was Rockabye really, but even then that's not a bad comparison! The woop woop bits are a highlight tbh. From the top of my head I think only Feel It Still and Filthy have returned to #1 and, whilst I adore Shotgun, Solo is the song of the moment for me (dw Shotgun will hang around for a while) I'm also a grandson but not this one, BJSC winner and personally the best of this year tbh (maybe best ever? I've only been involved since January so who can tell ) You should definitely try it out some time I've been listening to Snow Patrol a bit this weekend, Empress is definitely the best thing from them in a long time and could even chart for me next week. Poor sweet Don't Give In never saw the light of Genius was very instant for me but recently Audio has grown on me a lot after passing it by a bit on release. I'm the opposite right now, Silk City isn't doing much for me but LSD has been brilliant so far Although the Essential Mix on the Silk City thread here was really good to play in the background Thanks for commenting! |
