India...is in Asia?

Makes sense that it's Iz's act now. Was this something you came across when you were living there?

Sadly not, it was only released in the past few months. I have been wanting to send some of the tracks that my Indian friends were playing, but the best ones that I remember I don't know the names of (and can't really search the lyrics).

QUOTE(Bré @ Jul 27 2018, 09:18 PM) *
I ask the same question to Iz as to Chez when I was guessing he was behind Bloodywood: did you also find this song because it was posted with an eye-catching genre tag on /r/listentothis a while back? laugh.gif Very good entry anyway, I'm actually surprised it's doing this well despite how well it went down on plug ;o Iz coming to follow 3 last places in the various BuzzJack contests with a win? tongue.gif

Possibly kink.gif don't reveal my secrets

It stuck with me from there, reminding me of my time in India and all, and I was just playing it so much that I had to send it somewhere and Nuggets fits it best of course.

Guess I've foot shot a bit but Oceans Of Slumber is raking it in, I would not mind losing to that.

Domina Noctis was a good one but lacked something to make it really stand out enough to get points from me, still a commiseration though! I was really expecting some kind of black metal type song from that band name laugh.gif

18. Leonardo ● Panic Is Perfect - Go Go Go

QUOTE
12 Drab Majesty
10 ALASKAALASKA
8 Yellowcard

7 Ellie & The Oscars
6 Primus
5 Lomboy
4 Domina Noctis
3 Ought
2 AS IT IS
1 Only Sun
So it is Leonardo who is behind the song that was winning near the start! I had received 3 votes before plug.dj and it was right up there at the time, so I was surprised that it didn't quite set the session alight. That's what I get for making assumptions after three votes! It's still holding up okay in the top 15 anyway. Panic Is Perfect have recently released their first album and describe the 'Panic' in their name as being more related to adrenaline than anxiety. As for Leo's votes, he snubs the top two contenders and just increases the totals of Drab Majesty (his 12), ALASKALASKA, Yellowcard and Lomboy instead who aren't too far behind. He also helps out a couple of the more underrated songs here from Ought and Only Sun. Also... look at Ellie and the Oscars go! That stalled on 0 for ages and now 'Dancing in the Rain' is in the top 10.

Haha. I didn't recognise it in the list at first but it suddenly clicked when Liam mentioned 'Indian street metal' on plug. I don't know why I never bookmarked it at the time! It could have been mine!! x

A whole three points, I am spoiled. Thanks Leonardo <3 maybe I could yet get to double figures.

19. WhoOdyssey ● Only Sun - So It Goes

01 - ALASKALASKA - Meateater

There you go! biggrin.gif
Next up is WhoOdyssey who is a new face around here. His song is currently suffering from an almighty drought, after receiving 10 points near the start and then just 1 since then, hmm. Perhaps it still has time to recover a bit. I like the sound of Only Sun tbh, they don't seem to take themselves too seriously and have a self-deprecating attitude. Also I can't stop thinking about the parallel between the music video for 'So It Goes' and the infamous butter dance lady, after Bray pointed that out on plug. Anyway, once again the top two here are snubbed and instead WhoOdyssey points a lot of the songs that were right up there at the start. Those 10 points to Yellowcard put them just 20 points behind Bloodywood, maybe this isn't such a two-horse race after all? ohmy.gif His votes also push AS IT IS back into the top 10 following top marks.

So it was Addy who was behind this song that went down a storm on plug.dj! I was trying to find out more about Ellie and the Oscars, but a dog grooming place of the same name just kept coming up instead laugh.gif but yeah, it's clear to see why this made such an impact as the chorus is very instant and packs a punch. Addy's votes mean that 'The Banished Heart' has now passed 100 points. It's only 6 points away from my winning score from last contest ohmy.gif there are more participants than last time but still, impressive! Addy's 12 for 'Meateater' shoots that into the top 5 for the first time.

And another new high of 4 points :cheeseblock: thank you Addy. Let's hope I can stay out of the bottom 5 tongue.gif

I liked 'Dancing In The Rain' (not far off my commiserations) but I definitely thought the plug reaction seemed a little too much, 13th is more the mark I'd have expected for it rather than it being a winning contender like plug seemed to indicate!

Lindsey is the first of the three indie mods to cast their votes! Her powerful entry, courtesy of AS IT IS, addresses the societal pressures that are put on boys. It makes sense that her 12 goes to a fellow entry with an important message. Lindsey's doing pretty well right now in the top 10. Her votes mean that Oceans Of Slumber now have more points than my winner 'Lauren' last month ohmy.gif can that stay at the top or will something knock it off by the end? Yellowcard are still trying hard, Lindsey's 10 points to 'For You, And Your Denial' puts it just 10 points away from 2nd place.

Had a hunch that you were only Sun after your first post WhoOdyssey! Great band, I've put two more of their songs on my playlist after hearing them on this so thanks! And I would NEVER have put you down as AS IT IS Lindsey! Another great discovery, that song was head and shoulders above the rest for me! Thanks both for the points also biggrin.gif

14. Riser ● Cherry Monroe - Satellites

Next up we have Jordan! So I mentioned the fact that this was geoblocked on plug.dj, without thinking that it would narrow down who had sent this. So if you read into the band a bit more and found out that they were from Ohio then you may have been able to put 2 and 2 together... oops blush.gif I promise that was the only accidental spoiler I gave away! So it may come as a surprise (it did to me anyway for some reason!) that Jord has given his top marks to a 23 minute epic.
Oh was it geoblocked?? Sorry! Yup, this was a local hit here at least 10 years ago when I was in high school, and I just rediscovered it and decided to send it here! Not at all surprised at its underperformance so far but not bothered either tongue.gif (I'm still a couple pages behind though!)

Tbh having Haken as my fave surprised me too, while parts of it were a bit dull I really loved the majority of it and it's rare for a long song to hold my attention like this did <3
