wub.gif It shocks me that this was 10 years ago! I don't know where that time went to. drama.gif I was only 20 then and things were quite care-free (better than 30 xoxox).

I remember Popjustice's introductory feature on them and being immediately intrigued by them (mainly because of the presence of two S Club Juniors, lol). Then seeing them for the first time in May 2008 at Girls Aloud's Tangled Up tour as their support was the moment I became a fan - I was so obsessed with Up from the word go, and loved the Keep Her performance with the ribbons. Still one of the best support acts I've seen over the years, and for a new act with totally unknown songs they went down really well with the audiences! I joined their official forum / followed them on Myspace (lol... the days before Twitter took off). They were very active and replied to me and many other fans numerous times!

I have amazing memories of the single release promotion! A few friends and I went to see them 8 times(!) over that summer (4 Girls Aloud dates, 3 clubs, 1 shopping centre), and met them on a number of those occasions too. *.* We also organised a fan book project (Una's video about it here!).

One of the club events we went to was G-A-Y's Last Night at the Astoria (26th July), so the download was released while we were there that night. We got back from the club in the early hours and bought it before we went to sleep. I remember following their iTunes progress that week and being thrilled that they ended up achieving a Top 10 hit. heart.gif

Another great memory is that I won a competition to have a phone call with Frankie. ohmy.gif I was incredibly nervous about that, but it ended up being like I was chatting to a friend from college. laugh.gif I wish I still had access to the posts I wrote about it at the time (DenDen, BoardAloud, The Saturdays Official) which would have been very detailed accounts of the conversation, but unfortunately all of those forums don't exist any more. What I do remember is we were on the phone for about 20 minutes, and the majority of questions I had wanted to ask about the (then upcoming) album all kind of went out of the window and we just talked about random stuff... one thing I do specifically remember is us talking about driving lessons/tests because we were doing them at the same time. :')

10 years on, and I definitely find If This Is Love to be rather underrated. That Yazoo sample though. *.* It's not one of their very best, but personally I would at least put it around mid-table... maybe 11th or 12th out of their 18 singles. I think it was a great/sensible choice for debut too - some would argue that they should have launched with Up, but I think If This Is Love was the best choice to introduce themselves and become known, leading up to being in a good position for Up to be well-received and successful. (I think the 'Chasing Lights' era is pretty much their only era they got spot on).

/end of essay ~ Happy 10th anniversary! wub.gif

I really do love them but "Up" feels more like their debut to me, this sort of sat under the radar in comparison.

I remember it all so well! I loved it at the time, I still like it but after 'Up' came along and completely blew this out of the water I tend to overlook this.

I never imagined they'd last 6 years at the time though, they did quite alright really. Especially overcoming all the disasters they had along the way.

I always thought this was underrated, it's so catchy and the use of that Yazoo sample is great! Definately still a hot favourite of mine from the word go, I remember hearing it on the radio where they were doing an interview and for some reason I understood that it was ALL of the girls from S Club 8. Shortly after I watched the music video of this and Up and got addicted to both songs. Then I started watching the flip and it's been true love ever since really. MISS THESE GIRLS!!

This is probably one of the fairest assessments I've seen of the girls on here in a long time. They pretty much outdid their own and everybody else's expectations.
