I hope we'd all agree that justice should not depend on wealth - so how is it we've ended up with a system where being rich allows people who can hire the best lawyers to have a far better chance of getting off on the same evidence, than the average Joe?

ISTM that if Corbyn was to propose reforms to the justice system that reduced the bias towards wealth, then they would be extremely popular with Labours core support.

I agree, but the real issue is the adversarial nature of our justice system. The system is not actually designed to get to the truth, but it is designed to apportion blame. Until we rebalance the system, and look for what actually happened and why the system will continue to fail all those who have to take part in it

Yes we all agree with the premise. The only way to stop it is to remove the freedom to hire your own lawyer and have a state-appointed lawyer only (In which case everyone gets the same lottery chance of a decent or crap representation, paid for by the State - which will add to the 1.7 trillion currently of debt) or you get rid of rich people.

I really don't see any other solution. So I'm guessing it will never change this side of the apocalypse (which could be anytime after March 2019).
